Basaveshwara's Ideals a Beacon for Social Equality: Collector BM Santosh
Gadwal: District Collector B.M. Santosh paid rich tributes to the great social reformer and progressive thinker Mahatma Basaveshwara, describing him as a visionary who raised his voice against caste, class, and gender discrimination and worked for an egalitarian society.
Speaking on Wednesday during the Basaveshwara Jayanti celebrations held in the premises of the IDOC (Integrated District Offices Complex), the Collector emphasized Basaveshwara's revolutionary contribution to social change. The event was organized by the BC Welfare Department. The Collector began the program by garlanding Basaveshwara's portrait and lighting a ceremonial lamp in his honor.
In his address, Collector Santosh highlighted that Basaveshwara had envisioned a society free of caste and gender inequalities and had actively propagated the idea of equality and justice. He noted that Basaveshwara was a pioneer who laid the foundation for significant reforms in the social structure by promoting values of dignity, integrity, and truth.
He added that Basaveshwara's advocacy for women's empowerment and respect for labor continues to serve as an inspiration. The principles upheld by Basaveshwara are highly relevant today, especially for the younger generation, he remarked, urging everyone to emulate his ideals to bring about positive change in society.
Additional Collector Lakshmi Narayana, RDO Srinivasa Rao, BC Welfare Officer Ramesh Babu, Agricultural Officer Narender, officials, association members, and Collectorate staff also took part in the event and paid their respects to the great reformer.

"Assistive Devices Worth ₹21.27 Lakhs Distributed to 93 Differently-Abled Persons in Gadwal".
Gadwal: District Collector B.M. Santhosh emphasized that differently-abled individuals should fully utilize the welfare schemes provided by the Central and State Governments. He stated that inclusive development and empowerment of every individual with disabilities is a key priority of the government. On Friday, a distribution event was held at the IDOC meeting hall under the aegis of the Department of Women, Child, Senior Citizens, and Differently-Abled Welfare, in collaboration with the Central Government. As part of the initiative, 114 high-tech assistive devices worth ₹21.27 lakhs were distributed to 93 eligible beneficiaries from the district through the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO). The devices were handed over by Gadwal MLA Bandla Krishna Mohan Reddy and District Collector Santhosh. Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said that the government is always ready to listen to and address the issues faced by differently-abled citizens. He recalled that a special camp was held on September 28 in Gattu mandal, where eligible beneficiaries were identified, and the required assistive aids were prepared and now provided. The initiative was carried out with the support of ALIMCO, a Government of India enterprise. He also highlighted various ongoing welfare programs for persons with disabilities (PwDs), such as: ₹4,000 monthly pension 4% reservation in government jobs Financial subsidies UDID cards for nationwide access to facilities He urged all differently-abled individuals to avail themselves of these schemes confidently and move forward with self-reliance. The distributed equipment included: 28 standard tricycles 35 battery-operated tricycles 7 wheelchairs 8 walking sticks 4 crutches 16 BTE (Behind-The-Ear) digital hearing aids with zinc-air batteries 12 TLM kits 2 accessible canes (Sugamya Canes) 2 smartphones equipped with screen readers MLA Bandla Krishna Mohan Reddy, speaking at the event, reiterated the commitment of both the Central and State Governments to the welfare of the differently-abled. He acknowledged ALIMCO's role in supplying the much-needed equipment and assured continued efforts to provide more opportunities and support in the future. The program was attended by Additional Collectors Lakshmi Narayana and Narsinga Rao, District Welfare Officer Sunanda, ALIMCO representative Sunita Das, and several beneficiaries along with their families. Collector Santosh Directs Officials to Intensify ‘Badi Bata' Campaign to Boost School Enrollment and Prevent Dropout
Gadwal: District Collector B.M. Santosh has directed officials to implement the Badi Bata (School Enrollment Drive) program in a well-planned manner, not only to increase student enrollment in government schools but also to prevent dropouts. On Friday, a meeting was held at the IDOC Conference Hall with education department officials to review the Badi Bata program and the distribution of school uniforms. Speaking on the occasion, the District Collector emphasized the need to increase student enrollment in schools. He instructed that all students from classes 1 to 9 enrolled last academic year must be enrolled in classes 2 to 10 this year without fail. A clear list should be prepared showing which schools the children in Anganwadi centers will join, and welfare officers should ensure each child is enrolled accordingly. He stressed the identification of out-of-school children and the need to guide and enroll them in schools without exception. Daily action plans under the Badi Bata program should be submitted as reports. He also directed officials to visit every household, identify students studying in Anganwadi, government, and private schools, and update the village education register. The Collector instructed all officials to prevent child marriages and ensure that every child continues their education. He asked for awareness meetings to be conducted at the mandal level about school admissions. He also called for maintaining cleanliness and proper sanitation in schools. Parents should be made fully aware of the various benefits offered by the government to students studying in government schools, including free textbooks, notebooks, uniforms, digital education, scholarships, and other incentives. He further suggested promoting the academic success of Class 10 students in government schools to encourage enrollments. He instructed that high-quality school uniforms must be distributed to students by June 12, prior to the reopening of schools. APMs must ensure that the uniforms are submitted to Mandal Education Officers by June 11 without fail. Any school facing issues should submit detailed reports so immediate solutions can be provided. He also insisted that data on the number of students and the distribution of uniforms in each school must be available to avoid any complaints of students being left out. Additional Collector Lakshmi Narayana, Narsinga Rao, DEO Abdul Ghani, DPO Nagendram, Welfare Officer Sunanda, ED SC Corporation Ramesh Babu, Mandal Education Officers, APMs, and others attended the meeting.

Bhu Bharati Initiative Gains Momentum: Collector Santosh Leads Village-Level Drive to Resolve Land Disputes
Gadwal: The District Collector B.M. Santosh has emphasized that the Bhoomi Bharati program is playing a crucial role in addressing land-related disputes at the village level. He made these remarks while participating in a Revenue Grievance Redressal Camp organized at the Village Panchayat Office of Anantapuram in Gadwal Mandal on Tuesday. During his visit, the Collector reviewed the process of application acceptance, issuance of receipts by registrars, and the types of land issues being reported by applicants. He also personally interacted with the farmers, enquired about their land problems, and provided valuable suggestions on possible solutions. He issued clear directions to the officials, stressing the need to resolve land grievances promptly. The Collector stated that under the Bhu Bharati program, revenue officials are reaching out directly to villages to address and settle land disputes on-site. He informed that this program will be actively conducted across the district from June 3 to June 20, 2025. Collector Santosh advised farmers facing land-related problems to fill out the prescribed forms and submit them to the concerned authorities. He assured that revenue officials will be available from 9:00 AM until all applications are received each day, ensuring accessibility and support to every applicant. He instructed officials to act responsibly at every stage of the process, from form collection to online entry of application data, to ensure transparency and efficiency. He urged the public to fully utilize the opportunities presented by the Bhoomi Bharati camps being held in their villages. Several key officials were present during the event, including Additional Collector Lakshmi Narayana, RDO Alivelu, Gadwal Tahsildar Mallikarjun, revenue department staff, farmers, and other local stakeholders. This initiative marks a significant step by the district administration in decentralizing land administration and delivering timely solutions to the common man's land issues right at their doorstep.
