4 hues, 4 concepts: This is what Mahindra's future lineup looks like
Although details about the Vision.T remain scarce, the teaser depicts a tall, muscular design reminiscent of the Thar. The upcoming Freedom_NU event is anticipated to unveil additional concept vehicles and innovations alongside the Vision.T.Mahindra originally showcased the Thar.e concept at its Futurescape event in Cape Town, South Africa, on 15 August 2023. That same event also introduced the OJA global tractor brand and a Scorpio-N-based pickup truck. The Thar.e distinguishes itself as a unique SUV, designed with modular elements that can be swapped or customized, allowing it to transition from a rugged off-roader to a more urban-focused vehicle if desired. Despite its concept-car feel, it retains signature Thar features like squircle-shaped LED DRL headlamps and a vertically slatted front grille reminiscent of the classic Thar design. It's built on the INGLO platform, first revealed last year, but modified specifically for this application as the INGLO P1.Visually, the Thar.e features sharply contoured body panels that give it a futuristic yet capable off-road presence. It boasts large off-road tyres, short overhangs, and pronounced wheel arches, and departs from the current Thar's proportions with a five-door layout. Inside, the cabin takes a minimalist yet functional approach, characterized by straight lines, integrated grab handles, a cleverly placed rotating display, and a clean dashboard design.Still under development, the Thar.e will feature a wheelbase ranging between 2,775mm and 2,975mm. It is expected to deliver ground clearance of 250mm to 300mm, with a front overhang between 640mm and 680mm and a rear overhang ranging from 640mm to 740mm. Although Mahindra has yet to reveal detailed powertrain specifications, the Thar.e is confirmed to come with a dual-motor setup, featuring identical motors at each axle. Further technical details are likely to emerge as the production-ready model approaches its debut.advertisementWhile we have some details of the Vision.T, there's little information on what the next three concepts will be.Vision.S View this post on Instagram A post shared by Mahindra Automotive (@mahindra_auto)Following the reveal of the Vision.T, Mahindra has teased another upcoming model, the Vision.S. The teaser image showcases a bold, upright profile, hinting at a muscular SUV with rugged styling. Although specific details about the Vision.S remain limited, its boxy design suggests it will be another robust addition to Mahindra's expanding lineup. Notably, the teaser shows prominent air intakes on the bonnet, hinting at a performance-focused approach and underlining its off-road-ready appeal. The Vision.S is scheduled to debut alongside the Vision.T and Mahindra's new Freedom NU platform on August 15, 2025.The Vision.S is anticipated to be offered with both internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric vehicle (EV) powertrains, likely built on Mahindra's new flexible platform. The brand's NFA (New Flexible Architecture) platform promises enhanced adaptability and improved performance, though detailed technical specifications remain undisclosed for now.advertisementVision.SXT View this post on Instagram A post shared by Mahindra Automotive (@mahindra_auto)Up next is the Vision.SXT, whose styling leans toward a traditional yet strong aesthetic. The teaser reveals a boxy, muscular shape featuring an upright front end and a clamshell hood, suggesting the rugged character of an SUV. Elements like flared wheel arches and a pronounced skid plate contribute to its tough appearance, while visible bonnet hinges hint at a functional design that may allow the hood to open either upward or forward for convenient access to the engine or battery bay.Interestingly, this design might foreshadow a pickup truck based on the Scorpio-N, combining utility with a striking, purposeful look and potentially expanding Mahindra's growing SUV lineup.Vision.X View this post on Instagram A post shared by Mahindra Automotive (@mahindra_auto)Mahindra's latest teaser, unveiled yesterday, introduces the Vision.X , a departure from the rugged, large-format concepts like the Vision.T, Vision.S, and Vision.SXT. The Vision.X appears to take a more compact, city-friendly direction, likely targeting urban families. The teaser suggests a sleek, contemporary design, indicating that it could be a hybrid or electric version of the XUV 3XO, or perhaps an all-new model positioned below Mahindra's larger SUVs. The Vision.X, shown in grey, completes the Freedom_NU platform's teaser palette, which previously featured white, yellow, and orange associated with other concepts.advertisementThe Vision.X, along with its sibling concepts, represents Mahindra's expanding vision for the future , spanning both traditional and electric SUV offerings. With urban buyers showing increasing interest in smart, sustainable vehicles, the Vision.X could signal Mahindra's entry into the high-demand compact and midsize SUV segments. All attention now turns to August 15, when Mahindra will officially unveil the Vision.X, the full Vision lineup, and the new Freedom_NU platform, a pivotal moment in the brand's move toward electrification and next-gen SUVs.Stay tuned to Auto Today for all the updates.Subscribe to Auto Today Magazine- EndsTrending Reel

