Cristiano Ronaldo has signed a new two-year contract with Al-Nassr to extend his stay with the Saudi Pro League club.
Last month, the Portuguese sparked rumours that he could leave the Riyadh-based outfit when he posted a cryptic social media message, which began with the words 'this chapter is over'.
The post came at the end of another trophyless season at the club he joined from Manchester United in December 2022 and helped fuel bizarre rumours, further fanned by FIFA, that he could make a switch to a side competing in the Club World Cup.
However, following Portugal's Nations League win, the 40-year-old revealed that he would be returning to Al-Nassr for this coming season.
On Thursday, the striker and the club confirmed the decision, with Ronaldo posting on X: 'A new chapter begins. Same passion, same dream. Let's make history together.'
The five-time Ballon d'Or winner will be desperate to claim his domestic title with the side while maintaining his impressive output.

Ronaldo scored 35 goals in 41 matches in all competitions last term and was the Saudi Pro League's top scorer for the second season running.
In all, he has netted 99 times in 111 appearances for Al-Nassr and is inching closer to his dream of reaching 1,000 senior career goals. His current tally stands at 938.
Confirmation of Ronaldo's new deal - reported to be worth £167million per year - comes a day after it was announced that head coach Stefano Pioli will leave the club.
Pioli becomes the fourth coach to depart the Saudi Pro League side since Ronaldo joined them in 2023.
He follows Rudi Garcia, Dinko Jelicic and Luís Castro in having headed for the exit door since Ronaldo's arrival in January 2023.
Taking to X, Ronaldo wrote: 'Grazie per tutto', which translates into English as 'thank you for everything'.

BREAKING NEWS Ex-Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker suspended by NFL

Justin Tucker will reportedly be suspended for the first 10 weeks of the NFL regular season for violating the league's personal conduct policy. Tucker has been embroiled in a sexual misconduct scandal involving several massage therapists in the Baltimore area, leading to his release from the Baltimore Ravens last month. Tucker had been viewed as one of the NFL's best kickers before his off-the-field trouble began. Now, his prospects of being signed have dwindled even further for the 35-year-old due to the hefty suspension, per the Washington Post. Earlier this year, the married football player was accused of sexual misconduct by 16 massage therapists from across eight spas and wellness centers in the Baltimore area. Tucker has denied any wrongdoing and previously branded the accusations 'shocking and heart-breaking'. But on May 5, the Ravens made the 'tough decision' to release him. Speaking for the first time since the release, head coach Harbaugh maintained Wednesday that the move was a 'football decision' last month. 'I mean, you're talking about arguably the best kicker in the history of the game,' Harbaugh said, via ESPN. 'And like we said, it's multi-layered [and] it's complicated. But in the end, it all comes back to what you have to do to get ready for your team to play the first game.' 'And I think if you step back and you take a look at all the issues and all the ramifications, you can understand that we've got to get our football team ready and we've got to have a kicker to go. And that was the move that we decided to make. So in that sense, it's a football decision and now we have to spend all of our focus and our time to get these kickers ready.' 'We've got a competition going on and [we've got to] get these guys ready to make kicks. So that's all I'm thinking about. From my perspective, it's like, "We have to have a kicker out there making kicks and what's the best way to get that done?"' In a statement announcing Tucker's release, Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta made no mention of the allegations, instead heaping praise on Tucker, a Super Bowl champion who had been with the Ravens since 2012. DeCosta's comments came under intense scrutiny. Among the allegations leveled against Tucker are that he repeatedly - and deliberately - exposed his erect genitals. Two therapists claim he brushed them with his penis. More than once, meanwhile, the kicker is accused of leaving what appeared to be ejaculate on the massage table. Back in February, it was reported that NFL investigators visited Baltimore to interview therapists who had made the bombshell claims about the Ravens kicker. Around the same time, DeCosta called the allegations 'serious and concerning' and refused to rule out terminating Tucker's contract.

