Baraya Extended Care secures $124m for Saudi Arabia expansion

Long-term care and rehabilitation services provider Baraya Extended Care has closed a Series B fundraising round, securing $124m to expand its network of inpatient facilities and outpatient clinics across Saudi Arabia. Led by TVM Capital Healthcare through its TVM Healthcare Afiyah Fund, the funding also includes contributions from co-investors and exceeded its initial target. Baraya Extended Care CEO Jad Halaby said: "With TVM Capital Healthcare's support and expertise in this healthcare vertical, we are uniquely positioned to combine international standards with local expertise, improving outcomes and quality of life for patients and families across Saudi Arabia." This financial milestone arrives at a time when the nation is grappling with an aging population, a rise in chronic conditions, and a growing demand for specialised post-acute care. These challenges are part of the broader context of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 and Health Sector Transformation Program. Baraya Extended Care, established in 2023, has already inaugurated two outpatient rehabilitation clinics in Jeddah and Riyadh, delivering over 9,000 sessions monthly. The company also plans to open a 216-bed long-term care and rehabilitation hospital by early 2026. TVM Capital Healthcare's investment in Baraya builds on its experience in the Middle Eastern post-acute care market, including previous investments in ProVita International Medical Center and Cambridge Medical & Rehabilitation Center (CMRC). In these ventures, TVM Capital Healthcare played a role in shaping regulatory frameworks and developing specialised management and workforce strategies. TVM Capital Healthcare managing partner and deal lead Orhan Osmansoy said: "With a scalable platform and plans to increase capacity to approximately 650 beds in the coming years, Baraya is well-positioned to become a leader in extended care services." The investment will bolster Baraya's growth strategy, which encompasses the establishment of major inpatient facilities and outpatient clinics, following a hub-and-spoke model. "Baraya Extended Care secures $124m for Saudi Arabia expansion" was originally created and published by Hospital Management, a GlobalData owned brand. Three Wheelers defy market slump as auto industry navigates challenges

Mumbai, July 15 (UNI) India's automotive sector delivered a mixed performance during the first quarter of FY2025-26, with most segments registering marginal declines despite record achievements in select categories, according to Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) data released here today. Passenger vehicle sales dipped 1.4% year-on-year to 1.01 million units, though crossing the million-unit threshold for the second consecutive Q1. The segment witnessed divergent trends: utility vehicles grew 3.8% to command 66% market share, while passenger cars declined 11.2%. Exports surged 13.2% to 204,000 units - a quarterly record - fueled by Middle Eastern, Latin American, and emerging market demand under preferential trade agreements. Two-wheeler wholesales fell 6.2% to 4.67 million units amid industry-wide inventory corrections, despite 5% retail growth driven by wedding season demand. Scooters gained 2.15% market share within the segment, while exports jumped 23.2% to 1.14 million units on revived neighboring markets. Three-wheelers emerged as the standout performer, achieving historic Q1 sales of 165,000 units with 0.1% growth. Urban transport demand boosted passenger carriers, while cargo variants rode intracity logistics growth supported by easier financing. Exports soared 34.4% to 96,000 units. Commercial vehicle sales declined marginally by 0.6% to 223,000 units. "While three-wheelers achieved their highest-ever Q1 performance, other segments faced headwinds," stated SIAM Director General Rajesh Menon, noting passenger vehicles and two-wheelers contracted 1.4% and 6.2% respectively. Industry leaders express cautious optimism for Q2, banking on festive season demand, potential rural recovery from forecasted above-normal monsoons, and improved affordability from the Reserve Bank of India's 100-basis-point cumulative rate cuts. Supply chain concerns persist, particularly regarding China's new export controls on rare earth magnets critical for EV manufacturing. UNI AAA BM

Going for Dubai holidays? Archana Puran Singh warns about how she lost thousands while ticket booking for a popular tourist destination

Dubai, with its glimmering skyline, lavish experiences, and impeccable order, rarely conjures images of petty scams. But for Archana Puran Singh and her family, a recent getaway to the Middle Eastern metropolis came with an unexpected jolt. The Great Indian Kapil Show judge took to her YouTube channel to share how what was meant to be an exciting indoor skydiving experience turned into a frustrating—and expensive—lesson in online fraud. While on vacation with husband and actor-director Parmeet Sethi and their sons Aaryamann and Ayushmaan, Archana booked slots for iFly Dubai, a popular indoor skydiving adventure. The family was excited and all set to tick another experience off their bucket list—until they arrived at the location and learned there was no reservation in their name. 'We've Been Scammed' In her vlog, Archana candidly narrated the ordeal. 'We had booked three slots in iFly Dubai, but this lady is saying that we have no booking. We have been scammed because the website where we made the payment is not theirs. Dubai mein hamare paise doob gaye,' she said, visibly upset. Known for her cheerful screen presence, the actor couldn't hide her disbelief. 'I never expected this to happen in Dubai. There are such strict rules and laws here. People are scared of doing such things,' she added. Parmeet Sethi, standing beside her, echoed the shock. 'I am shocked... Thousands of rupees are gone,' he said, before joking nervously, 'Pata chale yahi scam hai,' referring to the real ticket counter they were then forced to purchase from—this time in cash. Small Clues, Big Realisation As the family retraced the booking steps, it became clear there had been subtle red flags. Aaryamann recalled, 'When I selected a four-minute package, the site suddenly changed it to two. I thought it was a technical glitch.' He admitted not verifying further, assuming a city like Dubai would not permit such lapses in legitimacy. You Might Also Like: No car or equity shares in Netflix. By the time the family put the pieces together, the damage was done. The fraudulent website had vanished and no trace of the transaction could be retrieved. A Glamorous City, A Glaring Flaw The incident has sparked conversations online not just about travel scams, but also about how even tech-savvy, well-informed individuals can be tricked in unexpected places. Dubai, a city lauded for its orderliness and strict enforcement of laws, seemed an unlikely place for such deception to occur. Perhaps that's why Archana's story has struck a chord with many of her followers—it feels personal, surprising, and deeply relatable. While the actor didn't reveal the exact amount lost, she repeatedly emphasized the high cost of the tickets. Parmeet eventually purchased new tickets in cash so the family could still enjoy the experience, but the bitter taste of being duped remained. A Vlog With a Warning Archana's vlog—usually filled with joy, travel highlights, and light-hearted family banter—took a more serious tone in this episode. While fans appreciated the transparency, many also commented that it serves as a powerful reminder: scams today are sophisticated, and no one is truly immune.
