India, Nepal hold military drill after intel on Pak terrorists in Himalayan nation
India and Nepal on Friday conducted a joint combing operation and patrolling along the international border after New Delhi received inputs about suspected terrorists from Pakistan present in the Himalayan nation.India's Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and the Armed Police Force (APF) of Nepal are engaged in searching for the suspects by conducting checking operations in the dense forests with their weapons.

"During joint patrolling, soldiers from Nepal are with us in the fight against terrorism. We have very good relations with the Nepali forces. Every month, coordination meetings of the border forces of both countries are held. They are sharing their intelligence with us and we are sharing ours with them so that the suspects can be identified," SSB Commandant Ganga Singh told India Today TV.He said there is a markaz in Nepalgunj where people from Pakistan come for special functions. "If something goes wrong, then these people inform us," he added.

advertisementSpeaking about the intel inputs of a possible terror attack in Ayodhya, Singh said any place can be targeted by Pakistani terrorists and that Nepali forces are continuously cooperating with the SSB.The SSB forces are also keeping an eye on the Nepal border from watch towers and ready to handle any crisis with their INSAS guns.India and Nepal share a border spanning more than 1,700 km, but there is no fencing along the boundary lines. State pushed back 330 illegal foreigners: CM
1 2 3 Guwahati: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday informed a one-day special sitting of the legislative assembly that about 330 illegal foreigners have been pushed back from the state so far and govt is waiting for floods to recede to send back another 35 individuals. "Of the 330 people we have pushed back, none of them have returned. It is impossible for them to return now," he added. He said the process of evicting illegal foreigners from Assam will now be intensified and expedited. "As Pakistani elements and fundamentalist elements from Bangladesh have entered Assam, we have to be proactive like never before to protect the state from these elements," Sarma added. He said this is also the reason why state govt has decided to revive Immigration (Expulsion from Assam) act of 1950 and enforce it. "Under this law, a deputy commissioner can push back whoever he finds to be an illegal foreigner without referring them to the Foreigners' Tribunals," he added. He reiterated that those having appeals in courts will not be touched. Sarma said a constitutional bench of the Supreme Court recently ruled that the IEA Act is in force and the state govt can proceed under its provisions.

Probe launched against Tripura Cong leader for ‘defaming' CM
Agartala: Police on Monday launched a search against Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) spokesperson Md Sahajan Islam for alleged defaming narratives and expressions against chief minister Manik Saha on Sunday night in a Facebook live. The officer-in-charge of East Agartala police station, Rana Chatterjee, said Sahajan's deliberation has triggered political unrest and hurt the communal sentiment of the people. He had made derogatory comments on the professional and personal life of the CM that is completely illegal. "Indian law doesn't permit the citizen to make a personal attack on the head of a state," Chatterjee said, adding that a specific case has been registered against Islam, who is absconding, based on a complaint and police have also launched an investigation. He allegedly made several posts on social media in communal lines alleging that saffron cadres obstructed the celebration of Bakri Eid in several locations of the state, and in a few places, they stopped the transportation of cows.
