‘2019 World Cup, I saw him crying…: Yuzvendra Chahal on seeing Virat Kohli cry post World Cup semis loss against New Zealand

It has been close to six years since the Virat Kohli-led Indian team lost the 2019 World Cup semifinal against New Zealand and bowed out of the tournament in their bid to win the world title. With Kohli not winning a World Cup under his captaincy, the former Indian captain won the IPL title with Royal Challengers Bengaluru for the first time in this year's IPL. Indian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has now shared how he also saw Kohli crying in the bathroom after the 2019 World Cup loss. Chahal was replying to a question about having seen Kohli cry while talking about Kohli in tears after winning the IPL trophy. 'In the 2019 World Cup, I saw him (Virat Kohli) crying in the bathroom. And then I was the last batter; when I was crossing him, he had tears in his eyes. In 2019, I saw everyone crying in the bathroom,' Chahal said in a YouTube show hosted by Raj Shamani. The Indian team had lost the 2019 World Cup semifinal against New Zealand, a match in which weather played a part. With rain interrupting the match on the first day, the match resumed on the reserve day with the Kiwis resuming at 211 for 6 in 46.1 overs. New Zealand set a target of 240 runs on the reserve day, followed by the Indian team being bundled out for a total of 221 runs in 49.3 overs. It also turned out to be Mahendra Singh Dhoni's last ODI match, as the former Indian captain announced his international cricket retirement in 2020. Chahal, who took one wicket for 63 runs in that match, shared that he regrets his performance in the semifinal. 'It was Mahi bhai's last match. I could have done better. I still regret that. I could have pushed myself a bit more, bowled a bit better, and leaked 10-15 fewer runs. But sometimes you are in that flow; it happens so quickly that you don't get time to think. I thought if I was calmer, I could have done even better. I gave my best, but it was the semi-final, a bigger stage, and you have to give your 10-15 percent extra,' Chahal added. The 35-year-old leg-spinner also shared his experience playing under different captains, including Rohit Sharma. 'I love how Rohit bhaiya carries himself on the ground. He's a very good captain. With Virat bhaiya, it's the energy he brings, the same energy every day. It will only go up and never down. Same energy. Every day,' said Chahal.

Is CSK Trading T Natarajan From Delhi For IPL 2026? Viral Picture Sparks Speculations

T. Natarajan once heralded as India's promising left-arm pace bowler appears to be fueling a growing trade narrative in IPL circles. Despite being Delhi Capitals' ₹10.75 crore marquee buy in the IPL 2025 mega auction, he played just two matches all season. Amid low game time and visible injury concerns, a viral photo of him wearing CSK gear at the Chennai Super Kings academy is stoking rumors of a berth with CSK for IPL 2026. Why Natarajan Played Only 2 Games In IPL 2025 Delhi Capitals spent ₹10.75 crore, their third-highest bid after KL Rahul and Mitchell Starc on Natarajan ahead of IPL 2025. Yet he featured in just two games: against Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad. Notably, the SRH fixture was washed out before he could bowl any deliveries. In total, he bowled only 18 balls throughout the season, sparking major concerns over the franchise's utilization of such a high-value pickup. Natarajan training at Super Kings Academy — Johns. (@CricCrazyJohns) August 2, 2025 During a TNPL commentary stint, Delhi head coach Hemang Badani clarified the situation: "Why would we spend ₹11 crore on a player & bench him? We bought him specifically for the middle & end overs, unfortunately, Natarajan wasn't fully fit after returning from injury, remained injured throughout the season, that's why he didn't play.' Badani emphasized that he wasn't dropped for performance reasons but was still recovering from a shoulder injury and couldn't be risked mid-season. Viral CSK Academy Appearance Fuels Transfer Speculation In recent off-season footage, Natarajan was seen training at the CSK academy, sporting custom Chennai Super Kings apparel and sharing a selfie to social media. This sparked chatter online and on fan forums. While anybody doesn't have confirmation of any trade, cricket fans on X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram are already speculating does CSK plan to bring him in as a seasoned Indian pacer tailored for Chepauk conditions? Trade Feasibility: Possible but Complicated With the IPL trade window now open, many see the transfer as plausible: CSK lacks consistent Indian quicks and would welcome a left-arm seamer familiar with subcontinental conditions. Delhi may be open to cashing in on a high-value contract they couldn't utilize fully. However, with DC's large investment, any trade will likely involve significant financial compensation or player exchange. It won't be straightforward. While CSK Trading Sanju Samson is also a rumour of the IPL world, anything is yet to happen till now.

‘The venue has been compromised...': Matthew Hayden recalls scary night IPL was suspended due to IND-PAK conflict

Former Australia cricketer Matthew Hayden recalled the chilling night the IPL 2025 was suspended mid-match due to India-Pakistan tensions. The match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamsala was called off after drone attacks in nearby areas. read more Former Australian cricketer and commentator Matthew Hayden has shared his scary experience from the night the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season was suspended midway due to safety concerns during an India-Pakistan conflict. Speaking on the All Over Bar The Cricket podcast, Hayden revealed that the incident happened when he was travelling from Mumbai to Delhi, and then had to drive 11-12 hours to Dharamsala for the match. It was for the match between the Punjab Kings and the Delhi Capitals. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD By the time Hayden and others reached the venue, they were told the game would go on. But the lights at the stadium started to go off soon after and the match was abandoned with everyone evacuated quickly. 'I'd flown from Mumbai overnight to Delhi because there wasn't a connecting flight with Punjab's home ground (for that game) Dharamsala. Magnificent ground. But by the time I landed in Delhi, there was no airport open,' Hayden said. 'It was at the time that coincided with the incursion of Pakistan back into India and we were talking drones navigating across the skies, taking out ground to air missiles and it was just eerie. We had to take a car via Chandigarh up to Dharamsala. That's a 11 and a half, 12 hour drive. By the time we reached the venue we were told the game was about to proceed,' he added. Hayden reveals what happened on the scary night Things took a strange turn when the stadium lights started going off during the game. While viewers were initially told it was a technical issue, Hayden admitted that the commentators were warned in advance. 'But half an hour before we went on air we were given a security message that if the light towers were to to go out, it's not a technical issue. It's actually a sign that the venue has been compromised and there will be an emergency evacuation response and we will proceed,' he said. 'I was mid-sentence with my usual garbage on air and the first light tower goes out so I've let the spectators and fans know that it has gone out. Then the second goes almost immediately. Next minute security came in like a blanket. Dropped my mic literally mid-sentence and we were ushered out of the ground,' he added. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD A day after the incident, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officially suspended the IPL for a week. Once tensions between India and Pakistan eased and both sides agreed to a ceasefire, the BCCI confirmed the league would resume with a revised schedule featuring selected venues.
