Clemson running back target Jae Lamar announces commitment to SEC school
Clemson football came up short in the race for one of its top offensive targets.
Four-star running back Jae Lamar announced his commitment to Georgia on Wednesday, choosing the Bulldogs over a final group that also included Clemson, Miami, Florida State, and Auburn. Lamar had been a top priority for the Tigers ever since he picked up an offer during an unofficial visit in March. He later became the only running back to attend Clemson's major official visit weekend in early June.
The Colquitt County (Ga.) standout is ranked No. 107 overall in the 247Sports Composite and sits at No. 8 among running backs in the 2025 class. As a junior, he rushed for 885 yards and 11 touchdowns on just 112 carries, averaging nearly eight yards per attempt.
Losing Lamar is undoubtedly a miss for Clemson, especially considering how much attention the staff invested in his recruitment. He was seen as a key piece of the Tigers' 2025 offensive class, and now they'll need to re-evaluate their options at the position.
That said, Clemson might already be in a position to feel confident about the future of its backfield.

Miami Dealt With Concerning Update on 4-Star Targeted by Big Ten Power
Miami Dealt With Concerning Update on 4-Star Targeted by Big Ten Power originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Miami Hurricanes are racking up major recruiting wins for 2026. Especially landing five-star offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell and on Saturday, former Rutgers linebacker commit Justin Edwards. Advertisement But the 'Canes dealt with a concerning update involving one of their high-profile four-star targets remaining out there. Big Ten power USC looks in position to attempt to steer Breck Kolojay over to the Land of Troy. The IMG Academy star interior offensive lineman was favored to land in Coral Gables by multiple recruiting outlets. Even On3 handed Miami a huge lead. But USC insider for On3 Scott Schrader helped drop this new update Saturday. Miami Hurricanes QB Cam Ward drops back to Navarro-Imagn Images "As of today, this appears to be a USC vs. Miami battle and Kolojay is not in a hurry to make a decision," Schrader said. "That's not to say he won't choose a school in the near future, but his decision on a school could come in December." Advertisement Kolojay was also on the USC campus June 17, Schrader added. This update is still concerning for "The U." Kolojay is being courted by the nation's top-ranked recruiting class in USC. The Trojans already claimed one massive four-star win on Friday -- landing No. 1 New Jersey prospect and edge rusher Luke Wafle. But there's other advantages USC brings in courting Kolojay. USC's '26 class is headlined by his IMG Academy teammate and five-star tackle Keenyi Pope. The 6-foot-5, 320-pound Kolojay also has ties to five-star tight end commit at USC Mark Bowman. "They both played youth football together in Colorado with USC commit Kannon Smith. We're told Bowman was the quarterback," Schrader said. He added he roamed the campus with the prized towering weapon Bowman while on his visit. Advertisement Kolojay has two prominent connections at USC who can help persuade him to chose the Land of Troy. Miami can help sell a potential powerhouse duo between he and the tackle Cantwell. The Hurricanes are also led by a former offensive lineman in Mario Cristobal -- which can help win over the versatile OL. But USC remains very much alive in trying to nab Kolojay -- which will hinder Cristobal and the Hurricanes' plans to keep building the trenches. Miami rose to No. 8 in the national recruiting rankings. But holds only one true IOL commit in three-star JJ Sparks. USC Gaining Steam for Talented 4-Star Florida Prospect
USC Gaining Steam for Talented 4-Star Florida Prospect originally appeared on Athlon Sports. USC doesn't appear to be letting the foot on the gas pedal recruiting wise. The Trojans hosted a talented four-star from Florida -- who's currently heavily targeted by one top 10 recruiting class. Advertisement Interior offensive lineman Breck Kolojay roamed around the USC campus and took his visit out west during the weekend of June 21. The IMG Academy star created concern for one Atlantic Coast Conference powerhouse. Kolojay is a longtime Miami target, with the Hurricanes listed as a heavy favorite to land him. Kolojay, however, sparked new intrigue for USC fans. He posted pictures of his official visit on his X (formerly Twitter) account -- signifying that the Trojans are indeed gaining momentum for him. Makai Lemon of USC catching against Notre Dame in 2024. Kirby Lee, USA TODAY Sports "Huge thanks to the whole USC staff for having me and my fam for an OV this past week," Kolojay said on his X account Monday. Advertisement Head coach Lincoln Riley isn't the only one courting Kolojay. Offensive line coach Zach Hanson is running point on his recruitment. The 6-foot-5, 320-pounder surfaced as a rising USC target during his visit weekend. Trojans insider for On3 Scott Schrader dropped this update on Sunday. "As of today, this appears to be a USC vs. Miami battle and Kolojay is not in a hurry to make a decision," Schrader wrote. "That's not to say he won't choose a school in the near future, but his decision on a school could come in December." Kolojay would choose the nation's current No. 8 class if Miami becomes his pick. He'd become a major in-state win for Mario Cristobal and his coaching staff if he selects "The U." The 'Canes hold 10 verbal commits from Florida. Advertisement However, USC has Kolojay's IMG Academy teammate Keenyi Pope. Kolojay also has state of Colorado ties with five-star tight end commit Mark Bowman -- as the two played the game together in their younger years. USC sits at 30 total verbal commits and appears to have a few spots left to fill the 2026 class.
