Watch Sabrina Carpenter Perform ‘Hungry Like the Wolf' With Duran Duran at BST Hyde Park

Yahoo3 days ago
Sabrina Carpenter performed two back-to-back nights at BST Hyde Park in London this weekend and at tonight's show, she brought out surprise guests Duran Duran.
Before her guests joined her onstage on Sunday, she had the audience literally howling at the moon. After the crowd practiced their howls, Carpenter said, 'I also thought it might be fun if I brought out some friends of mine from the U.K. I'm going to need you guys to put that howling to good use. But everybody please give it up and make so much noise for the legendary Duran Duran.'

The band's Simon Le Bon and John Taylor came out to cheers before launching into their 1982 Rio single, 'Hungry Like the Wolf.' Le Bon and Taylor took the reins while Carpenter sang harmonies, and she later led the second verse before everyone had the chance to summon their best wolf howls toward the end of the song.
Carpenter is set to headline Lollapalooza in Chicago on Aug. 3 before she drops her new album, Man's Best Friend, on Aug. 29. It's the follow-up to 2024's Short n' Sweet, the album on which she's still currently touring. The second leg of her North American tour runs through November. In her July-August cover story for Rolling Stone, she explained why she didn't want to wait long between album cycles.
'If I really wanted to, I could have stretched out Short n' Sweet much, much longer,' she said. 'But I'm at that point in my life where I'm like, 'Wait a second, there's no rules.' If I'm inspired to write and make something new, I would rather do that. Why would I wait three years just for the sake of waiting three years? It's all about what feels right. I'm learning to listen to that a lot more, instead of what is perceived as the right or wrong move.'

Kanye West Ex-Staffer Seeking $100K in Legal Fees for ‘Frivolous' Effort to Block Lawsuit

A former Yeezy staffer who says Kanye West subjected her to a 'calculated campaign' of antisemitic and sexual harassment says she was forced to spend nearly $100,000 in legal fees fighting his failed attempt to dismiss her lawsuit – and he should be on the hook for the full amount. The marketing specialist, who sued in February as a Jane Doe, claims her turbulent tenure working for Yeezy in late 2023 and 2024 was filled with verbal abuse, discrimination, and 'constant degradation of women.' She claims West, also known as Ye, sent her harassing texts reading, 'Welcome to the first day of working for Hitler,' and 'Hail Hitler,' before her abrupt termination when she reported West's behavior to her manager. She further claims West once texted her a photo of a nude woman and ordered her to work on his Yeezy Porn venture against her wishes. In April, he filed his motion to strike the complaint, claiming the ex-staffer was trying to 'suppress' his constitutionally protected right to artistic expression. 'Ye is not merely a creator; he is art,' the filing said. 'Ye's public and private personas form a continuous, provocative performance that challenges societal taboos surrounding race, religion, gender, power, politics, and censorship.' A Los Angeles County judge denied West's motion in a June 30 ruling. Judge Theresa M. Traber said the motion was 'rife with defects, specious arguments, and misstatements of law.' She said the declarations West submitted from alleged witnesses, including one from West's self-described chief of staff, Milo Yiannopoulos, were 'totally lacking in personal knowledge or proper foundation upon which to base their asserted opinions.' In her scathing ruling, Judge Traber said the motion was 'frivolous and/or solely intended to cause unnecessary delay,' so West was on the hook to pay for Doe's 'reasonable' attorney's fees and costs. The woman is now asking for $99,720. A hearing to determine the fairness of that amount is set for Sept. 12. West's lawyers did not respond to a request for comment on the amount. They are appealing the ruling that upheld the lawsuit. In a failed filing last month that sought to disqualify the judge, they said Jane Doe 'voluntarily entered a provocative creative environment' and later tried to reframe West's creative expression as 'unlawful,' in an alleged violation of West's First Amendment right to free speech. The rapper, meanwhile, has been sued more than a dozen times since his initial, highly public antisemitic tirade nearly three years ago. In October 2022, West tweeted his now-infamous plan to 'go death con 3 ON JEWISH PEOPLE.' Weeks later, Rolling Stone published an investigation that found West presided over a 'toxic' work environment at his Yeezy label, telling one staffer that 'skinheads and Nazis were his greatest inspiration.' West later apologized in an Instagram post written in Hebrew, but he again promoted antisemitic ideology, sporting a T-shirt for the Norwegian metal musician Burzum, who has been fined for antisemitism. West also promoted Vultures 1 with artwork that evoked Burzum's cover art. 'Ye waged a relentless and deliberate campaign of antisemitism and misogyny against my client,' Jane Doe's attorney, Carney Shegerian of Shegerian & Associates, said in a statement last February. 'His appalling treatment of women and fixation on Nazism, evident in abusive texts where he repeatedly calls himself Hitler, expose his motives. We need to stop excusing Ye's behavior. As a father, husband, and employer, he must be held accountable. Ye dared my client to sue, and we will see him in court.' West's visa to Australia was revoked last month in the aftermath of his single titled 'Heil Hitler,' which he released in May. Soulja Boy Released from Custody as Gun Charge Rejected by Prosecutors

