The Black Sabbath singer's family released a statement, confirming the passing of the godfather of heavy metal, saying, "It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning.
He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family's privacy at this time."
This news comes just weeks after Osbourne performed with Black Sabbath in his hometown of Birmingham, England, where he reunited with bandmates such as bassist Geezer Butler, drummer Bill Ward, and guitarist Tony Iommi for the first time in 20 years. The event was a concert titled 'Back to the Beginning', marking Black Sabbath's first performance in twenty years.
It was announced as Osbourne's 'final bow', according to Black Sabbath's official website.
Ozzy, who performed sitting in a throne-like chair with a bat on top, revealed in 2020 that he has Parkinson's Disease. Expressing his gratitude to the fans, the Prince of Darkness said, 'Your support over the years has made it all possible for us to live the lifestyle we live. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I love you. We love you.'

While proceeds from Ozzy's final concert, £140 million, were donated to Cure Parkinson's, Birmingham Children's Hospital, and Acorns Children's Hospice, sales from this and ongoing posthumous releases, such as the concert film Back to the Beginning: Ozzy's Final Bow, deluxe editions, and unreleased tracks, are set to generate future royalty income for Sharon and their children.