India committed to supporting Maldivian people: PM Modi
New Delhi: India-Maldives relations continue to grow through cooperation in different sectors and New Delhi is committed to supporting the aspirations of the Maldivian people, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday after participating in the Indian Ocean nation's Independence Day celebrations as the guest of honour. Prime Minister Narendra Modi with Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu. (AFP) Modi joined President Mohamed Muizzu for the Independence Day parade at Republic Square in Male. The celebrations included a parade by the Maldivian National Defence Forces and other local organisations, along with cultural performances by local artists and school children that highlighted the achievements of the Maldives. 'India and the Maldives share a deep-rooted partnership built on mutual respect, shared values and a long history of cultural and economic exchanges. Our relationship continues to grow, shaped by people-to-people ties and cooperation in various sectors,' Modi said on social media. 'India remains committed to supporting the aspirations of the Maldivian people and to working together for the betterment of our planet.' The celebrations came a day after Modi held wide-ranging talks with Muizzu and India announced new measures to bolster the economy of the Maldives, including a rupee-denominated credit line of $565 million and a 40% cut in annual debt repayment obligations. The two sides also agreed to launch negotiations for a free trade agreement (FTA) and to deepen defence and maritime security cooperation. Modi's visit, the first by a foreign head of government since Muizzu came to power in November 2023, marked a significant turnaround in bilateral ties after a bumpy stretch over the past year. Muizzu, who came to power on an 'India Out' campaign, had demanded the withdrawal of more than 80 Indian defence personnel deployed to the Maldives to operate three aircraft and sought to move Male closer to Beijing. There was a thaw in relations after Muizzu was invited to Modi's swearing-in for his third term as PM last June and India continued economic assistance to help the Indian Ocean archipelago to cope with a balance of payments crisis at a time when such assistance wasn't forthcoming from China. Modi said it was an honour for him to join the 60th Independence Day celebrations of the Maldives. 'This momentous occasion showcased the rich cultural heritage and vibrant spirit of the Maldivian people…From its ancient maritime traditions to global leadership in critical areas like climate change, the Maldives has carved a unique place for itself on the world stage,' he said on social media. He also thanked Muizzu and the government of the Maldives as he concluded what he said was a 'productive visit'. Modi said his 'productive talks' with Muizzu will add significant energy to bilateral relations. Earlier in the day, Modi held separate meetings with former president Mohamed Nasheed, Abdul Raheem Abdulla, Speaker of the Maldivian Parliament, and vice president Hussain Mohamed Latheef and reiterated India's support for the development of the Maldives. He also met members of different political parties of the Maldives. Modi told Nasheed, whom he described as a strong advocate of deeper bilateral friendship, that the Maldives will always be a 'valued pillar of our Neighbourhood First policy and Mahasagar vision'. India will keep supporting Maldives through capacity building and developmental cooperation, he said. He and Abdulla discussed the close relationship between the parliaments of the two countries. Modi said the formation of the India-Maldives Parliamentary Friendship Group is a welcome step. Modi and Latheef discussed key pillars of bilateral ties. 'Our nations continue to work closely in sectors like infrastructure, technology, climate change, energy and more…We look forward to deepening this partnership in the years to come,' Modi said. Modi also interacted with the Indian community in the Maldives. 'It is commendable how they are contributing to Maldives' progress and at the same time remain connected to their roots in India,' he said.
