Jade Thirlwall's sweet nod to Little Mix as she makes Summertime Ball solo debut
Jade Thirlwall kicked off the 2025 Capital Summertime Ball at Wembley Stadium, making it her debut at the concert as a solo artist. However, it wasn't Jade's first time performing there, as she reminded fans during her set, and gave a sweet nod to her former band Little Mix, saying 'I miss my girls'.
As the pop icon stood on the stage, she asked the audience, 'I have done the Summertime Ball a few times before - do you know who with?', before sending fans into a frenzy with a medley of Shout Out To My Ex and Sweet Melody by Little Mix.
Jade then took a moment to mention her former bandmates and sweetly mentioned how much she 'misses' them and is 'proud' of all they achieved together. Jade said: 'I really do miss my Little Mix girls a lot and I am so proud of everything we achieved together, but I can't lie Wembley, it does feel nice to do my own songs written about my own personal experiences. With that said, this song was my first single'.
The singer, who looked stunning in a red and white miniskirt with a matching jacket, then performed Angel of My Dreams, but not before thanking her fans first.
Jade said: 'Before I leave, I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for backing me, supporting me as an artist, thank you Capital for having me here today, this is Angel of My Dreams'.
The appearance marked a significant milestone in her solo career, following a series of successful singles like "Angel of My Dreams," "Fantasy," and "It Girl". Her performance was highly anticipated, especially after her standout live shows at the Brit Awards and Radio 1's Big Weekend.
Since departing Little Mix in 2022, Jade has swiftly established herself as a solo artist and released her debut single, Angel of My Dreams, in July 2024, which debuted at number 7 on the UK Singles Chart.
Jade's debut album, That's Showbiz Baby, is set for release on September 12, 2025, under RCA Records. Last month, the singer took to Instagram to share the news with fans, posting: "THAT'S SHOWBIZ BABY! My debut album out 12th September." The announcement was accompanied by a striking image of what appears to be her album artwork, which features Jade in four different outfits and poses.
The singer, who will also kick off her first UK and Ireland tour in October, told fans: "This album has been years in the making, so I'm beyond excited that I can finally let everyone know when it's coming out. I'm very proud of 'THAT'S SHOWBIZ BABY!' as a body of work and can't wait to share it with the world. To be able to perform the album live later this year is also a dream come true. See you all on tour!"
This career move comes after Jade has already spent a decade in the spotlight after rising to fame as part of Little Mix in 2011.
The band went on to become one of the UK's most successful girl groups, clinching number one singles, Brit Awards, and touring internationally. After the band went on hiatus in May 2022, Jade kicked off her career as a solo artist.

I quit my job to claim benefits & spend the summer holidays with my kids – I'll be better off not working
A BUSY mum has revealed she ditched her job to look after her kids over the summer holidays. Loren Jade decided it would be more beneficial to stay at home rather than work, since she had no one else to help with her little ones. 2 2 Taking to TikTok, the mum explained that she's always worked hard and still struggled as a single mum. In the viral clip, she revealed she has no one else in the picture to lend a hand, which always left her in a sticky situation over the school holidays. So, the mum planned and paid for her kids to spend most of their time off school at various holiday clubs. "I had it all planned out, I knew exactly where the kids would be," she explained. But as the time got closer, the realisation that she wouldn't see her little ones over the summer holidays and that she'd be spending all of her hard-earned money on childcare hit her "like a ton of bricks." "I cannot force my son who has got SEN needs and a four year old to go to holiday clubs the whole of the six weeks holidays," she said. So, Loren decided to leave her job to look after her kids, which she said worked out better for her. In the comment section of the video, the mum noted that she doesn't currently receive DLA [Disability Living Allowance for children] which is partly why it works out cheaper for her to stay at home and help her son. At the end of the clip, the mum said she would still need to work though, but wasn't sure