'Lewis Hamilton Frustrated But...': Ferrari Boss Reacts After Briton's Listless Show In Hungary
Lewis Hamilton received support from his Ferrari team boss, Fred Vasseur, on Sunday, just hours after the Briton appeared dejected following a lackluster 12th place finish in the Hungarian Grand Prix. While his team-mate Charles Leclerc was unable to convert Ferrari's first pole position of the season into victory due to unexplained mechanical issues during the race, seven-time champion Hamilton struggled to escape the midfield and finished where he started.
On Saturday, after being eliminated in Q2, Hamilton seemed miserable, describing himself as 'completely useless" and suggesting the team should 'bring in another driver." His deflated demeanour indicated the pressures of living up to the hype of his high-profile move from Mercedes, where he won six titles, and adapting to the culture, car, and expectations at Ferrari were overwhelming him.
'I don't need to motivate him," said Vasseur. 'Honestly, he's frustrated, but not demotivated. He's demanding, but I think it's also why he's a seven-time world champion. I can perfectly understand this situation. Sometimes, you hear comments from drivers during the race, but if you put a microphone on other sportsmen, in football and so on, I'm not sure it would be much better.
'Sometimes, just after the race or qualifying, you're very disappointed, and your initial reaction is harsh. I understand the frustration, but we're all frustrated."
Vasseur added that Hamilton's weekend seemed worse than it really was due to the tight and competitive times that caused him to miss out on reaching Q3 on Saturday.
'For sure, when you're a seven-time world champion, and your team-mate is on pole position while you're out in Q2, it's a tough situation," he said. 'But we can also take a closer look and see that he was ahead of Charles in Q1 and was only one-tenth off in Q2 with the first set. We were close to having both cars out in Q2.
'I understand Lewis's frustration. That's normal, and he will come back. He was stuck in a DRS train, but when he was alone, his pace was good. I'm sure he will be back and perform."
Fourth-placed Leclerc supported his team-mate.
'At the end, we are one team and as much as I want to finish ahead of Lewis, I want both of us to be successful and for Ferrari to be successful. Obviously, this weekend has been tough for Lewis," Leclerc said.
'But I have no doubt that it's a one-off, and I'm sure the second part of the season will be much more positive."
Hamilton, currently sixth in the drivers' standings and without a podium for Ferrari this year, said he was looking forward to a much-needed 'break from work" during F1's August holiday before the Dutch Grand Prix on the final weekend of this month.

Team India's Next Match: When Will Men In Blue Be Back In Action After Oval Win?
Last Updated: After a thrilling 2-2 draw against England, when will India men play their next international match? Find out here. The India-England series can be described with many adjectives: exciting, historical, unforgettable, but also exhausting. For the first time in eight years, we saw a five-test series with all matches going to the last day. Many players got injured in the sheer weight of their increased workloads, and Mohammed Siraj was the only fast bowler to bowl in all the innings available to his team. For players, coaches, and staff, they'll need a huge, well-deserved break to get over the euphoria, adrenaline and perhaps some mixed feelings about the 2-2. However, the consequence of winning like that is that fans can't get enough of you. Soon after the series ended, questions were being asked on social media about when the Indian men's team would play next. The answer is not straightforward. If you go by the official books, India's next match would be against the UAE on September 10 in the 2025 Asia Cup in the T20 format. They'll then play Pakistan on September 14 and Oman on September 19, hoping to qualify in the top two of their group stage to reach the Super-Four stage. The best two in the latter will then go on to play the final. That means fans will have to wait around five weeks to see some action. However, the team was also supposed to go to Bangladesh this month for a white-ball tour with three ODIs and as many T20Is. However, owing to tensions between the two countries' political regimes, that tour now stands postponed indefinitely. The official reason mentioned by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) was different. 'This decision has been reached following discussions between the two Boards, taking into account the international cricketing commitments and scheduling convenience of both teams," the release read. 'The BCB looks forward to welcoming India in September 2026 for this eagerly anticipated series. Revised dates and fixtures for the tour will be announced in due course," it added. Now, there have been reports claiming that the Bangladesh tour could be replaced by a trip to Sri Lanka. Media in the island nation have also cited 'optimism' that such a tour would go ahead. However, it is yet to be confirmed, and time is running out to arrange all logistics. Get latest Cricket news, live score and match results on News18. Sports car leads convoy in Gurugram social media stunt that disrupts traffic, peace
