Accor's Emblems Collection brand to debut in UK
Accor's Emblems Collection brand is set to make its UK debut with the introduction of Lucknam Park Hotel & Spa.
Currently a country house hotel, the property will join the collection's Heritage category.
Lucknam Park Hotel & Spa is situated six miles from Bath and features a Michelin-starred restaurant, a wellness spa, an equestrian centre, and 500 acres of parkland.
The hotel features 42 individually styled rooms and nine cottages for guests.
Chloe Laskaridis is a member of the family that owns Lucknam Park, the owner of Lucknam Park Hotel & Spa.
Laskaridis said: 'At Lucknam Park, we recognise the importance of welcoming change and progress whilst also protecting our heritage and independence.
'Joining Emblems Collection will ensure that our award-winning team at Lucknam Park will continue to elevate and offer the same attention to detail and home-away-from-home feeling we have always provided to our much-loved guests, whilst also reaching a wider, global audience.'
The forthcoming Lucknam Park, Emblems Collection will undergo enhancements to maintain its identity.
The Emblems Collection is expected to unveil the new Lucknam Park, Emblems Collection later this year, marking an expansion of its luxury portfolio in the UK.
Emblems has already signed ten hotels and is on pace to have 15 in development by the end of 2025. Properties in the pipeline include Elatos Resort near Athens, Greece, set to open in 2026, and the Hotel Bellevue Cortina d'Ampezzo in Italy.
In 2023, Accor partnered with Zhejiang Tourism Investment Group to open a new Emblems Collection brand hotel in China featuring 126 rooms.

After several years of post-pandemic recovery in fits and starts, there's an energy in the air in the Bay Area food world. Just look at what's slated to open this summer, which starts June 20. A modern Cantonese restaurant whose chef wants to push the envelope when it comes to Chinese food. Spinoffs from Michelin-starred restaurants, including a bakery and a gelato shop. Restaurants specializing in fresh soba noodles, heritage breed chickens, Cantonese barbecue and hyper-regional French cuisine. Plus, this summer brings second outposts of two daytime San Francisco favorites — Asian-American bakery Breadbelly and bagel shop Schlok's — and a new seafood market from acclaimed restaurant Nopa. And on the Peninsula, an exciting Korean-Taiwanese restaurant is opening its doors. Projected opening: late July Gelateria di Cotogna One of the delights of eating at San Francisco's Cotogna has long been the abundant gelato cart that roamed the Italian restaurant's dining room. Soon, the housemade gelato will have its own home: a shop a few blocks away. Jennifer Felton, executive pastry chef for Cotogna, Quince and Verjus, is behind the gelato program. Expect flavors from vanilla honeycomb and chocolate stracciatella to seasonal creations like aprium (an apricot-plum hybrid fruit) or strawberries grown on the restaurant's private farm. Projected opening: late summer The Happy Crane Given his fine-dining background, you might expect chef James Yeun Leong Parry to devote his upcoming Cantonese restaurant, the Happy Crane, to inventive reinterpretations of classic dishes. He will. But Leong Parry also wants to perfect those classics, like Peking duck and char siu. The chef, who previously worked at the three-Michelin-star Benu in San Francisco as well as Michelin-starred restaurants in Hong Kong, became known at his popup of the same name for dishes that meld his half-Chinese identity and culinary expertise, like char siu made with pork jowl smoked with compressed apple and fennel. Expect the same creativity at the Hayes Valley restaurant, on a prominent corner with floor-to-ceiling glass walls. — E.K. Projected opening: August La Cigale La Cigale, an ambitious, regional French restaurant from a veteran chef, will arrive in San Francisco's Glen Park neighborhood this summer. Joseph Magidow, who previously worked at top San Francisco restaurants including the Delfina, Locanda and the now-closed Tawla, will channel the cuisine of the Occitania region in southwestern France. Projected opening: summer 679 Chenery St., San Francisco. Parachute A bakery with Michelin-star cred is headed to San Francisco's Ferry Building. It will be devoted to laminated pastries that highlight seasonal produce from the famed farmers market located steps outside its front doors, plus coffee and other confections. Executive pastry chef Nasir Zainulabadin, formerly