what her next career move would be. Keen for something out of her comfort zone, the mum said she would try to be a social media influencer on TikTok and asked viewers to follow her so she could give it a good shot. After sharing her decision to quit her job other parents were quick to share their experiences in the comment section of the clip. Kathryn Thomas reveals 'mistake' she made during school run One said: "Sometimes not working actually has more benefits than working. In my case, I have a child with a disability. "I worked for 11 years, and it was exhausting – I was losing myself and my child in the process. Staying home with him turned out to be the best decision." And another mum shared her solution for working during the summer holidays, she said: "I started up as self employed part time cleaner. "I'm on my own basically with no help around me, my six year old SEN is not in school so she comes to work with me. She cant be with others so she cant even do holiday clubs." And someone else said: "I'm having to send my son to holiday club every day as a single mum and I feel so bad as he does not want to go and every morning is a battle." "It's so hard, you work to provide for your family, yet are worse off for working! Its crazy! I'm in the same situation," someone else commented on the clip. How to survive six weeks of school summer holidays IF you are struggling with the six week summer holidays, you've come to the right place... BATTLING BOREDOM: Despite hours of activities and playdates, if your kids are already complaining there's nothing to do, parenting expert Liat Hughes Joshi says: 'Don't feel you have to organise every second of the holidays. Kids benefit from boredom and learn to make their own fun. 'Boredom can trigger creative and imaginative play but you need to encourage kids to get used to not being told how to spend their time. 'Ride out the pleas of boredom. Counter it with comments such as, 'What do you think you could do?' and maybe have a list of 'I'm bored' activity ideas on the fridge.' SCREEN OVERLOAD: It's tempting during the holidays to rely on a digital babysitter but don't let them gawp their whole summer away in front of a screen. Liat says: 'It's unfair to expect older kids to power down but it's important to set some ground rules. 'Set family tech rules together. If you're often distracted by your phone, follow the rules too. Maybe tell the kids they aren't allowed any screen time until they've done set chores, some exercise, or a board game. 'Are there times when you'd like to ban screens completely? Perhaps during dinner or when they have friends over to visit. 'Tech is a battleground for parents, but you have to set boundaries. Stand firm and be prepared to be unpopular.' TOO MUCH TOGETHERNESS: You love your kids, but being with them 24/7 can be exhausting. Do not feel guilty if you need a bit of downtime. Liat says: 'If you're juggling work and household tasks as well as occupying the kids, it's normal to start feeling overwhelmed or jaded and in need of some peace. 'If you can't afford or don't want to send your kids to all-day camps, look for free kids' workshops so you can get on with jobs or have a break for a couple of hours. 'Seeking a spell of quiet every now and then doesn't make you a bad parent — in fact it will probably make you more positive and enthusiastic when you are with the kids.' SCHEDULING CONFLICT: Schedules can go out the window during holidays, but late nights and early mornings can mean tired and unhappy children. Dr Tamara Bugembe, paediatrician and founder of says: 'Children get grumpy, test boundaries and become challenging when routines are broken. 'Sticking to some kind of routine during the holidays is a good idea. 'We release hormones at different times of the day and when regular meal times and bed times are broken, it causes dips and peaks in mood. 'Holidays are about having fun but an early night once or twice a week will make everyone happier.' EXCESS ENERGY: Make sure kids get out in the fresh air to tire them out — and make them healthier and happier. Dr Bugembe says: 'Sunshine also tops up vital vitamin D levels which helps improve bone strength and energy levels in children. Our levels run low in winter so let the kids stock up in warmer weather. 'Letting them run around in shorts and a T-shirt is the best way to top up. Make sure they're wearing sun cream, get outside and have fun. 'Encourage them to try healthy habits such as cycling and walking. They'll hopefully get hooked and want to carry them on when the weather gets colder.'

