Shanghai Electric has formalised agreements with Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar) and Oman's Mawarid Group for major renewable energy projects across both Middle Eastern nations.
The partnerships will focus on advancing clean energy through technology deployment, localised manufacturing, and multi-sector collaboration.
The agreement with Masdar involves the development of a 2GW solar power project in Saudi Arabia.
In Oman, the agreement with Mawarid focuses on wind energy cooperation.
Saudi solar project, named Sadawi, marks Shanghai Electric's most extensive solar EPC venture to date. It will be developed in collaboration with Masdar.
The 40km² plant will produce more than six billion kilowatt-hours annually. It is expected to supply electricity to 700,000 homes and reduce emissions by three million tonnes.
The project employs modern photovoltaic systems to harness Saudi Arabia's solar potential. It forms a significant part of the country's national renewable strategy.
The Saudi initiative contributes to efforts aimed at reducing fossil fuel use. It also supports Shanghai Electric's expansion into solar markets in the region.
In Oman, the partnership includes wind turbine supply, technology exchange, and plans for a local production facility. The agreement promotes regional manufacturing and knowledge sharing.
The initiative seeks to utilise Oman's wind resources and stimulate the domestic industry. It is also intended to drive long-term development through energy diversification.
This wind energy project supports Oman's broader goal of shifting from conventional fuels to cleaner alternatives. It also enhances technological collaboration between China and Arab countries.
Shanghai Electric Group chairman Wu Lei said: 'This is a new starting point for Shanghai Electric and Masdar to carry out comprehensive cooperation and an important milestone for Shanghai Electric to further establish itself in the Middle East's new energy market.
'I hope both parties will work together to create a benchmark demonstration project and contribute more to the global energy transition."
Both agreements reflect the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 and Oman Vision 2040, and they prioritise sustainable energy, local involvement, and cross-sector cooperation.
Masdar CEO Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi said: 'Masdar attaches great importance to its partnership with Shanghai Electric and looks forward to further deepening cooperation with them in wind power, photovoltaics, energy storage, and other fields in the future to jointly promote the transformation of the global energy structure."

The Saudi Arabia Fruit & Vegetables Processing Market offers growth opportunities driven by increasing demand for convenient, nutritious foods among an urbanizing population. Technological advancements in processing enhance product quality and shelf life, aligning with Vision 2030's focus on sustainability and innovation. Saudi Arabian Fruit & Vegetables Processing Market Dublin, June 09, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The "Saudi Arabia Fruit & Vegetables Processing Market by Region, Competition, Forecast & Opportunities, 2020-2030F" has been added to offering. The Saudi Arabia Fruit & Vegetables Processing Market was valued at USD 724.56 Million in 2024 and is projected to reach USD 1.13 Billion by 2030, rising at a CAGR of 7.76% This growth is fueled by increasing demand for convenient and nutritious food products, supported by a growing urban population and rising health awareness. As consumers seek ready-to-eat and minimally processed options, the market benefits from advancements in technologies such as freeze-drying, vacuum sealing, and canning, which enhance product shelf life and nutritional retention. The government's support for domestic agriculture and food processing under Vision 2030, along with enhanced logistics infrastructure, is creating favorable conditions for both local manufacturers and foreign investors. These developments are expanding the product portfolio and improving access to processed fruits and vegetables across the Kingdom. Technological Innovation in Processing Methods The adoption of modern processing technologies is significantly driving the fruit and vegetable processing market in Saudi Arabia. Automation, robotics, and AI are transforming production by improving efficiency, reducing manual labor, and increasing output quality. IoT-enabled systems allow for real-time monitoring and predictive maintenance, reducing downtime and operational costs. Innovations such as cold chain systems help preserve freshness, extending product shelf life and meeting the demand for convenient, high-quality foods. Furthermore, smart packaging solutions that include QR codes and RFID tags offer better traceability and product transparency. These technological developments align with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, emphasizing sustainability, innovation, and food security within the processing sector. Supply Chain Disruptions The Saudi fruit and vegetable processing industry faces considerable challenges due to supply chain vulnerabilities. Heavy reliance on imported raw materials makes the sector sensitive to international trade disruptions, pricing instability, and shipping delays. Domestic production is subject to seasonal fluctuations, affecting raw material availability and production continuity. Inadequate cold chain logistics and infrastructure gaps exacerbate spoilage risks and impact product quality. The COVID-19 pandemic further exposed weaknesses in labor availability and transportation systems. Addressing these challenges requires investment in robust logistics networks, improved cold chain systems, and diversification of sourcing to ensure stability and support market growth. Cold Chain Infrastructure Investment Investments in cold chain infrastructure are emerging as a vital trend supporting the growth of Saudi Arabia's fruit and vegetable processing market. With an increasing focus on food security and minimizing post-harvest losses, the Kingdom is developing advanced temperature-controlled storage and transport systems. These facilities help retain freshness, improve shelf life, and reduce waste - key factors in meeting the rising consumer demand for fresh and convenient foods. Strategic enhancements in major logistics hubs like Riyadh and Jeddah have boosted distribution efficiency. Integration of automation and real-time tracking technologies is further streamlining supply chains, lowering operational costs, and enhancing delivery reliability. This trend is expected to continue as the retail sector evolves and consumer preferences shift toward processed yet high-quality food offerings. Al Hilal put this Man United star in their transfer list following Osimhen's rejection

