MBBS student from Telangana dies in Vietnam road accident
ADILABAD: A 21-year-old third-year MBBS student from Kumurambheem Asifabad, who was pursuing MBBS in Vietnam, died in a road accident in Can Tho City, his father said on Thursday. A purported video of the accident has gone viral.
Arshid Ashrit, who was riding a bike, was killed in the accident on Wednesday, his father Arjun said.
According to reports, Ashrith, son of cloth merchants Arshid Arjun and Pratimah from Kagaznagar, was riding a motorcycle in a rash manner with a friend when he lost control and crashed into a house wall. He died on the spot, while his friend sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment.
His family is in touch with Union ministers from Telangana — G Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar — to get his mortal remains back home.
BJP MLA from Sirpur, Palvai Harish Babu, visited them and consoled the grief-stricken family members.
The Indian Embassy in Vietnam had been informed about the tragedy through Kishan's office. Efforts are underway to get the body in three to four days, Harish Babu said.

Student's death: Murder case filed against med college principal, others
Kota: City police have registered a murder case against the principal of Kota Govt Medical College, a hostel warden and two MBBS students following directions from the State Commission for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (SC/ST Commission). The case relates to the death of Sunil Bairwa, a 28-year-old third-year MBBS student, who was found hanging in the college's hostel room in March this year. T he accused include Dr Sangeeta Saxena, the college principal, an unidentified hostel warden, and two MBBS students - Adarsh Fojdar and Sandeep. The case has been registered under different sections of BNS and the SC/ST Act at the Mahaveer Nagar police station. The development comes after the deceased student's father filed a plea with both state and national SC/ST commissions, alleging his son was murdered. According to the father's complaint, the college administration denied his son permission to appear for examinations and was allegedly harassed by the warden and two fellow students. Initially, police treated the case as a suicide and registered it under section 194 of BNSS. However, following the commission's intervention, the investigation has now been elevated to a murder case and transferred to the Deputy Superintendent of Police of the area. Circle Inspector Ramesh Kavia of Mahaveer Nagar police station confirmed that while preliminary evidence suggested suicide, a fresh investigation would be conducted under the new charges.

3 held for supplying illegal liquor using luxury vehicles
Bhopal: Police arrested three bootleggers involved in the transportation of illegal liquor using luxury vehicles in Berasia and Khajuri areas. Police seized large quantities of illicit alcohol and the high-end vehicles used in the smuggling operations. Cases were registered against the accused under the Excise Act. According to Berasia Police, a tip-off was received about a white SUV transporting illegal liquor from Khejda Mishr village towards Sironj. Acting on the information, police set up a checkpoint on Khejda Road and intercepted an SUV matching the given description. Upon inspection, 17 cartons of illegal liquor were recovered from the vehicle. The seized liquor was estimated to be worth Rs 72,000, and the SUV, valued at Rs 10 lakh, was also seized. Two accused, Pankaj Sahu, 25, and Sachin Ahirwar, 23, both residents of Berasia, were arrested at the scene. They were produced before the court after a case was registered under relevant provisions of the Excise Act. In a separate incident, Khajuri Police received intelligence during a night patrol about a white car transporting illegal liquor from Sehore to Bhopal. Police set up a checkpoint near Tumda Jod in Phanda village. A vehicle matching the description was soon spotted. When signalled to stop, the driver abandoned the car and attempted to flee but was apprehended after a brief accused, identified as Piyush Yadav, was taken into custody. A search of the vehicle revealed 30 litres of Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL), valued at Rs 48,000. A case under the Excise Act was filed.