Soulja Boy was released from custody Tuesday after California prosecutors declined to file charges following his arrest over the weekend on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm. 'A case was declined due to insufficient evidence,' a spokesman with the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office wrote in an email sent to Rolling Stone. The 'Crank That' rapper was released from jail shortly before 2 p.m. local time, according to online records. The car, a Tesla, was stopped because it allegedly had tinted windows, prosecutors revealed in their charge evaluation worksheet obtained by Rolling Stone. '[Officers] discovered a firearm in the rear seat near a suspect. Both the suspect and the driver denied owning the firearm,' the worksheet said. Despite the denial, Way was booked on suspicion of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. The rapper, 35, has a store for his SODMG clothing line on Melrose Avenue, near the location where he was arrested. He spent two nights in jail awaiting the charging decision. Way made headlines in April when a jury awarded one of his former girlfriends $4 million in damages for her claims he assaulted, sexually battered, and harassed her. He previously was convicted of carrying a loaded firearm in a vehicle following his 2014 arrest in L.A.'s San Fernando Valley. Britain's Royal Mail celebrates Monty Python with stamps featuring iconic sketches and characters

LONDON (AP) — And now for something completely different: Britain's Royal Mail has issued stamps celebrating the absurdist comedy of Monty Python. The 10-stamp series announced on Thursday celebrates some of the troupe's most iconic characters and catchphrases, from 'Nudge, nudge' to 'The Lumberjack Song.' Six stamps depict scenes from the sketch-comedy TV series 'Monty Python's Flying Circus,' including 'The Spanish Inquisition,' 'The Ministry of Silly Walks," 'Dead Parrot' and 'The Nude Organist.' Another four mark the 50th anniversary of the cult classic 1975 film 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail,' including one showing the limb-losing Black Knight insisting, ''Tis but a scratch.' The stamps can be pre-ordered from Thursday and go on sale Aug. 14. Made up of Michael Palin, John Cleese, Eric Idle, Terry Gilliam, Terry Jones and Graham Chapman, Monty Python brought a unique blend of satire, surrealism and silliness to British TV screens in a series that ran from 1969 to 1974. The troupe also made several feature films, including 'And Now for Something Completely Different,' 'Monty Python's Life of Brian' and 'Monty Python's The Meaning of Life.' David Gold, Royal Mail's director of external affairs, said the collection 'honors a body of work that has shaped the comedic landscape for nearly six decades.' Palin said he was 'very glad to share a stamp with the nude organist!' The group largely disbanded in the 1980s, and Chapman died of cancer in 1989. The five surviving Pythons reunited in 2014 for a string of live stage shows. Jones died in 2020 from a rare form of dementia.
