Police have issued a statement clarifying details on the 17-year-old boy from Torfaen that is the subject of a counter-terrorism investigation being dealt with by the Central Criminal Court in London.
The teenager, who is a white male from the Cwmbran area, is due to be sentence for terror-related crimes, and is being held in police custody at this time. Police are now urging anyone who is consuming information on the case via social media, to "think twice" about what they read online.
They have also urged that investigations of this nature are "exceptionally rare" in Gwent, though anyone with concerns can reach out to them by any of the usual means.

A spokesperson for Gwent Police said: Gwent Police has supported officers from Counter Terrorism Policing Wales as part of their investigations into a 17-year-old white boy from the Cwmbran area.
"He was arrested and later charged for offences under the Terrorism Act before appearing at the Central Criminal Court on Friday 4 July.
"The boy will be sentenced at a later date and officers from Counter Terrorism Policing Wales are not looking for anyone else in connection with this investigation.
T/Chief Superintendent Jason White said: "We understand that reports of this nature will be concerning for many members of our communities.
"Our partners at Counter Terrorism Police Wales have acted swiftly to make this arrest and obtain a charging decision.
"Following his appearance in court last week, there are some mistruths circulating on social media which we'd like to correct.
"The boy at the centre of this investigation is a white male and he is currently on remand in custody awaiting sentence.
"So with that in mind, we're asking everyone to consider the tone and sentiment of their language but also for people to think twice about what they might read online and look for trusted voices within our communities.
"Investigations of this nature are exceptionally rare in Gwent, but we understand the impact that reports of offences of this type can have on our residents.
"If you do have concerns, then you can call us on 101, send us a message on social media, make a report via our website or speak to one of our officers if you see them.
"We will continue to work closely with our colleagues from Counter Terrorism Policing to ensure the safety of our communities.'

Drowning investigation at Opechee Bay

State Police are investigating the death of a New Hampshire woman in Laconia. Bonita Johnston, 73, of Laconia, was found floating face down in the water in Opechee Bay, state police said. She was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. At 7:11 p.m. Monday, the New Hampshire State Police Marine Patrol was notified of a possible drowning in Opechee Bay. Witnesses reported to investigators that Johnston was last seen swimming alone in the water near the Lakeview Estates Beach at approximately 7 p.m. Minutes later, several witnesses reportedly ran over to the beach after they saw Johnston floating face down in the water. Two good Samaritans then attempted lifesaving efforts until first responders arrived. An autopsy confirmed that Johnston suffered from a medical event and then drowned, state police said. Marine Patrol was assisted at the scene by members of Laconia police and fire departments. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Marine Patrol Sgt. Probe launched after off-duty Nashville cops tangle with security outside Losers Bar

Four police officers are on administrative duty as the Metro Nashville Police Department continues to investigate a fight that broke out between them and security personnel at a Division Street bar while the officers were off duty. Homicide detectives are investigating the scuffle after one of the off-duty officers suffered a head injury, department spokesperson Don Aaron said Aug. 19. "This investigation remains active, and we are reviewing multiple angles of video," Aaron said in a statement, sent via email Aug. 19. Aaron said the officer, who is not being named, was treated in the Vanderbilt University Medical Center trauma unit on Aug. 16 and released Aug. 17 after testing. The other three officers were also not named. No charges have been filed in connection with the fight. Aaron said the department plans to meet with the district attorney's office to discuss its findings once the investigation is completed. The four off-duty officers were trying to get into Losers, at 1911 Division Street, at about 9:10 p.m. on Aug. 16 when they were turned away by security. The bar's director of operations Taylor Beasley told The Tennessean Aug. 19 it is conducting an internal investigation and declined to comment on the situation as it works with MNPD. On the night of the fight, the group of officers crossed the street and words were exchanged between one member of the group and a security guard, according to an MNPD release. The release said a verbal altercation became physical in front of Velvet Taco. During the fight, one of the officers was hit in the head and fell to the concrete unconscious, police said.
