Here's The Only ‘Squid Game' Season 2 Recap You Need To Watch Before Season 3
Squid Game
Squid Game is coming to an end tomorrow with the release of season 3, not all that long after season 2 in December 2024. The reason being there is because both were shot back-to-back, and really, it was essentially one large season split in half.
That said, December is still six months ago, and it's easy to forget what happened, including key details like who is actually still alive. Well, if you want a recap, a short one, an official one, Netflix has released probably the only Squid Game season 2 you need to watch:
It's just under three minutes and has already been viewed three-quarters of a million times, so yes, this is probably the go-to, which includes the games, the deaths, and where things ended up in the end. Spoiler: not in a great spot with the Front Man revealed and the games soldiering on. Squid Game creator Hwang Dong-hyuk has said explicitly that we should not expect a happy ending for the show. He also said that this may not be the end of the show at all, per an interview with EW, even if this specific arc is done. But we may even return to the characters in a prequel spinoff:
"I actually had this faint ideation about possibly a spinoff — not a sequel, but maybe a spinoff about the three-year gap between season 1 and season 2 when Gi-hun [Lee Jung-jae] looks around for the recruiters," Hwang said. "There is that three-year period, and maybe I could have a portrayal of what the recruiters or Captain Park [Oh Dal-su] or officers or masked men were doing in that period, not inside the gaming arena, but their life outside of that. So that is some vague ideation that I have that could possibly be developed in the future."
So yeah, we have that to look forward to, maybe, in let's say, 2029, at the earliest.
As for recaps, if you do want one longer than three minutes, you can watch this 26(!) minute offering from Stan Lee Presents, going over the entire span of the show:
Squid Game season 2 did not quite reach the viewership highs of season 1, but despite that, it is still one of the most-watched seasons of any Netflix show ever, and I expect things will increase given that we are finally at the final. That drops tomorrow, June 27, and we'll see how it all plays out then.

Nintendo Switch 2 Exclusive Mario Kart World Is Selling Faster Than OG Switch Launch Title Zelda: Breath of the Wild in Japan
In Japan, Nintendo Switch 2 launch title Mario Kart World has sold more physical copies in the first three days on sale than Switch 1 launch title The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild managed in its first three days. According to Famitsu, Mario Kart World has sold a huge 782,566 copies in Japan already, making it the top-selling game for the week from June 2 to June 8. It is worth noting, however, that Famitsu's figures only cover physical, preinstalled-on-console, and Game-Key Card sales from retail outlets. They do not include digital downloads direct from My Nintendo Store, so the total number of Mario Kart World sales is likely far higher. In contrast, the Switch edition of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sold an estimated 193,060 copies in Japan over the first three days after the original Switch's launch back in 2017, according to Famitsu's figures. This means that in Japanese retail sales alone, Mario Kart World has sold around four times more copies than Breath of the Wild initially did on Switch 1. This is hardly surprising, considering the Switch 2 is Nintendo's fastest selling hardware to date, shifting over 3.5 million units worldwide in the first four days. In fact, Nintendo's latest console is outselling the original Switch 2-to-1 (no pun intended). The supply-constrained Switch 1 got off to a much slower start, selling 2.74 million units globally in just under a month. Over the first three days post-launch, physical Switch 2 games saw strong sales in Japan. Switch 2 titles accounted for half of Famitsu's top 10, with Switch 2 editions of Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma (No. 6, 10,877 copies), Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (No. 7, 7,992 copies), Zelda: Breath of the Wild (No. 8, 7,529 copies) and Yakuza 0 (No. 9, 7,486 copies) entering the charts. Elden Ring: Nightreign (PS5) was the only non-Switch title at No. Mario Kart World may be racing ahead of Breath of the Wilds' initial launch figures in Japan, it remains to be seen if it will eventually catch up with the critically acclaimed Zelda game's total sales. Especially considering that BOTW just got a Switch 2 HD rerelease, which may prompt fans to purchase the game all over again. Bobby Berk Talks Queer Eye Salary, Losing Money
Despite what it might seem like, reality stars are often paid an absolute pittance for their appearances on hit TV shows. Exhibit 1,000: Bobby Berk on Queer Eye. For context, Bobby left school at 15 and worked his way up various homeware companies before launching his own business in 2006. His interior design practice followed in 2015, before Queer Eye hit three years later. The designer announced that he was leaving the hit Netflix series in 2023, later explaining that he'd initially thought that the cast had agreed to wrap up the show beforehand. "Mentally and emotionally, I thought we all moved on. I know I did, and I started planning other things," he explained, attributing his choice to leave to not wanting to put the "brakes on multiple other projects that are already in process." Yesterday, the Networth and Chill podcast published an interview with Bobby where he broke down his finances over the years. When asked if he "made a lot of money" doing Queer Eye, he replied, "[The] first two seasons, I definitely lost money being on the show." "They were paying us basically nothing," he continued, noting that there was also "the amount of money that I was losing from not running my company and being gone." "Seasons 3 and 4, I probably broke even. To be frank, they never really paid us well, compared to what they pay scripted stars. I mean, we made a single-digit percentage," the 43-year-old said. Of course, his only income wasn't from Netflix. He added, "Obviously, what it did was open up doors for working with brands and companies. I remember over the years, fans would get annoyed with the Fab Five because we were often promoting brands, 'So sick of this!' And we're like, 'Well, girl, we don't make money off the show. This is our form of income. How do you think we continue to do the show?'" You can listen to the full podcast interview here. Looking for more LGBTQ+ or Pride content?
