Reigning Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen snapped Oscar Piastri's three-race winning streak in the ongoing season by winning the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in Imola, Italy on Sunday. And with his latest triumph, the Dutchman emulated a feat achieved by the legendary Michael Schumacher.
The defending four-time world champion finished the race 6.1 seconds clear of Lando Norris, who beat McLaren teammate and current championship leader Piastri to the second spot. Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton profited from two safety car interventions to finish fourth after starting 12th on the grid while Williams' Alex Albon completed the top five.

Charles Leclerc finished sixth in the second Ferrari ahead of Mercedes' George Russell. Carlos Sainz (Williams), Isack Hadjar (Racing Bulls) and Yuki Tsunoda (Red Bull Racing) finished eighth, ninth and 10th respectively.
Verstappen thus won his second race this year, after triumphing in the Japanese Grand Prix ahead of Norris and Piastri last month, and the 65th of his F1 career that completes a decade this season. His latest win, which lifts him to the third spot in the drivers' standings with 124 points, also comes in Red Bull's 400th Grand Prix race.
Verstappen equals Schumacher's record
In the process, the 27-year-old equalled seven-time world champion Schumacher's feat of 116 podiums for Ferrari during a 10-year run with 'The Prancing Horse' from 1996 to 2006.
While the German F1 legend raced for four different constructors, Verstappen has been part of Red Bull for a majority of his F1 career, having begun his career in the elite division of single-seater racing with Toro Rosso in 2015. All of Verstappen's podium finishes, however, have come in Red Bull's colours.
Only Hamilton has secured more podium finishes for a single constructor (153 for Mercedes) than Schumacher and Verstappen.
'Thank you everyone for a great job today and on Saturday,' said Verstappen said after his victory in Imola. 'It was a great weekend.'
Piastri and Norris too congratulated Verstappen after what is only the second race of the season to not have either McLaren driver standing on top of the podium.

'I braked too early. But it was a great move by Max and then we had a few wrong calls so it was not one of our best Sundays,' Australian racer Piastri, who leads the driver's standings with 146 points, said.
'Congratulations to Max. We couldn't match him this weekend,' added Briton Norris, who's second on the table with 133 points.

Oscar Piastri says Spanish Grand Prix 2025 win was just what he needed
Formula One championship leader Oscar Piastri said winning Sunday's Spanish Grand Prix was just what he needed after losing out to McLaren teammate Lando Norris over the previous two weekends. 'It's been a great year and this weekend's been exactly the kind of weekend I was looking for,' said the Australian after his fifth win in nine races. 'We executed everything we needed to when it counted and that's all you can ask for. The team gave me a great car once again. It's a lot of fun winning races at the moment.' The victory, the seventh of the 24-year-old's career, stretched Piastri's lead over second-placed Norris to 10 points after the Briton reduced it to three with his triumph in Monaco last Sunday. Norris also finished second at Imola, the race before Monaco won by Red Bull's Max Verstappen, with Piastri third. The Australian led from pole position in Spain, the top slot on the grid secured by the biggest margin of the year so far, after also topping the practice times at the Circuit de Catalunya. 'It's definitely up there,' Piastri said when asked whether it was his strongest yet in Formula One. 'I don't know if it's the best one, but certainly it's been a strong one. You know, it's pretty hard to complain with the results we've had this weekend. 'Sky's The Limit' For Frances Tiafoe At French Open
Frances Tiafoe believes the "sky's the limit" for him after reaching the French Open quarter-finals for the first time on Sunday. The American downed German world number 66 Daniel Altmaier 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 (7/4) in the last 16 to set up a match with Lorenzo Musetti for a semi-final place. It will be Tiafoe's first ATP quarter-final since finishing runner-up at a low-key event in Houston in March. "It's been horrible. I've been travelling around, and it hasn't been fun at all," he said. "Kind of faced it. After that it gave me space to just play. You know, when I can play, I can play. This is not really something that's like a shock. "When I'm playing well, I'm there and present and having fun, I think the sky's the limit for me." The 27-year-old, who has reached at least the quarters at the last three US Opens, is yet to drop a set in Paris and is confident he can go even further. "I've been the super dark horse.