of Sorrel and the two-Michelin-star Saison, will oversee Parachute. The owners will open Parachute in the former Slanted Door space along with Arquet, a full-service restaurant focused on Californian cuisine and wood-fired cooking coming later this year. — E.K. Projected opening: July 1 Ferry Building, Suite 5, San Francisco. Quack House After moving out of Chinatown last year, the family behind storied Cantonese barbecue shop Hing Lung will soon reopen at its relocated, and rebranded main shop. Going by Quack House, expect the same expertly roasted ducks and racks of pork ribs from brothers Eric and Simon Cheung. Also making a comeback are duck liver sausages, Chinese bacon and traditional Hong Kong-style rice plates. The new operation complements the siblings' other project, Cantonese barbecue restaurant Go Duck Yourself, but in a return to Hing Lung's origins, Quack House will offer birds and pork chopped up and served by the pound. — M.C. Projected opening: late summer 927 Post St., San Francisco. Stereo 41 A former PG&E customer service office is shaping up as the place to be in Walnut Creek. Starting this summer, Stereo 41 will offer Middle Eastern dishes in a space channeling the style and sounds of Japanese hi-fi bars. Stereo 41 comes from an ambitious team that includes Victor Ghaben of hot chicken specialist World Famous Hot Boys and Sofia Sabet, his sister and owner of adjacent restaurant Lita. The siblings worked with Andres Giraldo Flores of Oakland's Snail Bar in developing the menu. Leading the kitchen is executive chef Jonathan De La Torre, who has worked at San Francisco landmark restaurants such as Mourad, Nopa and Quince. — M.C. Projected opening: late summer 1535 Bonanza St. Walnut Creek. Soba Dining Sora Soba noodles don't often get the spotlight in the Bay Area, where only a few restaurants specialize in this Japanese buckwheat noodle. But Soba Dining Sora is adding to the local roster this summer. The restaurant, with two locations in Japan's Saitama Prefecture, will open in Japantown next to sibling restaurant Hinodeya Ramen. The restaurant has become known for its nutty noodles made fresh and served with bonito dipping sauce and tempura, or as part of a set meal which can include duck loin or assorted sashimi in a relaxed, casual environment. — M.C. Expected opening: midsummer 1731 Buchanan St., San Francisco. Super Mensch There's a new restaurant paying homage to East Coast-style Jewish delis coming to San Francisco's Marina District. Super Mensch is the newest venture from the Causwells team, who operate next door, with chef Adam Rosenblum serving nostalgic homages to the Reubens on rye and other Jewish American dishes he grew up eating. Expect sandwiches stacked with pastrami cured in-house and fresh baked bagels topped with lox. As expected from the Causwells team, bar director Elmer Mejicanos has prepared elaborate cocktails that tap into New York deli staples like black and white cookies and celery-flavored sodas. — M.C. Projected opening: August 2336 Chestnut St., San Francisco. Tsujita Artisan Noodle One of Los Angeles' most famous ramen shops is coming to the Bay Area: Tsujita Artisan Noodle, opening its first Northern California location in San Jose this month. People line up at Tsujita for its speciality: tsukemen, or cold ramen noodles served with a warm dipping sauce on the side. Tsujita serves bowls of thick, chewy noodles crowned with chashu, seasoned eggs and other toppings; plus spicy and vegan variations and Japanese beer and sake. Miami's hottest new bakery is in a parking lot. Get there early if you want to try it
The hottest bakery in Miami isn't located in the hottest part of town. You won't find it in Brickell or Little River. It's not tucked away in a hidden speakeasy in Wynwood. You won't even find it in the bountiful strip malls of Kendall or Westchester, where tiny spots have been known to thrive. Instead, you'll find Ophelia parked beneath a few shady trees in a lot between office buildings on busy South Dixie Highway. You'll also find it on wheels, in a mini RV. The impossibly cute mobile bakery is the creation of chefs Ana De Sa Martins and Juan Viera, both veterans of Jeremy Ford's Michelin-starred Stubborn Seed restaurant in Miami Beach. They opened Ophelia's doors — or rather, its serving windows — just two weeks ago, and already have amassed a passionate customer base eager for the pastries within. 'It's very homey,' Viera says of the RV, which he designed. 