England's Cara Gainer claimed the first Ladies European Tour win of her career in a play-off at the Lalla Meryem Cup on Saturday. The 29-year-old defeated India's Diksha Dagar to lift the title in Morocco.Gainer posted a final round of four-under 69, while 24-year-old Dagar finished on six-under 67, leaving the pair tied on nine under overall. A bogey for Dagar opened the door for Gainer to take victory by birdieing the play-off hole. Ireland's Lauren Walsh finished joint-fourth with Nuria Iturrioz on seven under, while England's Annabell Fuller ended level on six under with France's Nastasia Nadaud. Gainer was one of nine players chasing down overnight leader Shannon Tan after Friday's third round. Singapore's Tan was overtaken by the first nine holes, however, as she failed to make any birdies, eventually ending the tournament in third. Iturrioz started brightly with four consecutive birdies to take the lead, but the Spaniard dropped out of the running after four bogeys on the back nine.

Man Utd, Liverpool and Tottenham battling it out for Bournemouth standout

There is a three-way battle on between Manchester United, Tottenham and Liverpool for a player who enjoyed an eye-catching season in the Premier League last time round. Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo scored 11 Premier League goals and 13 in all competitions as he continued to impress for the Cherries. The 25-year-old signed from Bristol City in January 2023 and has been gradually improving on the step up to the top flight. His performances have been good enough to attract some heavyweight attention, with Bournemouth now facing a battle to keep hold of the Ghana international. Sky Sports report that Tottenham and Manchester United are both showing an interest in Semenyo, while he was already believed to be on Liverpool's list of targets. The report states that the forward's preference is a move to a Champions League club, which will leave Manchester United at a disadvantage, but the Red Devils retain significant pulling power, despite their disastrous last season. Spurs and United are also scrapping it out for the signature of Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo and whichever club wins that race will have an impact on Semenyo's future. Manchester United are more focussed on the Bees star than the Cherries forward and it is unlikely they would move for Semenyo if they are successful in snapping up Mbeumo. Any club wanting to sign Semenyo this summer will have to spend big, with Bournemouth keen to keep hold of a player they paid £10m for. The Sun reported in March that the Cherries would ask for £75m from any interested party. Semenyo had a trial with Spurs as a teenager, as he did at Arsenal, Crystal Palace and Fulham, all of which were unsuccessful before he was eventually given a chance by Bristol City. He used those disappointments as motivation, telling Football Focus last year: 'As a 15- or 16-year-old, you don't know how to cope with your emotions – being so high, being so upset all the time. 'I did have a lot of doubts but I had positive parents. They always told me life's not always going to be roses. 'They are all experiences that you have to go through. But it's definitely helped me and motivated me to this day.' Appearances: 81 Goals: 20 Assists: 7 Yellow cards: 15 Red cards: 0 Bournemouth have already sold Dean Huijsen to Real Madrid this summer for £50m and Milos Kerkez is expected to leave for Liverpool for around £40m. More Trending The significant departures mean the Cherries will not have to sell and will not want to lose any further players from Andoni Iraola's starting XI. Their impressive season under the Spaniard was well observed, though, with Illya Zabarnyi another player targeted for a big move. Champions League winners PSG are keen on the Ukrainian defender, who Bournemouth signed from Dynamo Kiev in 2023. Chelsea in race to seal TWO transfers and beat FIFA Club World Cup deadline

Chelsea remains in talks to land both Mike Maignan from AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens and want the duo before their Club World Cup campaign Chelsea are hoping to complete TWO transfers ahead of the Club World Cup - one of which is landing a new goalkeeper in Mike Maignan with talks remaining ongoing with AC Milan. The Blues, like several of the club competing in FIFA's new tournament, are looking to get their business done early. Enzo Maresca wants to bring in a new No.1 and they've targeted the Frenchman but are currently well short of Milan's valuation of the player. ‌ They've lodged a new £15million offer which they hope will be enough to sign Maignan, who is about to enter the final 12 months of his contract at the San Siro. Chelsea 's initial £10m valuation of the 29-year-old was nowhere near the £25m Milan ideally want. ‌ If a deal can be struck then Maignan will become Chelsea's new first-choice goalkeeper and the player himself has made it known that he wants to move to Stamford Bridge, where several shot stoppers have tried and failed to make the position their own. Chelsea know they are poised to lose one of their goalkeepers with Arsenal closing in on a deal to sign Chelsea's Kepa Arrizabalaga for £5m. The Spaniard is aware that he has no future at Stamford Bridge after several loan spells away - the most recent coming at Bournemouth - and is set for Arsenal in a cut-price deal due to the release clause in his contract. The Blues are also keen and remain in discussions with Borussia Dortmund over Jamie Gittens. The England U21 international could be on the move but the Premier League side know they must do more to tempt the German club after having a £29.5m opening bid rejected - as first reported by the Evening Standard. Gittens, who was once on Chelsea's books as a youngster before leaving to pursue first-team opportunities. Dortmund may ask for as much as £50m for the 20-year-old winger. He is the latest English player to excel at the Bundesliga club after Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham both excelled. Chelsea and Dortmund are both competing at the Club World Cup in the United States and have until Tuesday night's transfer deadline to get a deal done if he is to be playing in blue, rather than yellow, come the tournament. On Monday the west London side confirmed the signing of teenage defender Mamadou Sarr, who joins from sister club Strasbourg for a fee of £12m. Maresca's major summer signing thus far is the £30m capture of Liam Delap, who joined from Ipswich.
