Confetti and caps fly as Class of 2025 soars into future
You can practically hear "Pomp and Circumstance" and feel the confetti raining down on the crowd as you flip the tassel on a decorated mortarboard.
This joyful Photo of the Week by FLORIDA TODAY's TIm Shortt, of Titusville Terriers celebrating the "big walk," seems to express the overall spirit shared throughout Brevard County as more than 5,000 students graduated from more than two dozen high schools in May. FLORIDA TODAY was there for many of those celebrations, and also captured the action as diplomas were conferred at Eastern Florida State College and Florida Tech.
Between veteran photographer Craig Bailey and Shortt, and with an assist from reporters Tyler Vazquez, J.D. Gallop, Finch Walker and Amber Oleson, a treasure trove of memorable moments was captured.
"Anyone who has attended as many gradations as I have through the decades knows how many extraordinary young people we have here in Brevard," said Shortt.
"We too often hear about the bad apples, but I can attest that the vast majority are bright, determined and are going to do just fine."
This year, Shortt shot graduations at at least nine schools, including Eastern Florida State College, where he majored in photography back when it was Brevard Community College.
This image was his overall favorite — and as a bonus, his niece, Maddie Jones, was among the grads there.
"I graduated Astronaut in '78, and while a proud War Eagle from across town, I gotta give credit to our rivals over the years for a fantastic ceremony," he said.
"On this night, I was full-on Go Terriers!'

One Panthers regular out for Game 1 of Stanley Cup Final. How the lineup should look
The Florida Panthers will be without one of their regulars for Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final against the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday. Forward A.J. Greer is out as he continues to deal with an undisclosed injury. Jesper Boqvist will take his place in the lineup as the left wing on Florida's fourth line with Tomas Nosek at center and Jonah Gadjovich on the right wing. Greer had been banged up for most of the Panthers' Eastern Conference final series against the Carolina Hurricanes, which Florida won in five games. He missed the final 4:02 of Game 3 after appearing to tighten something up late in that game, a 6-2 Florida win. He did not play at all in Game 4 and then exited the Panthers' 5-3 series-clinching win in Game 5 early in the third period, not taking the ice for the final 18:35 of the contest. Through 12 postseason games, Greer has three points (two goals, one assist) in addition to logging 45 hits while averaging just 7:47 of ice time. This is the third time in the past nine playoff games that Boqvist will draw into the lineup for an injured teammate. He did so in Games 5 and 6 of the second round against the Toronto Maple Leafs when Evan Rodrigues was sidelined and again in Games 3 and 4 of the Eastern Conference final for Sam Reinhart. In those four games, Boqvist produced five points (two goals, three assists). But the Panthers are no strangers to mixing and matching with their lineup, especially with their fourth line. 'Just good hockey players, guys who can step in and step up when we need them to,' Rodrigues said. 'High hockey IQ guys too that can play all over the lineup that can do multiple roles. They've done a great job so far.' Florida's lineup should look as follows for Game 1 on Wednesday... Forward lines Evan Rodrigues-Aleksander Barkov-Sam Reinhart Carter Verhaeghe-Sam Bennett-Matthew Tkachuk Eetu Luostarinen-Anton Lundell-Brad Marchand Jesper Boqvist-Tomas Nosek-Jonah Gadjovich Defense pairs Gustav Forsling-Aaron Ekblad Niko Mikkola-Seth Jones Nate Schmidt-Dmitry Kulikov Goaltenders Sergei Bobrovsky Vitek Vanecek

AT&T just launched a new plan that may be perfect for your parents
AT&T is introducing a new affordable wireless plan to its list of offerings. This particular plan may be just what you're looking for if you're 55 or older. In a new blog post , AT&T announced the launch of a wireless plan called AT&T 55 Plus. For the price of $40 per month, customers who are 55 or older and are on this plan will get unlimited talk, text, and data in and between the US, Canada, and Mexico. This price drops down to $35 per month each if you add a second line. Additionally, you'll have access to 10GB of hotspot data and the carrier's cybersecurity suite (ActiveArmor) to stop spam and scams. This plan is also backed by the company's guarantee, which will give you a bill credit if you experience a 60-minute or longer wireless outage. On top of this offer, the company will also soon let you bundle your home internet into the deal. Jenifer Robertson, executive VP and GM of AT&T Mass Markets, states: This summer, new and existing AT&T wireless customers 55 and over will have the opportunity to bundle two wireless lines with our lightning-fast AT&T Fiber or our flexible AT&T Internet Air—all for under $100 According to the blog, bundling two lines with Internet 300 or Internet Air will cost you $99 per month. However, that's without taxes and fees included. Regardless, it sounds like a pretty decent deal that you or your parents may want to consider.
