Brent Lewis Evans II
Brent was known for his sharp, dry sense of humor — a trait proudly inherited from his dad's side of the family. He had a special fondness for Calvin and Hobbes, even gifting his father the complete collection.
He also enjoyed the wit of The Far Side comic strip's offbeat humor, bizarre situations and unconventional take on everyday life.
He found peace and joy in cooking, especially meals rich with hearty gravies, which he loved to share with friends and family. For Brent, cooking was more than a skill — it was a way to relax, connect, and show love.
Brent had a deep and loyal bond with his dogs, Lulu and Izzy, who were his constant companions and cherished friends.
Above all, Brent had a generous heart. He never hesitated to help anyone in need, always offering his time, strength, or support without expecting anything in return.
At the age of 13, Brent faced a life-threatening medical condition that affected his left leg and required multiple surgeries and long hospital stays. Though the experience left its mark, it never defined him or slowed his spirit.
A proud graduate of Sam Houston High School, Class of 1998, Brent worked a variety of jobs over the years — welder, bartender, truck driver, and security guard. He had a passion for hands-on work, especially building and fabricating projects around the house.
He loved spending time with friends, his dogs, and at the beach. Brent also had a deep interest in history, especially military history, and he had an incredible memory for details that most people would forget.
Brent is survived by his mother, Margaret Rabert Evans; his father, Brent Lewis Evans; his stepmother, Thresea Evans; his sister, Kimberly Shelton; his uncles, Russell Evans and Bruce Evans; his stepsiblings, Blake Thibodeaux and Brandi Mathews; as well as multiple cousins niece and nephews; and his fiancée, Sarahbeth Schexneider.
A graveside service will be held at Magnolia Cemetery of Westlake Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at 2 p.m.

Mastodon's ex-guitarist blasts former bandmates. ‘They sound absolutely horrible.'
Months have gone by since they parted ways, but tensions haven't thawed between former guitarist/vocalist Brent Hinds and his former Mastodon bandmates. Not even in the slightest (in Hinds's case). In March, the metal band made an unexpected announcement that they would be parting ways with Hinds after 25 years. Details as to what led up to the split have been scarce, but guitarist Bill Kelliher gave a brief statement to Guitar World as to what happened from his perspective. 'Like a marriage, sometimes people grow apart, and they get interested in other things,' Kelliher stated. 'We wish nothing but the best for Brent in chasing his dreams.' Since then, Mastodon has been playing with guitarist Nick Johnston. As time has gone on, Hinds's anger towards his former bandmates has seemed to be growing. A comment Hinds left on the Mastodon subreddit has grabbed a lot of the fandom's attention. The guitarist responded in a long comment in response to a 2012 live video of his performance of a guitar solo for the song 'Crack The Skye. ' Not sure if this was posted yet, but saw this on a post Brent was tagged in. by u/Lippersickendog1 in mastodonband 'My Guitar sounds great, but Troy [Sanders] and prawn [a name for drummer [Brann Dailor] sound absolutely horrible,' Hinds wrote. '..they are way out of key ..embarrassing and they kicked me out of the band for embarrassing them for being who I am ..but what about who they are ?' He went on to write, 'I've never seen anyone in my life look in the mirror more than Troy Sanders. He thinks he's God's gift to anything. I've never met three people that were so full of themselves. It's disgusting.' These sentiments echo what Hinds said on Instagram in June, when he stated, 'I [won't] miss being in a s--- band with horrible humans.'