Andy Carroll and Lou Teasdale 'spark fears their relationship won't last as friends dismiss it as holiday romance' - after footballer was questioned by Greek police over holiday bust-ups

Friends of Andy Carroll and Lou Teasdale are reportedly predicting the couple's romance won't last upon their arrival in the UK, after the footballer announced he was moving back to England. The former England star, 36, made a major decision last week about his football career and family, announcing he has left his club in Bordeaux after one season to 'return home' to be closer to his children. But it has been reported that those close to him are fearful that the move will cause his relationship with Lou, 41, to fall apart. The couple haven't hesitated to flaunt their romance on social media, share a slew of loved-up snaps together from their recent sun-soaked getaways to Ibiza and Greece. However, according to The Sun, their friends think it is just a 'holiday romance' and that their differences will become too obvious to ignore when they return home and are faced with 'reality'. A source told the publication: 'There are genuine fears that Andy and Lou won't last when they return to the UK. 'Their relationship has effectively been a big holiday romance, and they are going to be seriously tested when returning to reality. 'Andy has clearly made it his priority to be closer to his children. While that is admirable, things might not be the same for him and fun-loving Lou back in the UK.' Andy shares children Arlo, eight, Wolf, five, and Marvel Mae with estranged wife Billi Mucklow and Emilie Rose, 15, and Lucas, 14, from a past relationship - all of five of whom Billi has been raising back home. The insider said that Lou's influencer job and love of travelling means she's always on the move, meaning her lifestyle would be at odds with Andy home life and claiming the chances of the relationship working at home were 'very much up in the air'. It comes just days after Andy was reportedly questioned twice by Greek police over a series of bust-ups with Lou, during their holiday in Mykonos this month. According to the Sun on Sunday, the athlete and the make-up artist had several disagreements at a restaurant and at their hotel. Speaking about the first incident between the couple, a worker at the Nikolus Tavern told the Sun: 'He seemed very drunk and furious with his partner. 'He was using very bad words. It was improper behaviour. The woman looked very upset.' According to the restaurant worker, police arrived and took the ex-Liverpool, Newcastle United and England striker aside for a chat, before he was later allowed back to girlfriend Lou. 'Police spoke to him. He was allowed to return, and the couple left after paying for their meal. Andy was very calm when the police arrived — he stood up and spoke to them outside the restaurant', the restaurant worker added. Just hours later, cops were called again by hotel staff following reports of damage in their room. MailOnline understands that the former England forward - once Britain's most expensive Premier League footballer when bought by Liverpool from Newcastle for £35million - was taken to the police station for questioning, but he was not arrested and no further action was taken. The incident was confirmed by a hotel employee, who claimed Andy broke the door. That night, Lou left the hotel and spent the night at Soho Roc House. A joint statement from the couple given to The Sun said: 'Whilst having a private dinner in a restaurant on a quiet holiday in Mykonos, we had a heated discussion of the sort that most couples have had on occasion. 'It quickly became apparent to the police that there was no reason for them to be there. 'We went outside the restaurant with them together as they insisted they wanted to 'look after' us. They then explained that 'no one was arrested or charged' and they are 'happy, in love and looking forward to their future'. It comes only a month after rumours that Andy is planning to propose to the former One Direction hair stylist once his divorce from ex-TOWIE star Billi was finalised. A source told The Sun: 'Lou is already telling her mates they have discussed marriage and Andy thinks he's met his soulmate. 'Their connection is so strong, he has never felt like this before, he definitely wants to put a ring on it. It's been a whirlwind romance for both of them. But they're playing for keeps.' Another friend of the loved-up couple told the publication: 'Andy is very close to proposing to Lou. They are madly in love. 'She is spending as much time as she can with him in France and Andy has never been happier. 'Lou is exactly what he needs because she is a calming influence on him and it's noticeable the change she's had on him to everyone around them. He's been telling friends his divorce can't come quick enough.' Andy and Lou revealed their relationship just weeks after the former Liverpool striker and his TOWIE star ex Billi confirmed their split last September after secretly separating earlier in the year. Andy and Billi called it quits after 11 years together and less than two years after tying the knot. In 2022, their wedding was almost called off when Andy was pictured drunkenly passed out in bed with two women in Dubai on his stag do, but Billi forgave him after one of the women insisted nothing sexual happened. But last year, Andy confirmed the marriage was over and that they had started divorce proceedings after 'a hard few months for our family'. He said in a statement at the time: 'Billi and I have privately separated earlier this year and we are under way with our divorce proceedings'. 'It has been a hard few months for our family and we continue to move forward amicably for our children.'
