Annual event celebrates Madison Moore's dream of aiding sick kids
LINTON, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — An annual fundraising event that honors the late Madison Moore's dream of giving back to sick children in need is returning for its fifth year.
The annual event is hosted by Madi's Hope Foundation, an organization founded by Tera Orman after her daughter Madison Moore passed away at the age of 17. In 2018, Moore was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid leukemia. She then overcame her battle with cancer but fell ill to Graft vs. Host disease after a stem cell transplant and sadly passed away.
'I know she's smiling'; Madi Moore's legacy lives on in 'Day of Hope' event
While spending time at Riley's Children Hospital, Moore received gifts to help bring a smile to her face, even in the darkest of times. This generosity prompted Moore to tell her mom that one day she wanted to be on the other side and help other sick children smile.
'She said, 'mom, one day I want to be on the other side of gift giving. I want to bring gifts to others and help them smile and feel better, the same way they helped me,'' said Omar.
Even though Moore was unable to see her dream fulfilled before passing, her mother is determined to continue her daughter's legacy. Omar said the goal will always be to help sick children in need.
'Helping other kids was Madi's heart,' Orman said.
Hope Ball commemorates Linton teen, Madi Moore, raises funds for families
Last year, the foundation provided 'Madi Packs' for children in the hospital. These 'packs' provided several local kids with backpacks filled with age-appropriate items to help them pass their time in the hospital.
Since Moore's passing, the foundation has also helped several local families with expenses as their young children battle illness. The foundation has even helped local families with financial expenses and granted scholarships to students at local schools.
This year, the 2025 Madi's Day of Hope event will fall on Madi's birthday, June 7, and will focus on a carnival theme in honor of Moore's love for the Linton Summer Carnival. The event will be from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Humphery's Park in Linton.
The event is seeking vendors, sponsors and volunteers to contribute to a fun, family-friendly event for the community.
To learn more about becoming a vendor or sponsor, visit www.madishopefoundation.org or follow the Fifth Annual Madi's Day of Hope Event on Facebook.

Nevada health bill advances to Gov. Lombardo's desk
LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – Health bill SB 217 advanced in the Nevada legislature last week and is now on Governor Lombardo's desk awaiting his signature. The bill includes coverage for treatments like IVF, as well as fertility preservation for those who have been diagnosed with extreme illness. 'I had arthritis for most of my life. That drug that I was on, while helpful to my arthritis, was severely damaging to my egg reserves,' shared Stephanie Capellas-Glascock, who has been struggling with her infertility journey for years. 'I knew that it wasn't going to be something that I could accomplish on my own, so therefore I needed to look into fertility treatments for myself,' she explained. If signed, Nevada could become the first state in the nation to offer fertility coverage for Medicaid. However, the bill does face pushback for its cost and certain language in it. 'One of my concerns, just looking at it, so I may reserve my right to change my vote, is just the financial impact on our public employee benefit program that can go down to increasing premiums,' said Democratic Assembly Member Shea Backus, who did vote in favor. Meanwhile, the Nevada GOP party called on the governor to veto the bill. Their website cited their opposition because it 'declares embryos prior to implantation as non-human.' 'I don't think fertility treatments are a political issue. I think it's a health and medical issue,' Capellas-Glascock responded when asked about the opposition. 'We know that the GOP has some thoughts and feelings on that too, but I think the tremendous thing about IVF is that it is a miracle in medicine and science that really affords individuals the option to have a family, so when they're ready to start a family, they have that option.' When asked about the fiscal implications, she responded, 'There's always a cost associated. I think it's knowing that the pros supremely outweigh the cons.' The state estimated the cost would be about $38 million over the next two years. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. MyChart access returning to Kettering Health patients: Update
DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — More systems are returning to normal operation as Kettering Health continues to recover from the May 20 cyberattack. According to Kettering Health officials, MyChart is once again available to patients with nearly all of its functionality. Kettering Health patients speak out on aftermath of cyberattack Patients can use MyChart to schedule and view upcoming appointments, view prescription lists, message providers and view test results. Kettering Health says patients may receive extra notifications from MyChart as they continue to restore patient data to EPIC, their electronic medical record system. 'This process— called 'backfill'— updates patient records in real time. When that happens, MyChart automatically sends text and email notifications to let you know,' said Kettering Health. Officials remind patients to remain vigilant when reviewing any digital communications, as there are still reports of several scams surfacing after the cyberattack.