Al Hilal is reportedly searching for a new forward who can help them win more trophies next season. By Ravi Kumar Jha Published on June 9, 2025, 18:53 IST Al Hilal is reportedly searching for a new forward who can help them win more trophies next season. Saudi club tried to sign Victor Osimhen but the player rejected the offer and the deal collapsed. However, as per multiple reports, Al Hilal is trying to sign Manchester United's Jadon Sancho who was on loan at Chelsea last season and doesn't want to play for the Red Devils anymore. It is just the initial interest and nothing has been concrete yet. Saudi Arabian giants Al Hilal are reportedly in the market for a new forward as they look to bolster their attack ahead of the new season. The club, which has enjoyed domestic and continental success in recent years, is aiming to strengthen its squad further to maintain their dominance. Al Hilal recently attempted to lure Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen from Napoli, but the deal collapsed after the player turned down their offer. The setback hasn't deterred the Riyadh-based club, as fresh reports suggest they have now turned their attention to Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho. Sancho, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Chelsea, is believed to be reluctant to return to Old Trafford following his fallout with manager Erik ten Hag. While Al Hilal's interest is still at an early stage, sources close to the situation claim the Saudi side is monitoring the English forward's availability closely. BofA Sees Saudis Embarking on Long But Shallow Oil-Price War

(Bloomberg) -- OPEC+'s oil-output hikes are part of a Saudi strategy that will see the kingdom embark on a long but shallow price war designed to recapture market share, Bank of America Corp.'s head of commodities research said. US Housing Agency Vulnerable to Fraud After DOGE Cuts, Documents Warn Senator Calls for Closing Troubled ICE Detention Facility in New Mexico The producer group, of which Saudi Arabia is the de-facto leader, announced a third output increase of more than 400,000 barrels a day last month, bigger than previously planned. The additions are reversing years of supply curbs that were aimed at keeping prices higher. 'It's not a price war that is going to be short and steep; rather it's going to be a price war that is long and shallow,' BofA's Francisco Blanch said in a Bloomberg Television interview. That reflects a desire to take market share from US shale, which is in relatively good health but faces higher costs of production, he said. The kingdom is also working to regain market share from fellow OPEC+ members, according to Blanch. 'They've done this price support already by themselves for three-plus years,' which has allowed competitors' output to rise, he said. 'They're done with that.' Blanch noted that the change in strategy is already producing results, with the latest US oil-drilling data from Baker Hughes Co. showing the lowest rig count in about four years. --With assistance from Jonathan Ferro and Lisa Abramowicz.
