flydubai has broken ground on its new Aircraft Maintenance Centre at Dubai South. The multimillion dollar facility, set to complete construction in the last quarter of 2026, will ensure an increased level of control and quicker maintenance turnaround for the carrier's growing fleet.
Spread over 32,600 square metres, the maintenance centre will house an aircraft hangar, support workshops and office buildings. The construction of the Aircraft Maintenance Centre underscores flydubai's dedication to strengthening its inhouse capabilities and reflects the carrier's growing maturity as it expands its fleet and network.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by a senior delegation led by Khalifa Al Zaffin, Executive Chairman of Dubai Aviation City Corporation and Dubai South, who joined Ghaith Al Ghaith, Chief Executive Officer of flydubai, as well as representatives from the Mohammed bin Rashid Aerospace Hub (MBRAH).
Al Zaffin said, 'This facility reinforces our commitment to supporting the aviation sector through state-of-the-art infrastructure and to further positioning Dubai as a leading global hub for aviation.'
Al Ghaith stated, 'This is a strategic step towards supporting our growing maintenance requirement and capacity as we take delivery of more aircraft, and reaffirms our long-term commitment to innovation, operational efficiency and supporting Dubai's position as a global leader in aviation and business excellence.'
The carrier signed an agreement with MBRAH for its first purpose-built Aircraft Maintenance Centre at the 2023 Dubai Airshow.
Located in Dubai South, the district offers an aviation and logistics ecosystem that makes it an ideal location for the carrier's facility. The maintenance centre will be situated near Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC), set to become the world's largest airport upon completion.
The new maintenance centre will be home to the carrier's expanding team of more than 600 skilled engineers working in Line Maintenance, Technical Services, Materials and Workshops, tasked with guaranteeing the safety and airworthiness of flydubai's fleet.

Autoworld to set up Bajaj motorcycles distribution hub in Dubai

Autoworld International FZCO, a leading regional distributor for India's Bajaj Auto Limited, has announced plans to develop a new logistics and distribution hub in the Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza). The facility will enhance Autoworld's ability to serve rapidly growing markets across Africa and the Middle East with affordable, fuel-efficient two- and three-wheelers. Spanning over 162,000 sq ft, the facility will include an assembly plant for Bajaj motorcycles and three-wheelers, as well as storage and distribution space for spare parts, tyres, and lubricants, said the statement from Autoworld. Scheduled for completion by 2026, the hub will also support the introduction of new product lines through partnerships with international manufacturers, strengthening the company's presence. The Autoworld move comes at a time when global two- and three-wheeler market is expanding quickly, particularly in emerging economies where urbanisation, e-commerce, and last-mile delivery needs are reshaping mobility needs. Industry analysts project Africa's two-wheeler market alone will grow at nearly 5% annually, driven by demand for affordable and fuel-efficient vehicles. The agreement was officially signed in the presence of Abdullah Bin Damithan, CEO and Managing Director of DP World GCC; Abdulla Al Hashmi, Chief Operating Officer, Parks & Zones at DP World GCC; Kumar Motiram Lakhani, Chairman of Autoworld; Monish Lakhani, Managing Director at Autoworld and Vishal Lakhani, Director at Autoworld. "This facility marks a major step forward in our growth strategy. Jafza's connectivity, infrastructure, and business-friendly environment have helped us serve high-growth markets across Africa and the GCC since 2008," remarked Vishal Lakhani. "With this investment, we are living up to our commitment to the region and to the Bajaj brand," he stated. On the key partnership, Al Hashmi said: "Autoworld's expansion underscores the strength of Jafza's integrated trade and logistics ecosystem which now connects 940 automotive companies from 88 countries." "Last year alone, Jafza supported automotive trade valued at nearly AED102 billion ($28 million). We are proud to support long-term partners like Autoworld, who are helping connect world-class manufacturing with high-potential markets through Dubai," he stated. The project is expected to create over 100 direct and indirect jobs, supporting Dubai's growing mobility and logistics ecosystem. It also strengthens the UAE's role as a central trade hub connecting manufacturers with global markets. Autoworld has operated from Jafza for over 16 years, leveraging its world-class multimodal infrastructure to distribute Bajaj vehicles across 25+ countries. -TradeArabia News Service Copyright 2024 Al Hilal Publishing and Marketing Group Provided by SyndiGate Media Inc. STAMN launches prime residential development on Dubai Islands

STAMN Real Estate Development has announced the launch of Nautis Residences, a new prime residential project on Dubai Islands. The mid-rise development features 63 residences, from one-bed luxury apartments through to exclusive four-bed townhouses. Designed by Horizon, Nautis takes inspiration from the waves of the surrounding Arabian Gulf, and will have a range of amenities, including an elegant infinity pool and sundeck, trendy gym, yoga studio, cosy reading garden, and social barbecue facilities. Speaking at the launch, CEO Zheng Jian said: "We're privileged to launch Nautis Residences on the incredible Dubai Islands, which we believe is a master development that will rival the Palm Jumeirah for popularity in the coming years. Nautis is elegantly designed and we anticipate strong demand for this limited collection of residences." Dubai Islands is a master development designed by Nakheel, the creators of the Palm Jumeirah, which connects five islands with more than 60 km of waterfront and 20 km of beaches. It is being positioned in the same bracket as the UAE's other iconic island real estate projects, underlining strong future potential. "Overall, Dubai Islands represents robust value for money in terms of price per square foot, especially given its proximity to Dubai Downtown, tourist attractions and international airports," remarked Jian. "With world-class dining destinations, yacht marinas and championship golf courses on the doorstep, investors are quickly realising the potential for capital appreciation," he added. Nautis will have a ground floor lobby, two parking levels and eight residential floors. It will be located on a prime plot near to the upcoming Dubai Islands Mall on the closest island to Dubai mainland (Island A) and served by interconnecting bridges. In close proximity, there will be a range of community spaces including retail, leisure, dining, entertainment, hotels and resorts, marinas, education (schools) and healthcare (hospital) facilities, said Jian. "There will also be a separate children's play zone and kids pool to appeal to family buyers," he stated. STAMN, he said, was rapidly becoming an influential developer in Dubai, with more than AED250 million ($70 million) invested, three projects under development and a fourth to be announced later in 2025. Nautis Residences will range from AED1.74 million to more than AED6.6 million, representing an average price per sq ft of AED2,300. Comparably, off-plan projects on Palm Jumeirah are valued at an average AED5,809 per sq ft, demonstrating clear room for an uplift in valuations as Dubai Islands becomes more established. By Q4 2027, when Nautis residents will be able to move in, many of the biggest projects and destinations on Dubai Islands will also be completed. Sales are now live, with prospective investors also able to benefit from a 40/60 handover payment plan, he added. -TradeArabia News Service Copyright 2024 Al Hilal Publishing and Marketing Group Provided by SyndiGate Media Inc.
