Garrett Nussmeier Has Hilarious One-Word Reaction to LSU's Social Media Post originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The LSU Tigers are enjoying the hype for their 2025 college football season. Frequently ranked as a top 10 preseason team, the SEC powerhouse is returning some key starters to the field, particularly on defense, like linebackers Harold Perkins and Whit Weeks, defensive tackle Bernard Gooden, cornerbacks PJ Woodland and Javien Toviano, and safeties Jardin Gilbert and Dashawn Spears.

However, it could be argued that the Tigers' most critical returning starter is 23-year-old quarterback Garrett Nussmeier. The former four-star recruit is now a redshirt senior and will lead head coach Brian Kelly's offense.
LSU's social media team shared a throwback post of Nussmeier, who was looking fresh-faced in his No. 13 jersey. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound signal-caller, likely feeling a slight cringe of nostalgia upon seeing his old photo, shared a one-word response to the post.
"Bro 😂😂😂," Nussmeier wrote.
Last season, Nussmeier passed for 4,052 yards, 29 touchdowns and 12 interceptions while leading LSU to a 9-4 record.

The Tigers stumbled out of the gates with a 27-20 loss to USC but followed that up with six straight wins. Unfortunately, that winning streak was interrupted by three straight losses, which left LSU out of the College Football Playoff conversation.

The 2025 season brings a new set of challenges, including lofty CFP expectations.
In Bill Connelly's SP+ post-spring rankings on ESPN, he ranked the Tigers at No. 9. His SP+ rankings use returning production, recent recruiting and recent history to project what could happen next season.
The Tigers haven't won their opening game in each of the last five seasons, so a hot start would go a long way to set the right tone this year.

Livvy Dunne Turns Heads at LSU's College World Series Game in Omaha

Livvy Dunne was the talk of the town on Saturday when LSU took on Alabama at the Men's College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska. The 22-year-old former gymnast showed up and showed out wearing a Paul Skenes jersey that was half LSU (on the front) and half Pittsburgh Pirates (on the back). The jersey, of course, pays homage to her beau, Skenes. Advertisement Dunne drew a ton of attention upon arrival at Charles Schwab Field, from when she walked the bowels of the stadium to when she finally reached her seat. Once there, fans snapped photos and some even flocked to her. At one point, in images shared on social media, Dunne could also be seen FaceTiming the MLB star. In an interview, Dunne said she had to come back to Omaha to support her Tigers, who won the national championship there in 2023. The reporter also asked her where she copped the custom jersey, and Dunne said someone sent it to her! She said she couldn't recall who at the moment, but chances are requests for the unique jersey will soon fly through the roof. Rory McIlroy Faces Backlash After Controversial Decision Following Poor U.S. Open Start

Rory McIlroy Faces Backlash After Controversial Decision Following Poor U.S. Open Start originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Rory McIlroy was off to a hot start on Thursday morning in the opening round of the U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club, going out in two-under par through his opening nine holes. Advertisement This was impressive to see, considering there were many doubters of McIlroy's game coming into this tournament, despite his completion of the Career Grand Slam with his win at the Masters Tournament earlier this spring. Many of the doubts stemmed from last week at the RBC Canadian Open, where McIlroy missed the cut after shooting nine over in the first two rounds. So when Rory turned to the back nine on Thursday and fell apart, shooting six-over par to close with a four-over 74, not many were surprised. Unfortunately, not many were surprised by Rory's actions after the round, either, where he chose to skip his media availability, both in the press room and with the pool reporter, following the disappointing finish. Rory McIlroy walks off the 15th green during the final round of the PGA Championship golf tournament at Quail Hollow. Jim Dedmon-Imagn Images PGA Tour players are not obligated to speak to media members at any point, but it is expected of players at the top of the game, especially someone with as much gravitas as McIlroy, who has been one of the biggest spokespersons of the PGA Tour over the last few years. Advertisement Some golf fans were frustrated by this decision. McIlroy's week is far from over, and with a solid round on Friday he can get right back into the mix. We saw during the first nine holes of his tournament that his solid form is somewhere in there, but it retreated after he made the turn and starting coming into the clubhouse. Friday offers another opportunity to get things back on the right track. Rory McIlroy Admits He Didn't Care About Making Cut at U.S. Open

Rory McIlroy Admits He Didn't Care About Making Cut at U.S. Open originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Going into the 2025 U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club, Masters Champion Rory McIlroy was considered among the favorites to win his second major championship of the year. Advertisement After watching him play his first and second rounds, though, it became quickly clear that McIlroy was never going to be in contention to win thanks to his laissezfaire attitude on the course. McIlroy ended up making the cut by a slim margin on Friday afternoon and qualifying for the weekend, but when speaking to the media after his third round on Saturday, it appears that he may not have been too happy about that result. Rory McIlroy at Quail HollowAaron Doster-Imagn Images 'It's much easier being on the cut line when you don't really care if you're here for the weekend or not," McIlroy said on Saturday, according to ESPN's Paolo Uggetti. "I was sort of thinking 'Do I really want two more days here or not?'' Advertisement After an opening four-over 74 was followed by a two-over 72 on Friday, McIlroy fired another four-over 74 on Saturday to sit at 10-over for the week, which is currently in a tie for 53rd place. After is first two rounds of the tournament, McIlroy drew some backlash from the golf community after deciding not to talk to the media post-round. While he is not obligated to give an interview, as one of the faces of the game and the biggest voice in the sport, it is expected that he make himself available at least one of the days, no matter how poorly he played. We will see how McIlroy comes out on Sunday in his final round, and whether or not he is able to find some inspiration and finish strong for the weekend. But based on his words and actions so far, it doesn't appear that he has much of a care when it comes to this tournament result.
