Canada's Felix Auger-Aliassime advances to Cincinnati Open quarterfinals
Auger-Aliassime rode his powerful serve to a 6-4, 6-3 victory on Wednesday, firing nine aces across the one-hour, 14-minute match.
The 25-year-old from Montreal won all three available break points and 89 per cent of his first-serve points.
Auger-Aliassime will face the top-seeded Jannik Sinner of Italy in the quarterfinals of the hard court tournament.
Sinner is coming off a 6-4, 7-6(4) win over French qualifier Adrian Mannarino in the round of 16.

Auger-Aliassime is the lone Canadian singles player still in the tournament, though Canadian doubles specialist Gabriela Dabrowski and her partner, New Zealand's Erin Routliffe, are set to play American Caty McNally and Linda Noskova of Czechia in third-round action on Thursday.

BRNO – Joseph Salandra, Nikita Klepov and Blake Zielinksi scored in the shootout as the United States beat Canada 4-3 on Friday in the semifinals of the Hlinka Gretzky Cup. The U.S. will play Sweden in Saturday's gold-medal game, while Canada faces Finland for third place. Venezuela opened the scoring in the first inning when Lopez came home on a bases-loaded walk. In the second, Santiago Martinez doubled and scored on Reyes Querales's single before Alam Parra and Samuel Castillo crossed on wild pitches. Felix Hoyano took the loss for Canada, allowing four runs on six hits over three innings with two walks and five strikeouts. Arek Aubuchon followed with two scoreless innings of relief. Venezuela, which opened the tournament Wednesday with a 5-0 win over Puerto Rico, rolled through its regional tournament with a 46-6 run differential but needed a special U.S. travel exemption after visas were initially denied under U.S. President Donald Trump's restrictions affecting 19 countries. Create Account Bayern announced the transfer late Friday. Kicker magazine reported a fee of up to $41 million for the French winger. Coman, who scored Bayern's winning goal against Paris Saint-Germain in the 2020 Champions League final, will be part of a star-studded forward lineup with Ronaldo, fellow new signing João Felix and Coman's former Bayern teammate Sadio Mane. Al-Nassr is looking to improve after finishing third in the Saudi Pro League last season and signed Ronaldo to a two-year contract extension in June. Former Barcelona defender Inigo Martinez joined on a free transfer last week. Coman's departure from Bayern comes two weeks after the German champion signed Luis Diaz from Liverpool, intensifying Coman's competition for places. 'When a player as successful as him leaves the club, it's always a bit emotional,' Kompany said earlier Friday. 'You have to have understanding for his position in this situation and what he'd like. For me, what's important now is that we look forward and that we show a lot of respect for Kingsley Coman, for what he's done for this club.' Coman won the German title nine times at Bayern since his initial arrival on loan from Juventus in 2015. Despite that success, the 29-year-old winger struggled for playing time last season and was often used as a bench player by Kompany, even before Diaz's arrival. Coman had nine goals in 45 games in all competitions last season and is the second experienced Bayern forward to leave after Leroy Sane departed for Turkey's Galatasaray on a free transfer, also after lacking game time. 'He earned an eternal place in the club's history with his goal in the 2020 Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain,' Bayern board member for sport, Max Eberl, said.
