Kolkata-Bound Air India Express Plane Faces Tech Snag, Returns To Bengaluru
A Kolkata-bound Air India Express plane returned to Bengaluru due to a technical issue on Sunday evening.
The flight IX2718, operated with an Airbus A320 aircraft, returned after being airborne for over two hours, according to information available on flight tracking website Flightradar24.com.
"One of our flights from Bengaluru returned to the airport following a technical issue. The aircraft circled to reduce fuel and weight before executing a safe, precautionary landing," an Air India Express spokesperson said in a statement on Monday.
An alternate aircraft was arranged to ferry the passengers to Kolkata.
The airline is investigating the technical snag in the aircraft.
Details about the number of passengers onboard the flight were not disclosed.

Sarika Funde, the head of the PMC's veterinary department, told TOI, "We have set up 3-4 designated spots outside the airport for feeding these dogs after talks with local dog feeders. If dogs have been seen again on the airport premises, it seems they are being fed inside the facility. We will be checking the present situation and act accordingly." The official said, "Not just the dog feeders, flyers also tend to feed dogs behind the old canteen on the old terminal premises. We will have to check how the dogs have come back." Bhubaneswar-bound Air India Express plane suffers bird hit at Pune airport, passengers accommodated on another flight
An Air India Express flight from Pune to Bhubaneswar suffered a bird hit at the Pune International Airport Wednesday, and the pilots aborted take-off. Santosh Dhoke, Director, Pune airport, confirmed the incident to The Indian Express. An Air India Express spokesperson said, 'One of our aircraft had a suspected bird strike before take-off from Pune. As a precaution, we accommodated guests in an alternative aircraft, arranged on priority. We regret the inconvenience.' Increased incidents of bird hits around the Pune airport have raised concerns about risks to flights. On June 20, a bird hit was detected on a Delhi-Pune flight after it landed. In June, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC)'s Solid Waste Management Department appointed officers and special teams for round-the-clock garbage management around the city airport. Dhoke wrote to the Pune Municipal commissioner on June 18 about garbage dumping by unidentified people along the eastern and western perimeter walls of the airport. He also mentioned potentially unauthorised shops, godowns, garages, and scrap yards around the airport, contributing to garbage and other dangers. Dhoke told The Indian Express Thursday, 'The cleaning operations that PMC had begun in the previous month are going on continuously. PMC is picking up garbage from all four sides. A passenger, Akhill Gupta, who was on the flight, posted about the delay on X. 'Boarded 1st flight at 12:30 hrs n landed now in Pune at 20:00 hrs. 2 hrs journey prolonged to 7:30 hrs.
