Google AI mode for search is now rolling out in India as an experimental feature that you can manually enable from the Google app or website.
Google's AI Mode in Search is now rolling out for users in India this week, who can try out the new version of AI-powered Search both on mobile and the web. Search AI is going to be a big part of Google's own push in the arena as it looks to reinvent the Search wheel for many years to come.
Search with AI mode has been available in the US since its release at the I/O 2025 in May and now Google is offering it as a part of the Labs catalogue for its users in India.
The new AI Mode experiment in Search uses advanced reasoning, thinking and multimodal capabilities from Gemini to help with even your toughest questions. Google says, you can ask whatever's on your mind and get an AI-powered response with the ability to explore further with follow-up questions and helpful web links.
This is where the AI mode differs from the traditional search responses that Google has offered for decades. 'AI Mode does the heavy lifting for you, intelligently organizing information and gives you easy-to-digest breakdowns," the Google blog post shares.
You will find the new AI Mode for Search listed in the Google Labs section which you can open by clicking on the Beaker icon on the top-left of the Google mobile app, and top-right if you have Google Search open on the desktop. You are greeted with the 'Meet AI Mode' message at the top of the screen and below that you have the dialog box where you can ask anything.
However, there is a reason why Google is offering the AI Mode as an experiment, which means mistakes can happen with the information shared. 'This new mode is rooted in our core quality and safety systems, but it's still an early experiment and may make mistakes. Your feedback will help make it better," Google highlights the early days for this AI search option.
In the next few months, Search AI will also be able to read images and content from your phone's camera. Search Live is going to do all that by giving you the usual search results on the screen. You will see a Live icon in the Google app on Android and iOS and by tapping on the icon you can start conversing with Search and the AI-generated model will respond to any of your queries.
The new feature is available in AI mode for people in the US and you have to sign up for the Labs program that Google offers for its unreleased tools.

CoinDesk owner Bullish shares indicated to open 62% above IPO price

Shares of cryptocurrency exchange operator Bullish were indicated to open nearly 62% above their IPO on Wednesday, signaling growing investor confidence in the sector and boosting prospects for future U.S. listings by other digital asset firms. If the stock starts to trade at the last indicated range of $55 to $60 on the NYSE, it could potentially value the billionaire venture capitalist Peter Thiel-backed company at nearly $8.77 billion. Bullish raised $1.11 billion in the largest U.S. listing by a digital assets company this year, marking another sign of mainstream adoption in a sector that recently topped $4 trillion in market value. Bullish, which acquired cryptocurrency website CoinDesk in 2023, had priced the IPO at $37 per share â€' above an already upsized range, and was valued at $5.41 billion. A string of regulatory wins under a pro-crypto White House, corporate treasury adoption, and ETF inflows have prompted investors to embrace the once-scorned digital asset class, driving bellwether bitcoin to record highs. Several crypto firms, including exchange Gemini and asset manager Grayscale, are now aiming to go public during an IPO window revived by robust tech earnings, along with expectations of easing tariffs and interest rates.

OpenAI goes local in India, ChatGPT now available in INR: Check ChatGPT Plus, Pro prices here

OpenAI has started testing local pricing for ChatGPT in India, allowing users to pay in Indian rupees for the first time. This is part of a pilot programme and makes India one of the few countries where the company offers such an option, joining markets like the UK and parts of Europe. According to a MoneyControl report, the move seems aimed at making payments simpler and more accessible for Indian customers of ChatGPT, which is significant given that India is one of OpenAI's biggest and fastest-growing user part of the pilot, the ChatGPT Plus plan is priced at Rs 1,999 per month, including GST, while the higher-end Pro plan costs Rs 19,900 per month. Businesses using the Team plan will pay Rs 2,099 per seat per month. Until now, Indian users had to pay in US dollars, i.e. $20 (roughly Rs 1,750) for Plus, $200 (roughly Rs 17,500) for Pro, and $30 (roughly Rs 2,600) per seat for the Team plan. This rollout comes just after the release of GPT-5, OpenAI's latest and most advanced model. GPT-5 offers improved performance in 12 Indian languages, making it more relevant for the local market. There is also buzz about a more budget-friendly plan called ChatGPT Go, reportedly priced at Rs 399 per month, which could target casual users or local pricing was one of the key demands made to OpenAI CEO Sam Altman during his visit to India in February 2025, as per MoneyControl. Indian startup founders and developers had pointed out that high costs were a barrier to wider adoption. Earlier in June, OpenAI's vice president of engineering, Srinivas Narayanan, told MoneyControl that the company was working on making its tools more affordable for Indian developers as part of its global accessibility push. "India has incredibly creative developers with a deep tech ecosystem. You have people who actually are open to embracing new technology, along with a government which is super-excited about making AI more accessible through the National AI Mission," Narayanan is now OpenAI's second-largest market outside the US, and Altman has even suggested that it could soon overtake the US in terms of ChatGPT OpenAI isn't alone in chasing Indian users. Rivals like Google and Perplexity are also expanding aggressively. Perplexity is offering Bharti Airtel's 360 million customers a free one-year subscription to its premium tier (normally priced at Rs 17,000 annually), while Google is providing college students in India a year's free access to its AI tools.- Ends