Traffic was disrupted for several minutes on the road connecting Gurugram's Sector 108 with the Dwarka Expressway on Sunday evening after a convoy of nearly two dozen vehicles, including a Mercedes-Benz SLC convertible, blocked the intersection, allegedly to shoot social media videos, police said on Monday. Two other men are seen recording videos, while other members of the group cheered from adjoining vehicles, some of them standing on footrests and others coming out of the sunroofs. The cars had illegally installed sirens, which were blared continuously, the residents alleged. (HT PHOTO) The disruption near high-rises Shobha City and Experion Heartsong caused significant inconvenience to commuters and residents, officials said. A video of the incident — which shows at least 22 vehicles, including the Mercedes convertible, Toyota Fortuners, Mahindra Thars, Scorpios, and several hatchbacks — surfaced online after a local resident shared it on social media, tagging Gurugram Police and seeking action. In the footage, two men can be seen standing on the seats of the Mercedes with its top down. Two other men are seen recording videos, while other members of the group cheered from adjoining vehicles, some of them standing on footrests and others coming out of the sunroofs. The cars had illegally installed sirens, which were blared continuously, the residents alleged. The Mercedes-Benz SLC seen in the video retails at around ₹80 lakh (ex-showroom) and was reportedly the lead car during the roadblock. One resident of a society located at the intersection, requesting anonymity, said the sound could be heard even from 400 metres away. 'My apartment is at least 150 metres away from the intersection where these men had blocked the road, but the continuous blaring of hooters and sirens for 5-10 minutes annoyed everyone in the area. The cars were driving around erratically for several minutes even after dispersing,' the resident said. After completing the shoot, several vehicles were seen in the video illegal U-turns and fleeing in the wrong direction. While the video has prompted outrage and been acknowledged by police officials, no formal complaint had been registered till the time of going to press. Gurugram police, public relations officer, Sandeep Kumar said that the incident came to their notice through social media platforms on Sunday night. 'The video has been forwarded to the concerned police station. The matter is under investigation,' said Kumar. 'Efforts are being made to identify the suspects with help from CCTV footage in the area. All vehicles involved, including the sports car, will be seized.' Residents urged authorities to take prompt action and install surveillance cameras to deter such stunts in the future. Police said FIR registration is expected soon and assured 'strictest possible action' against those involved.

R Ashwin Lauds 'Miyaan Bhai' After Match-Winning Spell: 'Real Instrument For...'
Last Updated: Ashwin praises Siraj for his transformation and crucial role in India's thrilling win against England. Ace India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has said that one should celebrate Mohammed Siraj on the day and his transformation from believing in ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah to believing in himself and taking India to a series-levelling, thrilling win against England is commendable. Siraj took a match haul of 9/190 to help India bowl the hosts out twice in the game and clinch a thrilling six-run win over England on Monday. Set a record target of 374, England looked poised for a win against India at 339/6 at stumps on the penultimate day. However, India produced a spirited comeback on the final morning, picking up the remaining four wickets to bowl the hosts out for 367 and level the five-match series 2-2. 'What an absolute riveting Test. Full props to India, against all odds, India have come back and levelled the series. I want to say that this game has been topsy-turvy, series has also been topsy-turvy. All things aside, for today, let us celebrate Mohammed Siraj," Ashwin said while speaking on his YouTube channel. 'With 22 (23) wickets, he's the leader of the bowling charts. What made me so happy with what happened with Siraj is that when we won the T20 World Cup, he wore a bib and praised Jasprit Bumrah," Ashwin said. 'But today it wasn't Jassi bhai, but Miyan bhai, who was the real instrument for India to level the series," Ashwin added. The former Indian cricketer further emphasised the importance of Siraj to the Indian bowling attack. Ashwin said that the pacer was getting older and needed to be given breaks in between to lead a transitioning attack in the coming years. 'He's reminding us of what a champion bowler he is, his bowling action and his running technique in his run-up and his nice finish towards the end, his good work ethic is allowing him to play all the Tests of a series, even if it is five Tests. It is time we recognised that," Ashwin said. 'He's getting on in age and it is very important as an Indian team management that we rest him as well from inconsequential matches that we play after this, because he could be your number one Test bowler, go-to Test bowler around which you build the rest of your bowling attack," Ashwin added. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
