ECP celebrates 15 years of service to the panhandle
On May 23, 2010, the first plane took off from the Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport's runway.
Since then, the airport has served nearly 2 million passengers; a 501% increase that airport officials could have never expected.
'It's just grown year over year over a year faster than I think anybody anticipated. The last few years, we've been discovered and we've gotten more popular than I think we thought we were. So right now, it's a matter of trying to keep up with that while we also grow in a much bigger way,' Airport Authority Vice Chair Will Kramer said.
Since its opening, the airport has added 500 parking spaces, a larger baggage claim area, and is looking to expand the completed terminal build-out. However, the airport wasn't always popular and it wasn't widely accepted by the community when it was first built.
'It was a difficult process for my predecessors and the board and prior to with because the airport wasn't really and nobody wanted it. And look where we are today. We've got the four legacy airlines. We've got new cities every year,' ECP Executive Director Parker McClellan said.
But ECP is growing in more ways than one.
Just a few months after they announced the first ever set of direct summer flights to Laguardia Airport in New York, the airport confirmed direct flights to LGA would become a permanent, daily service starting in November.
They also have expanded direct flights to Texas with Southwest and Delta.
With more flights, officials are looking to grow their food options for the influx of passengers.
Officials have discussed adding a sit-down restaurant and two to three other vending options, which could make way for local offerings inside the airport.
No decision on that has been made.

'Weird' small town near NYC named best in the US for 2025
Get outta here! An audacious new list crowning a Jersey burg one of the best small towns in America suggests its downtown — all but left for dead just decades ago — currently rivals the best NYC has to offer. Chosen by the jet-setting experts at Travel + Leisure, the America's Best Small Towns 2025 survey chose ten lucky spots from coast to coast — settling on Asbury Park, NJ as a top pick. Advertisement 5 One of the 'best small towns' in America is just a quick ride from the Big Apple – and supposedly rivals the best NYC has to offer. vin – Barely an hour from the Holland Tunnel and not much longer via NJ Transit from Penn Station, this isn't the gym, tan and laundry-loving Jersey Shore reality star Snooki and her spray-tanned crew repped on MTV in the 2010s. The once forgotten blue-collar city of roughly 15,000 full-time residents gained national attention in 1973 when Bruce Springsteen released his album 'Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J.,' and remains a hub for music lovers — much thanks to beloved music venue The Stone Pony. The magazine credited the town's turnaround to investments made by the LGBTQ+ community, restoring real estate and supporting local businesses to grow the community into a diverse dream destination. Advertisement 'There's a raw, creative energy that's hard to describe unless you've spent time here,' Shauna Lagala, a local hotel manager, told Travel + Leisure. 'It's weird in the best way — a mix of old-school Jersey, artists, punks, surfers, and people who just don't want to live anywhere typical. It's the kind of town where you can grab a cold brew at a café run by someone in a band, then walk five minutes and end up in a tattoo shop or an art gallery,' she said. 5 'There's a raw, creative energy that's hard to describe unless you've spent time here,' Shauna Lagala, complex hotel manager at the Asbury Collection, told Travel + Leisure. Stephen Yang Surf and sand, among the main attractions in Asbury Park, were not mentioned in the listing — beach passes in the now-popular town range from $7 to $10 daily, and are required from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. 'The historic boardwalk has been completely reimagined and rivals the coolest street in Brooklyn,' Travel + Leisure claimed. 5 The surf and sand were not mentioned in the listing and are not open to the public. Jin – Asbury Park was the only town in the Northeastern US to make the list — a repeat of last year, when New Hope, Pennsylvania, was recognized. In order to be considered, each town must a full-time population under 45,000 — a big increase from last year's qualification of 25,000 — and a solid reputation for one specific activity. Asbury Park was named as the country's 'best small beach town.' The towns needed to offer 'a variety of activities, accommodations, and a timely reason to visit — be it a notable new festival, hotel, restaurant, attraction, or tourism initiative,' the experts explained. 5 'The historic boardwalk has been completely reimagined and rivals the coolest street in Brooklyn,' Travel + Leisure wrote. Centrica, ECP to Acquire Isle of Grain LNG
This article was first published on Rigzone here Centrica plc said it has acquired the Isle of Grain liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in the United Kingdom in partnership with Energy Capital Partners LLP (ECP) from National Grid for an enterprise value of $2.03 billion (GBP 1.5 billion). After taking into account approximately $1.49 billion (GBP 1.1 billion) of new non-recourse project finance debt, Centrica's 50 percent share of the equity investment is approximately $271.13 million (GBP 200 million), the company said in a news release. Centrica and ECP will hold the investment in Grain LNG through a jointly controlled entity with customary governance provisions, including reserved matters, according to the release. Centrica said that there are 'opportunities for efficiencies to create additional near-term value,' with future development options including a combined heat and power plant, bunkering, hydrogen and ammonia. The acquisition is expected to close in the fourth quarter, conditional upon certain regulatory approvals being received, including approval under the National Security and Investment Act and certain mandatory anti-trust approvals, ECP said in a separate statement. Grain LNG is Europe's largest LNG regasification terminal and is located east of London. Its primary service is the provision of LNG storage and regasification capacity to customers under long-term, inflation-linked capacity contracts. The terminal has an annual regasification capacity of 21.7 billion cubic meters and tank storage capacity of 1 million cubic meters, according to the statement. Grain is currently undergoing an expansion of 5.3 billion cubic meters of additional regasification capacity and an additional 200,000 cubic meters of storage capacity. After completion of the ongoing expansion of the site it will be able to provide up to a third of the UK's gas demand, the statement said. Take control of your THOUSANDS of Oil & Gas jobs on Search Now >> Centrica Group Chief Executive Chris O'Shea said, 'The Isle of Grain terminal is a strategic asset that will support the UK's energy security for many decades to come, keeping energy flowing reliably and affordably to households and businesses across the country as we transition to net zero. That's why we are so pleased to be investing, continuing Centrica's pivot towards long-term, predictable infrastructure cash flows, underpinning our medium-term guidance and creating valuable future options'. 'We are delighted to be partnering with ECP, a highly experienced investor in energy infrastructure around the world. We look forward to working with them and Grain LNG's management team to deliver on the full potential of this unique asset for customers and the country,' O'Shea continued. 'Our decision to commit [GBP 3 billion] of capital in both Sizewell C and the Isle of Grain demonstrates the attractiveness of the UK as an investment location underpinned by supportive government investment policies,' he added. ECP President and Managing Partner Tyler Reeder said, 'As one of the largest private owners of natural gas generation and infrastructure assets in the U.S., ECP has long understood that natural gas is indispensable to keeping grids resilient and advancing the transition to a lower-carbon future. With the emergence of the U.S. as the global leader in low-cost LNG supply and the growing need for reliable natural gas supply across the UK and Europe, we believe Grain LNG will increasingly be relied upon as critical infrastructure to deliver dependable energy to local markets'.
