Rs40b Kohistan scandal: investigators 'complicit'
Addressing an emergency press conference at the provincial assembly, Dr Ibadullah stated, "In this province, not even a peon can be transferred without money changing hands. Yet the Chief Executive claims ignorance of a scandal worth billions." He further alleged that the very individuals tasked with investigating the scandal are themselves complicit in the corruption.
Ibadullah was accompanied by MPA Sajjadullah of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI), who also represents Kohistan. The opposition leader drew comparisons with the 2014 Panama Papers controversy, noting, "At that time, PTI leaders raised a storm over Rs3 billion. Now, under their own government, Rs40 billion has vanished in just six years."
He questioned the potential use of the embezzled funds, suggesting, "Was this money used to fund the Islamabad march, the May 9 agitation, or opposition to the Army Chief's appointment?"
He directly accused the province's Chief Executive of involvement in the scandal, criticizing his silence on the issue. "Those in PTI who once couldn't afford a rickshaw now own commercial plots worth billions in Islamabad," he claimed.
He praised the Speaker of the Assembly for referring the Kohistan scandal to the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) for investigation, but called it an example of institutional failure.
He pointed to the involvement of the Communication and Works (C&W) Department, the Accountant General's office, and the Finance Department.

FPCCI achievement awards ceremony: ‘Marka-e-Economy' launched

The 12th FPCCI Achievement Awards Ceremony was hosted by FPCCI at Governor House, attended by hundreds of representatives from the business sector, along with senior MQM-P leaders Dr. Farooq Sattar, Anees Qaimkhani, and other dignitaries. Achievement Awards were presented to exporters, industrialists, entrepreneurs, women entrepreneurs, and social figures for their outstanding services. A posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award was conferred on Sheikh Muhammad Ikram for his lifelong contributions to business and social welfare. Speaking on the occasion, S.M. Tanveer said Governor Kamran Khan Tessori had won the hearts of people through his unmatched initiatives. KP CM visits worst flood-hit Pir Baba, Bashonai
PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Khan Gandapur visited the worst flood-affected areas of Pir Baba and Bashonai in district Buner to assess damages and review ongoing relief efforts. He was accompanied by provincial cabinet members, MNA Barrister Gohar, Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah, and other senior officials. During the visit, the Chief Minister met with affected families, condoled with the relatives of those who lost their lives in the floods, and offered prayers for the deceased. Expressing deep grief, he said the loss of precious human lives was an irreparable tragedy, and assured that the provincial government stood shoulder to shoulder with the victims in this difficult hour. 'Human lives cannot be replaced, but the government will not leave the victims alone,' Gandapur said, pledging maximum assistance. He assured that all financial losses would be fully compensated and that government infrastructure damaged by the floods would be restored without delay. The Chief Minister added that while rescue and relief operations were underway, a comprehensive damage assessment would soon be completed to ensure timely rehabilitation and disbursement of compensation. He reaffirmed that every affected individual would receive 100 percent compensation and that no one would be left out. Earlier, the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also visited flood-hit Swat on the second day of his tour to affected districts. At the Commissioner Malakand Division's office, he chaired a meeting on the situation arising from the recent floods. Provincial cabinet members Arshad Ayub Khan, Fazal Hakim Khan, Dr. Amjad Ali, elected representatives from Swat, Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah, and senior officials were in attendance. Officials briefed the Chief Minister that Mingora city was the worst affected by the floods. Rescue and relief operations were in full swing, while surveys of damages to public infrastructure and private properties were underway and would be followed by restoration works. Gandapur directed authorities to mobilize additional machinery from other districts to clear flood debris and expedite damage assessments so that compensation payments could begin without delay. He announced that the provincial government had already released Rs3 billion through the Communication and Works Department and the Relief and Rehabilitation Department for compensation and restoration activities. He stressed the uninterrupted availability of food, medicines, and other essentials for victims. To prevent future disasters, the Chief Minister ordered the formation of a committee under the Deputy Commissioner Swat, in consultation with elected representatives, to demarcate the riverbed of the Swat River according to revenue records. KP flood victims: Govt should accelerate relief efforts immediately: JI chief
LAHORE: Chief Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman, has said that the large-scale loss of human lives and the destruction of vast areas of property in Northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is a trial from Allah. In this testing time, both the federal and provincial governments must set politics aside and provide immediate assistance to the displaced and affected people, he said. Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman expressed these views while addressing the public and the media during his visit to the flood-hit areas of Buner and Bajaur. On this occasion, President of Alkhidmat Foundation Professor Dr. Hafeezur Rehman, former senior provincial minister and Jamaat-e-Islami Northern KP chief Inayatullah Khan, along with other provincial and district leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami and Alkhidmat Foundation, were also present. He said, 'We have never supported military operations, nor will we in the future. Much has already been destroyed in the name of American friendship, and we cannot afford any further devastation.' Hafiz Naeemur Rehman visited the flood-affected areas of Beshoni and Bhattai Pir Baba in district Buner, offered condolences at the homes and guesthouses of martyrs, addressed condolence gatherings, and reviewed the destruction caused by the floods. He said that there is an urgent need to heal the wounds of the severely affected people in Buner and other flood-hit areas and to focus on joint efforts to overcome this painful situation. He added that Jamaat-e-Islami and Alkhidmat Foundation, immediately after this great tragedy, contacted both federal and provincial governments, assured them of unconditional cooperation, and launched relief activities in the affected regions. Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that we do not support any military operation or terrorism; such situations arise because of government policies, and the rulers must reflect on their policies. He said that in the name of friendship with the United States, we have already lost a great deal, and if this continues, it will bring further destruction. He said that at present, the people of Buner, Bajaur, Swat, Shangla, Lower Dir, Mansehra, Battagram, and other affected areas are going through extreme distress, and this is not a time for political point-scoring. That is why, immediately after the floods, he contacted Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and Prime Minister Mian Shehbaz Sharif to assure them of full cooperation on behalf of Jamaat-e-Islami and Alkhidmat Foundation in this national tragedy. Joint efforts should be made for the relief and rehabilitation of the flood victims so that the crisis can be dealt with more effectively. He said that thousands of Jamaat-e-Islami workers have joined Alkhidmat as volunteers and are standing alongside the flood victims in this difficult hour. Alkhidmat's relief network is extensive not only within the country but also abroad; billions of rupees in aid and food have already been sent to Gaza, and this effort is still ongoing. Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that, in order to prevent loss of life during floods, the World Bank had offered in 2017 to provide an early warning system to the government, but no government made any progress on it. He demanded from the federal and provincial governments that relief operations and the process of rehabilitation and reconstruction in flood-affected areas be accelerated, and that electricity, internet service, and communication systems in these areas be restored immediately.
