Summary
When it comes to cinematic photography, Hong Kong-basedWing Shyais in a league of his own. It's a potential that caught the eye of oneWong Kar-waiwho, early on, enlisted him as his stills photographer. Since then, Shya has long been a defining force behind some of the most iconic imagery in contemporary cinema, with a signature that's become synonymous with the atmospheric, emotionally charged and delightfully sensual.
In collaboration with Brighton-based publisherJane & Jeremy, Shya is releasingDay / Night, a new photobook featuring over 100 polaroids taken over the last three decades, weaving together personal snapshots, intimate portraits and rare, behind-the-scenes images from Wong Kar-wai classics, likeHappy TogetherandIn the Mood For Love.
The book unfolds in two separate acts:DayandNight. The first is grounded by the 'spontaneity in life' and a subtle, sunlit energy, while the second delves into more shadowed moods. A marriage of time and tone, together they capture the fleeting, poetic moments of everyday life.
'It all started with my work as a stills photographer on set. It was before everyone had a camera, so the only means of having a snapshot to instantly share had to be polaroids,' Shya described. 'Over the years, they have turned into this collection of 1000's of different instant moments. They might have been candid and lacking intentions, but I personally enjoyed looking at the compilation edited by J&J, which turns out to be a subconscious visual voice that has been speaking to me through my visuals the entire time.'
Day / Nightis now available for purchase via Jane & Jeremy'swebsitefor £60.00 GBP.

Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman Team Up to Buy Professional Sailing Club

Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman have bought a professional sailing club The longtime friends have teamed up to buy Australian-based BONDS Flying Roos SailGP Team Reynolds' purchase comes amid an ongoing legal battle between his wife Blake Lively and Justin BaldoniRyan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman have gone sailing! The longtime friends and actors have teamed up to buy BONDS Flying Roos SailGP Team, an Australian professional sailing club, according to a news release. 'We're incredibly excited to set sail together in this new adventure,' Reynolds, 48, said in a joint statement. 'Hugh brings a deep love for and pride in his home country as well as being an avid fan of sailing. He will also be bringing his overly clingy emotional support human along for the ride. Apologies in advance to Australia.' Founded in 2019 by Sir Russell Coutts and Larry Ellison, SailGP pits 12 national crews in identical 50-foot foiling catamarans. The club is led by driver and CEO Tom Slingsby, the Australian 2012 Olympic gold medalist, who shared his enthusiasm for adding Jackman and Reynolds to the crew. 'This is an incredible milestone for us and for our sport, having global icons Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds come on board as co-owners of our team,' he said. 'They bring unmatched star power, a love for storytelling, and a sharp sense of humour that fits perfectly with our team. With BONDS joining as our Title Partner and the launch of the BONDS Flying Roos, we're building something distinctly Australian; a team driven by spirit, resilience, and national pride.' The BONDS Flying Roos SailGP Team will make its official debut under the new ownership at the Mubadala New York Sail Grand Prix from June 7-8. For Reynolds — who is also the part-owner of two soccer teams — the new endeavor comes amid an ongoing legal battle between his wife Blake Lively and her former co-star Justin Baldoni. In December 2024, Lively filed a sexual-harassment complaint against Baldoni and alleged that he engaged in misconduct during the filming of It Ends with Us. The actress also accused Baldoni and his associates of launching a retaliatory smear campaign meant to "destroy" her reputation, which he has denied. Baldoni countered Lively's initial claim in January with a $400 million lawsuit against her, Reynolds and their publicist Leslie Sloane, alleging extortion, defamation and more. Inside LIA, a New Downtown Restaurant Attempting to Redefine Artful Consumption

Chicago chefs have often explored the connection between the visual and culinary arts through creating plating or decor. LIA, opening today in River North, takes that relationship to a new level, featuring dishes that replicate the art that surrounds the diner. The restaurant will welcome a resident artist; the menu also has a QR code encouraging customers to purchase pieces. For its opening, LIA (which stands for 'life imitates art') will shine a spotlight on Laundry Room Studios. Resident artists aren't new to Chicago restaurants; places like Michelin-starred Esme have found success with the practice. But in River North, among the tourist traps, LIA hopes to carve a niche. The tasting menu tries not to take itself too seriously. A foie gras mousse with cherry gel starts the meal and is called 'I'm Not Super Hungry.' The meal closes with a Nutella tiramisu with an affixed message 'Don't Eat The Art Work,' and mimics a piece of art hung on the wall. Customers aren't bound by the tasting menu. A la carte options include small plates (like white sangria octopus), large plates (like banana leaf monkfish), and 'vegetable stuff' (like caccio de pepe with a red beet reduction). This is the first Chicago project from a metro Detroit-based company, Canvas Hospitality. There, chef Jonas Vaiciunas and co-owner Michael Mauro opened a restaurant called the Jackson, named after Jackson Pollock. The food's presentation, as you might guess, took cues from the artist. In Chicago, the space is designed by Pophouse, which is owned by Jennifer Gilbert. Her husband is billionaire Dan Gilbert. Check out the space, food, and menu below. LIA opens on Thursday, June 5. Co-president of Lionsgate movie studio dies of cancer at 55

Jason Constantine, co-president of the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, died Tuesday at his home in Los Angeles after a long fight with brain cancer. He was 55. Constantine was a Lionsgate veteran, beginning his career more than 25 years ago at its predecessor company Trimark Pictures as a director of acquisitions, the Santa Monica-based firm said. At Lionsgate, he was involved in several of the Santa Monica-based studio's key franchises, including 'John Wick,' and 'Saw,' which he pushed Lionsgate to acquire early on after watching a brief concept short. He was also closely associated with films including best picture Oscar winner 'Crash' (2004), 'Precious' (2009) and 'Knives Out' (2019). 'With his fearless spirit, creative energy and enduring talent relationships, Jason embodied the very best of our studio and our industry,' Lionsgate said in a statement. 'His career was built around the principles that a great idea can come from anywhere, a box office triumph is meant to be shared by an entire team and our creative choices need to be bold and daring.' Constantine is survived by his wife, Kristin, and his sons Lucas, Xander and Nicholas.
