Charges laid in fatal pedestrian hit-and-run in central Alberta

Police say they have laid charges in connection to a fatal hit-and-run in May involving a pedestrian outside of Wetaskiwin.
The charge comes over a month after the crash occurred.
On May 1, Mounties responded to a report of a fatal hit-and-run on Highway 13 west of Wetaskiwin at approximately 11:30 p.m.
The deceased was confirmed to be a 50-year-old woman from Montana First Nation.
RCMP were searching for a newer Chevy Silverado with a large white canopy.
A tip was received by police, identifying a potential suspect and vehicle.
On May 29, officers arrested a person and seized what is believed to be the truck involved in the hit-and-run.
The name of the person cannot be released until charges are sworn in court. The charge is failure to stop after an accident resulting in death.
They have been released and are set to appear in Alberta court on Aug. 5.
