Through the 2025 UEFA European Women's Championship, England had gutted out ways to win. It happened for the Lionesses against Sweden and Italy. It only made sense to see that trend continue in Sunday's final against Spain.
But where the enormity of the moment overwhelmed Spain, England's Chloe Kelly could not have been more confident in penalties.
After Spain missed a prime opportunity to win in extra time and missed three straight attempts in penalties, Kelly stepped up to the spot with a chance to give England its second straight Euro title. To her, the result was never in doubt.
Kelly started her approach with a high leg lick and proceeded to rip her penalty beyond Cata Coll.
"I was cool, I was composed. I knew I was going to hit the back of the net." 🥶England's Chloe Kelly after scoring the game winning penalty for the Lionesses at UEFA Women's EURO 2025 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 pic.twitter.com/WISf6f7Bl0
After the match, Kelly said she was cool and composed in the moment. And that was clear with her attempt. What a strike.

🚨 BREAKING: Danny Röhl steps down as Sheffield Wednesday manager

Sheffield Wednesday have confirmed Danny Röhl's departure as manager. Röhl took the reins with the Championship outfit as his first frontline coaching role in 2023 and defied the odds by steered them away from relegation to the third tier. He followed that up with a credible 12th place finish last season despite Wednesday being hit with a three-window transfer ban due to their perilous financial situation. But the Owls have reluctantly agreed a deal that leaves Röhl free to pursue his options elsewhere, although he is not expected to take a new job imminently. A statement on the Wednesday website said: "Sheffield Wednesday can confirm the departure of manager Danny Röhl by mutual consent. "The German coach joined the Owls in October 2023 and oversaw a successful survival mission to maintain our Championship status in his maiden season at Hillsborough. "Wednesday then consolidated the following term, with Röhl steering the club to a mid-table finish in the second tier. "Sascha Lense, Chris Powell, Neil Thompson and Sal Bibbo have also departed S6. "Sheffield Wednesday would like to thank Danny and his backroom team for their services and wish them well for the future." 📸 Gareth Copley - 2025 Getty Images

Manchester City reject £25 million offer for James McAtee

Officials at Manchester City have reportedly rejected an opening offer for James McAtee from Nottingham Forest, according to new developments. City remain open to sanctioning a sale of the attacking midfielder, but only if their valuation is met and perhaps if the terms of any departure include favourable clauses, such as a buy-back or sell-on agreement. McAtee, who impressed in two loan spells at Sheffield United in the Championship and Premier League despite their relegation from the latter, is currently attracting significant interest across the Premier League and beyond. Manchester City's long-standing stance has been to command a permanent fee in the region of £40 million for McAtee, moving closer towards the fee they secured from Chelsea for Cole Palmer in 2023. With homegrown quotas and squad space tightening at the Etihad Stadium, and the emergence of other young midfielders such as Sverre Nypan and Claudio Echeverri, a permanent departure is viewed as the most likely outcome this summer. However, despite the club being prepared to part ways with the Salford-born starlet, Manchester City are not under pressure to sell quickly and there is confidence within the club that McAtee's valuation will only grow as the window progresses and as more clubs assess their own creative midfield options closer to deadline day. Now, according to the information of Sky Sports News' Pete Graves, Nottingham Forest have had an offer in the region of £25 million rejected by Manchester City for James McAtee. It is detailed that Forest are 'pushing' for an agreement over the England Under-21 international star while Manchester City are holding out for a bigger fee, with other clubs interested. Forest's interest comes as the club seeks to bolster its midfield options, and McAtee's blend of technical control, final-third productivity, and versatility makes him a priority target, and the Midlands club are expected to return with an improved offer. Beyond Forest, there is also interest from Bundesliga clubs and other Premier League outfits. Brighton are believed to remain attentive to the situation, while West Ham United and Everton are also known admirers. As for City, the situation is unlikely to drag into late August if a club is willing to meet their demands, although the club would prefer to resolve McAtee's future before the start of the competitive campaign, particularly with Pep Guardiola looking to streamline his ranks. Should Forest return with an improved proposal in the coming days – perhaps closer to the £35 million – and agree to any clause demands, a deal could move quickly. However, with other clubs monitoring developments, there is no shortage of options for both the player and Manchester City in the weeks ahead.
