Utah State defeats UNLV 70-58 in Mountain West Conference Tournament quarterfinal

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Ian Martinez had 17 points to lead Utah State to a 70-58 victory over UNLV in a Mountain West Conference Tournament quarterfinal on Thursday night.
The third-seeded Aggies (26-6) will play No. 2 seed Colorado State in a Friday semifinal. No. 1 seed New Mexico plays No. 5 seed Boise State in the other semifinal.
Martinez also had six rebounds for the Aggies. Mason Falslev totaled 15 points, nine rebounds and six assists. Karson Templin scored nine.
The sixth-seeded Rebels (18-15) were led by Jaden Henley, who finished with 19 points and five steals. Jalen Hill added 13 points and seven rebounds. Jailen Bedford had 13 points and three steals.
Utah State took the lead with 19:05 remaining in the first half and did not relinquish it. The score was 36-29 at halftime, with Tucker Anderson racking up nine points.

Associated Press DENVER (AP) — Mike Yastrzemski's two-run double in the eighth inning keyed another San Francisco rally, and the Giants beat the Colorado Rockies 10-7 on Wednesday night for their seventh straight victory. Willy Adames homered and drove in three early runs for the Giants, but they trailed 6-3 entering the eighth before coming back against reliever Tyler Kinley (0-3). Adames, Heliot Ramos and Dominic Smith singled to load the bases with one out, and Casey Schmitt walked to bring in a run. Yastrzemski then lined a double off the right-center wall to tie it. Tyler Fitzgerald laid down a bunt against Zach Agnos, and Schmitt slid around the tag of catcher Hunter Goodman with the go-ahead run. Schmitt was initially ruled out but the call was overturned following a replay review. San Francisco added three insurance runs in the ninth on Wilmer Flores' sacrifice fly, and RBI singles by Schmitt and Yastrzemski. Associated Press INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Bennedict Mathurin scored 27 points off the bench, Tyrese Haliburton added 22 and the Indiana Pacers reclaimed the lead in the NBA Finals by beating the Oklahoma City Thunder 116-107 in Game 3 on Wednesday night. Haliburton also had 11 assists and nine rebounds for the Pacers, who got 21 points from Pascal Siakam and enjoyed a whopping 49-18 edge in bench points. The Pacers, who lost Game 2 in Oklahoma City, improved to 10-0 since mid-March in the game immediately following a loss. "So many different guys chipped in," Haliburton said. Jalen Williams scored 26 points, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander added 24 and Chet Holmgren had 20 for the Thunder, who led by five going into the fourth. Game 4 is back in Indiana on Friday night.
