Israel intercepts Yemen-launched hypersonic missile aimed at Ben Gurion airport
ALBAWABA- The Israeli army announced early Thursday that it had intercepted a ballistic missile launched from Yemen, triggering sirens across multiple regions and sending thousands of Israelis rushing to bomb shelters.
Houthi military spokesperson Brig. Gen. Yahya Saree claimed responsibility, saying the missile, identified as the Palestine 2 hypersonic ballistic missile, targeted Ben Gurion Airport in the occupied Jaffa (Tel Aviv) area. He said the strike caused the suspension of airport operations and sent 'millions' into shelters.

The attack comes two days after the Houthi-run Yemeni Armed Forces announced four operations against what they called 'vital Israeli targets' in Haifa, Umm al-Rashrash (Eilat), the Negev, and Beersheba, using six drones.
Since November 2023, Yemen's Houthis have launched hundreds of drones and ballistic missiles toward Israel, disrupted Red Sea shipping bound for Israeli ports, and demanded an end to the blockade on Gaza as part of their declared campaign in support of Palestinians.

Israeli settlers kill two young Palestinians in West Bank field execution
ALBAWABA - In the occupied West Bank on July 11, two young Palestinians, Saifullah Musallat (20) and his friend Mohammed Riziq Al-Shalabi (23), were killed in what witnesses say was a brutal attack that lasted for hours. The attack happened in the Al-Batin area. Also Read Smotrich declares West Bank 'part of Israel by Divine promise' Reports that Al Jazeera English got from witnesses, local officials, doctors, and relief workers say that the event started out as a quiet trip. After noon services, Saif, Riziq, and a few other friends went to fields owned by family in Al-Batin, an area with hills and olive trees between Sinjil and Al-Mazraa Al-Sharqiya. A deadly attack happened in the area, which is full of summer homes mostly owned by Palestinian Americans. Around 2:15 p.m., a group of farmers hit the young men with rocks. Many of them were armed with batons, sticks, and guns. In video from that day, Israelis are seen striking, and Palestinians can be seen hitting back with stones. The young people tried to run away, but the farmers called for more help, which made their group of enemies about 70 strong. The settlers roamed the area for hours, attacking and chasing anyone they saw. Another 50 Palestinians were hurt, and Saif and Riziq were killed in the fighting. Saif was found near an oak tree, dazed and having trouble breathing. He died before he could get to the hospital. In the late evening, Riziq's body had been shot, beaten, abused, and left to bleed to death. Since the killings, Israeli violence has gone up sharply. There were 1,449 attacks on Palestinians in the West Bank in 2024. 759 new cases have been reported just in the first half of 2025. He was born in Tampa, Florida, in 2004 and is a native of the United States. Before moving to Al-Mazraa Al-Sharqiya in 2012, he spent his early years in the United States. They lived in an area known as "Little America" because it was mostly made up of Palestinian American families. Saif, who was funny and friendly, moved back to the U.S. after high school to help run his family's ice cream shop, "Ice Screamin'." In June, he came back to the West Bank for two months to see family and friends and look for a bride-to-be. Riziq, who was also from Al-Mazraa, used to be an athlete and long jumper. He was raised in a Christian home like Saif and was well-liked in the neighborhood. In the West Bank, where Palestinian communities say they are facing rising Israeli violence that goes unpunished, the deaths of both men have made people more angry and sad.

Ben Gvir storms Barghouti's cell, issues threats amid concerns over his health
ALBAWABA - Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir caused a lot of anger when he broke into the solitary confinement cell of famous Palestinian prisoner Marwan Barghouti and made direct threats. This led to strong criticism from Palestinian officials and human rights activists. Channel 7 in Israel says Ben Gvir told Barghouti, "We will kill anyone who hurts the people of Israel." "You are not going to win." It was said that the visit, which was seen as provocative, was meant to make it harder for Palestinian prisoners to stay in jail. Video from the meeting showed that Barghouti looked weak and sick, which made people worry about his care and well-being. Barghouti's family was shocked by how he looked after seeing that he was very tired and had lost a lot of weight, which they said was because he was not getting enough medical care and was being held in hard conditions. Barghouti has been in jail since 2002, serving five life terms plus 40 years. He is a major figure in the movement of Palestinian inmates. Ben Gvir has been in charge of Israeli jails since late 2022. Since then, he has put in place strict rules that rights groups say have made prisoners' health much worse. At a Supreme Court meeting in July about jail conditions, he brazenly said that he had cut the amount of food given to Palestinian prisoners. — Radwan Abu Muamar 𓂆 🇵🇸 (@radwanmuamar) August 14, 2025 The head of the Palestinian Commission for Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs, Raed Abu Al-Homs, said that Ben Gvir's acts were dangerous and broke all the rules. His message to the Palestinians was to stand with Barghouti. The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs called what happened "organized state terrorism," and Hussein Al-Sheikh, a top Palestinian official, called the threats "the height of psychological, moral, and physical terrorism." Tensions are high because Israeli military leaders just approved a plan to fully reoccupy the Gaza Strip, which includes actions that are already going on in the Zeitoun neighborhood of Gaza City.

Smotrich declares West Bank 'part of Israel by Divine promise'
ALBAWABA- Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich has declared the West Bank 'part of Israel by divine promise,' unveiling a sweeping plan to confiscate thousands of dunams of Palestinian land, invest billions of shekels, and bring one million Jewish settlers to the area. Smotrich, who said he has full backing from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, announced the immediate launch of the long-delayed project to link the Ma'ale Adumim settlement with Jerusalem, known as the 'E1' plan. Critics warn the project will split the West Bank in two, isolate East Jerusalem, and effectively end any prospect for a Palestinian state. 'We will continue Jewish construction to eliminate the dream of a Palestinian state,' Smotrich said, calling for full Israeli sovereignty over the West Bank and the 'end of partition' in what he described as the world's only Jewish state. ⚡️🇵🇸🇮🇱JUST IN: Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich approved 3,401 housing units near Ma'ale Adumim settlement and will unveil the E1 plan tomorrow, aiming to block a future Palestinian state by cutting territorial continuity between Ramallah and Bethlehem. August 14, 2025 The head of Ma'ale Adumim's settlement council echoed Smotrich's remarks, vowing not to back down 'until Israeli sovereignty is established' and urging Israel to ignore international criticism. The Palestinian Foreign Ministry condemned the move as part of Israel's plan to destroy the geographic and demographic viability of a future Palestinian state, describing it as an extension of Netanyahu's vision of 'Greater Israel.' Netanyahu himself, in a recent interview with i24 News, said he is on a 'historical and spiritual mission' rooted in Talmudic teachings, envisioning Israeli expansion into parts of Egypt, Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, and Saudi Arabia. These remarks have drawn rare condemnation from moderate Arab states, including Jordan, Oman, Qatar, Egypt, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia, many of which maintain diplomatic and commercial ties with Israel. Analysts warn the statements could harden regional attitudes and potentially bolster resistance movements against what is seen as radical Israeli annexationist policy.