'It feels like a dollhouse.' Arrive when the window opens at 8 a.m. if you want a shot at the bakery's most prized items. Take your pick from the day's offerings: banana walnut bread, chocolate babka, cinnamon rolls, classic chocolate chunk cookies or sesame guava cookies. There's even a olive oil lemon cake with blueberries, a specialty De Sa Martins, who grew up in Venezuela, perfected as executive pastry chef at Stubborn Seed that's also served at Ford's restaurant Salt & Ash in the Florida Keys. There are savory options, too, courtesy of Viera: broccoli hot pockets and Calabrian cheese rolls, for example, as well as a gloriously dripping, flavorful, must-have egg and bacon sandwich on an English muffin. You can order a variety of coffees, too. Viera, who grew up in Miami and worked as a chef at Stubborn Seed, says the menu was built on nostalgia. 'I grew up in a house with a single mom and two kids, so breakfast was often an Egg McMuffin,' he says. 'So I love eating an English muffin breakfast sandwich. A lot of things here are nostalgic for us. Like the hot pockets. They remind us of our childhoods growing up.' Opening the bakery was a labor of love for the couple, who met at Stubborn Seed. De Sa Martins had been there since 2020; Viera, who had also worked at The Surf Club in Surfside, was there for two years. Both helped the team open Beauty and the Butcher in Coral Gables (which Ford is no longer associated with). De Sa Martins said that though she learned a lot at the restaurant, she had started to wonder about the future. 'I worked hard for that company,' she says. 'At the same time, I'm 32, and a little voice was telling me 'Why don't you start something of your own?' It felt like it was time to do something.' A torn Achilles tendon that kept Viera off his feet for a couple of months gave him time to consider the idea, too. He felt he had lost his drive for fine dining and started cooking at the now-shuttered Union Beer Store in Little Havana. On her days off, De Sa Martins popped over to help him run food. After one insanely busy night of service, they realized they were enjoying themselves and not feeling burned out. 'We were like, 'This is super fun!' ' Viera says. 'We weren't exhausted. At a fine dining restaurant, after service, you're just beat up. But we were thrilled this was so much fun.' The Union Beer interlude kicked off the search for a brick-and-mortar spot, always a difficult process in Miami's expensive and ever-shifting culinary landscape. The couple was skeptical at the idea of a food truck, but then they landed on the idea to have a vintage RV designed by Viera built instead. 'We weren't sure what to expect, but we were super happy,' Viera says of the outcome. The couple starts work early every morning — De Sa Martins says she gets up at 3 a.m. — to prepare. They make the pastries in a commissary kitchen early in the week and bring them to Ophelia on the days it's open by 7 a.m. What they also didn't expect was immediate popularity. Neighbors out walking their dogs stop by — and return. Cars pull up as well: early morning workout fanatics on their way home from the gym and random drivers who just wondered what was happening in the parking lot. Even more often, customers spotted the bakery on wheels on social media and just had to give it a try. Lines form quickly, especially on the weekends, and sought-after items like the cinnamon rolls sell out quickly. The items are so alluring, many customers are perfectly happy eating breakfast in their cars, even though there's a shaded outdoor table. The crush of business has been disconcerting but welcome. 'I'm glad it happened this way,' De Sa Martins says. 'It's a good problem to have. What business doesn't want to sell everything they make? But we were not prepared. We thought it would be low key, because it's summer, and now we can't keep up with production.' Viera says they're considering limiting the number of cinnamon rolls people can buy — 'People come in with four different orders to deliver to friends, and we're honored they're doing that, but it's not fair for the other people in line.' He says the menu will change seasonally. There's a mango Danish on the horizon, this being mango-mad Miami, and they're playing with the idea of creating a strawberry Zebra Cake with red and blue stripes for the Fourth of July. And, having learned at Stubborn Seed that evolving is key to success, they're already thinking ahead. 'We're starting to think about what the next step is going to be,' De Sa Martins says.
