Arsenal FC add Eberechi Eze to transfer shortlist as Tottenham battle looms

Eze, who turns 27 on Sunday, finished the season in superb form, following up his first international goal for England against Latvia in March by scoring nine times in Palace's last 13 games of the campaign, including the match-winner in the FA Cup final against Manchester City as the Eagles lifted their first-ever major trophy at Wembley.

Celtic's Johnny Kenny asking price revealed as English club told to increase bid to land for-sale star

Kenny shone during a loan spell with Shamrock Rovers in the first half of last season and bagged 20 goals. He enjoyed a rich vein of form in the Conference League, which persuaded Rodgers to bring him back after January. The 22-year-old broke into the first-team squad towards the end of the season and scored his first Hoops goal in a 5-1 win at Aberdeen. But he is still behind Daizen Maeda and Adam Idah in the pecking order, with Celts also keen on a move for Kawasaki Frontale attacker Shin Yamada. New Swedish signing Benjamin Nygren, who arrived last week in a £2million deal from Nordsjaelland, can also play up top. Meanwhile, Liverpool are ready to throw former Celtic winger Ben Doak into a swap deal for England star Marc Guehi. The Anfield club's transfer team are focusing on centre-half Guehi as their next target, but Palace want in the region of £50m. Scotland star Doak is fancied by Palace and rated in the £25m bracket, despite his limited appearances outside a loan spell at Middlesbrough. Liverpool would send Doak and cash to Selhurst Park to get Guehi, but that will still take a great deal of negotiating. The diggers move in as Celtic Park pitch is dug up Palace supremo Steve Parish is renowned for standing firm on his valuations, so the Kop would have to offer a significant amount of cash as an adjustment. Everton are also keen on Doak but not at the £25m mark, with the player waiting on word about his future. Meanwhile, Guehi is letting his deal run down but has been relatively lowly paid at Palace for some time — with money not his driving force. Chelsea strike deal with Borussia Dortmund to sign Jamie Gittens as Blues finally make breakthrough in transfer saga - and are set to table seven-year contract to youngster

Chelsea have agreed a deal with Borussia Dortmund to sign Jamie Gittens. While the figures have not been revealed, sources have confirmed the Blues are set to secure the 20-year-old Englishman after chasing him since the summer window opened. Gittens has already appeared for Dortmund at the Club World Cup and so would not be able to be added to Chelsea's squad, should they beat Benfica in their last-16 clash. He is set to sign a seven-year contract which was agreed earlier this month, and is going to undergo a medical over the weekend. Chelsea previously had a £42million bid turned down by Dortmund before striking their new deal. Gittens is returning to England after almost five years in Germany, having joined Dortmund from Manchester City in September 2020. He also spent five years in Reading's youth academy. Gittens has been capped by England at five different age levels, but he was unable to play at this summer's U21 Euros due to his participation at the Club World Cup. Meanwhile, Enzo Maresca's side are understood to have also had an offer rejected by Brighton for their 23-year-old forward, Joao Pedro. The Seagulls have turned down two bids for Pedro from Premier League sides – one from Chelsea and another from Newcastle, both believed to have been at around £50m. Brighton want £60m. Chelsea have already added Liam Delap to their squad this summer for £30m from Ipswich Town.

Crystal Palace set new price for Liverpool and Arsenal to sign Marc Guehi

Crystal Palace have reportedly set a new price tag for Marc Guehi as Liverpool step up their interest in the England star. Following their Premier League triumph, Liverpool have been splashing the cash this summer, bringing in Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong for just shy of £200million. They could yet sign a striker but their priority is to bring in a new centre-back with England U21 star Jarell Quansah set to join Bayer Leverkusen in a deal worth £35m. The situation is somewhat pressing as Arne Slot only has three senior centre-backs, namely Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Ibrahima Konate, with the latter out of contract next summer and talks over a new deal not progressing. Guehi has emerged as their top target after captaining Palace to their best ever Premier League season and FA Cup glory in 2024/25 and, according to the Mirror, the Reds will open talks with the Eagles and the player this weekend. Arsenal are also interested in the 24-year-old who has entered the last 12 months of his contract and was the subject of big money bids from Newcastle and Tottenham last season The Magpies failed to meet Palace's £70m valuation last summer and while Spurs did, their offer came far too late in the January window to be considered. While it is said Guehi is willing to run down his deal if a prospective buyer does not guarantee regular first-team football, Palace do not wish to lose such a valuable asset on a free transfer. The report adds that Oliver Glasner's side still value the defender at £70m but know that no club will bid that given his contract situation. More Trending As a result they now want at least £40m but will hold out for as much as possible given that Chelsea have a 20 per cent sell-on clause in his contract. The Blues sold their academy graduate to Palace in 2021 for £18m and have been linked with re-signing him in the past, but their interest has cooled of late. If Guehi does move to Anfield his first game for his new club will, ironically, be against his old one, with Liverpool taking on Crystal Palace in the Community Shield on August 10. The south Londoners are also bracing themselves for Arsenal or Tottenham to make a bid for talisman Eberechi Eze, who has a £68million release clause.
