The Leith Bottle Shop has been granted permission to fit a seating area in their premises.
The Licensing Board granted a license following a 14-month battle which saw the owners of the shop sit in front of the board on three occasions.
Thirsty Leithers will be able to get a cold pint at a -pop-up' in a few weeks with the owners also planning on installing a cellar in early 2026.
Leith Bottle Shop offers a range of locally sourced and unique products including craft beer which is produced in the surrounding neighbourhood.
Alex Harriss, owner of Leith Bottle Shop said: 'We're thrilled to have finally been given the go ahead to allow our customers to sit in for a drink as well as offering takeaway. Leith has a fantastic range of craft beer on offer, and we hope we can play just a small part in helping make Leith the place to go for beer lovers in Scotland.

"We're confident that this change will help financially sustain the business so we can continue to offer a place for people to try the incredible beer coming from Leith. We're so grateful for our loyal customers for supporting us along the way, in particular those who submitted letters of support to the Licensing Board.
"We're also thankful for the support offered by Councillor Adam Nols-McVey and Ben Macpherson MSP who supported through this long process – Licensing in Edinburgh certainly isn't easy!'

Iconic Edinburgh building joins the market with potential for new homes or hotel

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info An iconic Edinburgh structure has joined the market, with potential for new homes and office space. The former Scottish Widows headquarters, known for their hexagonal design, could also become student accommodation or hotels. The Dalkeith Road building spans over 200,000 square feet, is on sale though JLL, reports The Insider. Existing planning permission is in place for selective demolition, extension and upgrades. Under these plans, the majority of the buildings will remain. The approved plans outline the potential for a 174-apartment scheme, with 57 of the units to be designated as affordable. The majority of apartments incorporate private outdoor balconies or terraces. The planning permission also allows for the remaining hexagonal office blocks to be extended and upgraded to create a new development, capable of accommodating life science and knowledge sector occupiers. The plans target BREEAM Excellent and EPC A ratings, with measures including the addition of solar panelling. Cameron Stott, head of Scotland at JLL, said: 'Edinburgh has a critical shortage of both housing and suitable office space for the knowledge sector. 'The redevelopment of 15 Dalkeith Road has the opportunity address some of these requirements by delivering more homes and providing space close to the university in a stunning environment close to Arthurs Seat and Holyrood Park. 'We believe 15 Dalkeith Road could attract international investment and development into the city bringing jobs and opportunity for the wider community.' The site lies within the urban area designated by the City of Edinburgh Council's City Plan 2030, bringing other uses for it supported in by building purpose-built student accommodation and leveraging its close proximity to the University of Edinburgh's Holyrood campus.

Edinburgh coffee caravan 'devastated' to close after 'irreconcilable differences'

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info An Edinburgh coffee caravan has been forced to close after 'irreconcilable differences'. Isle Coffee, who operated in Joppa, made the announcement with 'great sadness'. After launching on Harris, owners moved to Edinburgh in hopes of bringing 'good vibes and good coffee'. However, they say that 'in trying to satisfy the needs of the council they haven't met the needs of the community '. They hope to be able to return to the area in the future, and said they were 'devastated to have caused so much consternation'. Locals were left gutted by the news, and said the caravan has been a 'joy to have'. Posting online, owner Sean said: "It is with a deep sadness that I have to let the great customers of Joppa know that we are having to shut the Isle Coffee caravan on Morton St and Esplanade Terrace. Sign up for Edinburgh Live newsletters for more headlines straight to your inbox "In trying to satisfy the needs of the council we have sadly not met the needs of the community and at this stage these seem to be irreconcilable differences. We hope in the future to find a workable solution and that we may be able to return to our new home. "In the meantime we are heading back to Harris (good news for our Hearachs) at the end of the week and we will try and sort this all out from there. We are devastated to have caused so much consternation, it was never our intention to bring anything other than good vibes and great coffee when we moved to Joppa. "We have loved meeting so many wonderful, friendly and joyful locals - it is a truly fantastic place to live and we have been made feel so welcome by so many people, we just hope we can sort things out and come back to Joppa." After sharing the news, locals were quick to comment with regret. One posted: "Really sorry to hear this, I enjoyed my post-swim coffee and was looking forward to many more. More info Another new bubble tea cafe is prepared to set up shop in Edinburgh city centre after an application for new signage was approved. HeyTea will open at 32-33 South Bridge between Ladbrokes and Ikigai Ramen Southbridge. An application for HeyTea branded signage was submitted to Edinburgh Council in February of this year and approved in late March. The shop will occupy the premises formerly occupied by another bubble tea shop, HI TEA, now closed. HeyTea is a popular bubble tea brand originating in China. They brand themselves as starting the "new tea style", which innovates traditional tea by adding ingredients like milk, fruit, and various toppings. They sell fruit tea and milk teas, experimenting with unusual ingredients like cheese foam. Join Edinburgh Live's Whatsapp Community here and get the latest news sent straight to your messages. Their website reads: "As the originator of the New Style Tea, we hav ebeen infusing our teas with eccentric inspiration, giving traditional tea a new life. We want to create a tea brand for young minds who are tired of mediocracy and who dare to drink differently." This will be the franchise's second Scotland store after their first opened in Glasgow. The brand also operates a number of cafes in London and Manchester. They also operate stores across the world in Australian, America, Canada, and Asia. Lines wrapped around the block with customers waiting for hours when the franchise opened their Glasgow branch on Byres Road, according to @theolivetreefamily on TikTok. Edinburgh Live reported recently on another new bubble tea cafe in the works after plans were lodged with Edinburgh Council to erect signage for Hey Luck Bubble Tea: Bubble Tea & Street Food at 72 South Clerk Street.