Zoe Ball's departure triggers loss of half a million BBC Radio 2 listeners
BBC Radio 2 has lost nearly 500k listeners in recent months after Zoe Ball's exit from the breakfast show in December BBC Radio 2 has seen a significant drop in its audience, losing nearly half a million listeners since introducing its revamped weekday line-up earlier this year, according to recent figures. The BBC station had replaced its renowned breakfast host, Zoe Ball, with Scott Mills after she stepped down from the position due to family commitments. The station had an estimated weekly audience of 12.62 million across April to June of this year, down from 13.11 million in the previous three months. It is the lowest total for Radio 2 since the current method of measuring listeners was introduced by research body Rajar in autumn 2021, following a break during the Covid-19 pandemic. The latest statistics are the first complete set of quarterly data reflecting changes made to the station's weekday programming, which took effect at the end of January 2025. Among the changes was Mills stepping in as the new breakfast show host, replacing Zoe. Other alterations included Trevor Nelson taking over the afternoon slot and DJ Spoony launching a late-night show from Monday to Thursday. Zoe presented her final breakfast programme on December 20 last year, after nearly six years in the role. Gaby Roslin and Mark Goodier temporarily hosted the show throughout January until Mills officially took over. Zoe announced last November that she would be stepping down as host of the Radio 1 Breakfast show to "focus on family". The broadcaster shares two children, Woody, 23, and Nelly, 14 with her ex-husband, Norman Cook, better known as Fatboy Slim. Announcing her decision live on air, Zoe said: "After six years of fun times alongside you all on the breakfast show, I've decided it's time to step away from the early alarm call and start a new chapter." She also expressed her excitement about her replacement being Mills, telling listeners: "Scott and I go way back to our Radio 1 days, when he was doing early mornings before me. He's been a close friend for years, and I'm beyond thrilled it's him taking over the Breakfast Show." She continued: "Breakfast has always been his dream, and what a year he's had - from racing around the world to his beautiful wedding to Sam. He's not only a blooming brilliant producer but one of the best in radio. I can't wait to tune in on the school run!" Radio 2's weekly audience has dropped by nearly two million over the past three years, falling from 14.53 million in April–June 2022. Despite the decline, it's still one of the most popular radio stations in the UK. The audience for the Today programme is down very slightly from 5.70 million in the previous three months, but up from 5.47 million in the equivalent period a year ago. This period has seen a number of veteran DJs disappear from the Radio 2 airwaves, such as Ken Bruce, who left to join Greatest Hits in March 2023; Steve Wright, who died in February 2024; and Johnnie Walker, who died in December 2024. Despite the loss of listeners, Helen Thomas, head of Radio 2, said: "I'm hugely proud that in a quarter where Radio 2 shone a light on Eurovision, celebrated Elaine Paige's 60 years in showbusiness, launched the RHS Radio 2 Dog Garden at the Chelsea Flower Show, and presented a VE Day 80 concert, Radio 2 firmly remains the UK's most listened to single radio station." "Congratulations to Scott Mills, whose Breakfast Show remains the number one breakfast show in the country, and Vernon Kay, whose weekday mid-morning show continues to be the most listened to programme on UK radio, with a weekly audience of 6.6 million," she continued.

Zoe Ball's career so far Zoe was born in Blackpool and is daughter of the children's TV presenter Johnny Ball and his wife Julia. After various behind the scenes roles, she earned a spot as a regular host of Top of the Pops, when she alternated with the likes of Jayne Middlemiss and Jo Whiley. In 1996, she was chosen to front BBC One's saturday morning show Live & Kicking, which led to stints on The Big Breakfast on Channel 4. But she maintained a huge presence on the radio as she was chosen to be the co-host of BBC Radio 1 Breakfast alongside Kevin Greening in October 1997. Zoe was later appointed the sole host of the show in a groundbreaking move by the corporation as she was the first female DJ to hold the post. The presenter chose to leave the station in March 2000 to start a family, where she was succeeded by Sara Cox. As a mainstream face in TV through the noughties, she hosted a range of huge programmes for ITV, including the Brit Awards in 2002, Extinct in 2006, and both Soapstar Superstar and Grease Is The Word in 2007. After 10 years fronting the show, Zoe announced she was quitting her role on BBC Two in May 2021. Zoe's journey in BBC Radio 2 started in 2006 when she fronted specialist documentaries. Over the years she sat in for names such as Dermot O'Leary, Ken Bruce and Chris Evans. After several shake-ups, she returned to the station on a permanent basis when she took over Dermot's Saturday afternoon slot between 3pm and 6pm. In October 2018, Chris Evans moved to Virgin Radio and he personally announced that Zoe would take over his popular slot. She started presenting the breakfast show on 14 January 2019. "We've shared a hell of a lot, the good times, the tough times, there's been a lot of laughter. And I am going to miss you cats." She added she would also miss her colleagues, saying they were "like family to me". The early morning presenter added: "But I won't miss the 4am alarm call, if I'm completely honest.
