Winger Kyle Rowe scored the first try of the match only two minutes after the kickoff and New Zealand-born flyhalf Fergus Burke converted for a 7-0 lead. Fiji which lost 21-18 to Australia last weekend narrowed the lead with a penalty to flyhalf Caleb Muntz in the 20th minute then took its first lead at 8-7 with Ikanivere's try. Kalaveti Ravouvou sawed through the Scotland defense to score in the 39th minute and Fiji took a 15-7 lead to halftime.
Scotland opened the second half with a slick try to center Tom Jordan converted by Burke which cut the lead to a point at 15-14. Fiji replied with a superb try to the Toulon winger and Olympic sevens gold medalist Jiuta Wainiqolo to increase its lead to 22-14 before the penalty try sealed its win. The win was Fiji's second over Scotland in five official tests and adds evidence that Fiji deserves to be included among the top 12 nations in world rugby in next year's inaugural Nations Cup. Scotland was playing the second match on its tour of the Pacific and will take on Samoa in Apia on Friday. Last weekend Scotland beat New Zealand Māori 29-26 at Whangārei New Zealand.

Shamar Joseph and Alzarri Joseph bowled with pace and vintage West Indies intent in the night session Sunday as Australia struggled to 99 for six in its second innings–an overall lead of 181 in the third cricket test. The pace bowlers dominated on Day 2 at Sabina Park when 15 wickets fell across both teams. Cameron Green was unbeaten on 42 and Australian skipper Pat Cummins was five not out at stumps after a torrid 40-minute stand that netted 30 runs. Australia had a 2-0 lead going into the last test of the series after wins in Barbados and Grenada and took an 82-run first-innings lead after bowling West Indies out for 143 by the dinner break on Sunday. But that meant having to bat under lights again in a day-night match that seems destined to finish inside three days. The Australians took nine wickets in two sessions after West Indies resumed at 16-1 on Sunday and lost their last seven wickets for 70 runs chasing Australia's first innings of 225. John Campbell led the West Indies scoring with 36 and Shai Hope (23) was the only other Caribbean batter to reach the 20s as Australia's five-pronged pace attack kept the home team under constant pressure. Scott Boland selected at the expense of veteran spinner Nathan Lyon removed both Campbell and Hope completed a run-out of allrounder Justin Greaves and took the final wicket to finish with figures of 3-34. Cummins and Josh Hazlewood took two wickets apiece and Mitchell Starc playing his 100th test match returned 1-32 from 13 overs. The Australians lost quick wickets in the night conditions on Day 1 and it started badly for the tourists again in the second innings when 19-year-old opener Sam Konstas fell to Shamar Joseph (2-26) for the third time in the series getting a thick outside edge to gully and departing for a duck in the second over. He has scored just 50 runs in six innings in the series. Usman Khawaja (14) pulled Shamar Joseph for a boundary to take Australia's lead past 100 but dragged onto his stumps two balls later when the West Indies paceman angled a ball back in from around the wicket. Steve Smith (5) edged Alzarri Joseph's third ball of the day between second and third slip for a boundary and then was rattled by a short sharp bouncer in the same over. Alzarri Joseph (3-19) was bowling at speeds up to 147 kph (91 mph) mixing bouncers with a good length and it was a slightly fuller ball that took out Smith's off stump as Australia slipped to 28-3. Green continued with Travis Head (16) Beau Webster (13) and Alex Carey (0) until Australia slumped to 69-6 with the tailenders exposed. Carey who was hit on the helmet on the first delivery he faced tried to advance down the pitch against Alzarri Joseph two balls later and only succeeded in edging to first slip. Cummins hadn't scored before he brushed a ball behind off the gloves but was given not out. TV replays showed he would have been given out if the West Indies had reviewed the on-field decision. Cummins narrowly avoided a run-out when he was sent back by Greene to the non-striker's end with the total on 80-6 but he survived to get his team to stumps.

Shane Van Gisbergen dominates on another road course, wins at Sonoma to extend streak
SONOMA, Calif. – Shane van Gisbergen extended his winning streak to two straight and three victories in the last five weeks with yet another dominating run on a road course. The New Zealander once again showed he's in a completely different class on road and street courses than his rivals as he led 97 of 110 laps Sunday to win from pole at Sonoma Raceway. All three of his wins this year have been from pole – which tied him with Jeff Gordon for a NASCAR record of three consecutive road course victories from the top starting spot. Gordon did it between the 1998 and 1999 seasons. Victory number four for van Gisbergen – who stunned NASCAR in 2023 when he popped into the debut Chicago street course race from Australian V8 Supercars and won – seemed a given before teams even arrived at the picturesque course in California wine country. His rivals have lamented that SVG has a unique braking technique he mastered Down Under that none of them – all oval specialists – can ever learn. That win in Chicago two years ago led van Gisbergen to move to the United States for a career change driving stock cars for Trackhouse Racing. He and Ross Chastain have pumped energy into the team over this summer stretch with Chastain kicking it off with a Memorial Day weekend victory at the Coca-Cola 600. Van Gisbergen is the fastest driver to win four Cup Series races since Parnelli Jones in 1969. The Sonoma win made it four victories for Trackhouse in eight weeks. Van Gisbergen was second from pole in Saturday's Xfinity Series race. Although he dominated again Sunday, van Gisbergen pitted from the lead with 27 laps remaining and then had to drive his way back to the front. He got it with a pass of Michael McDowell with 19 laps remaining, but two late cautions made van Gisbergen win restarts to close out the victory in his Chevrolet. Chase Briscoe was second in a Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing and was followed by Chase Elliott in a Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports. McDowell in a Chevy for Spire Motorsports was fourth and Christopher Bell in a Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing was fifth. In-Season challenge The mid-season tournament that pays 1 million to the winner is down to four drivers. Alex Bowman finished 25th and eliminated Ty Dillon who finished 26th. Tyler Reddick (11th) knocked out Ryan Preece (16th) John Hunter Nemecheck knocked out teammate Erik Jones as they finished 21st and 22nd and Zane Smith with a seventh-place finish eliminated Ty Gibbs. Bowman at eighth is the highest-seeded driver still in the challenge which debuted this year. Crew fight NASCAR officials had to separate the crews for Brad Keselowski and Ty Gibbs when members from the two teams scrapped on pit road during the race. Keselowski's crew confronted Gibbs' crew after Gibbs drove through their pit stall and narrowly missed hitting some of Keselowski's crew members already in place waiting for him. The confrontation appeared to be contained to pushing and shoving and NASCAR quickly stepped between them. Both crews were given an official warning for fighting but NASCAR said Gibbs did nothing wrong. Clean race – for awhile It took 61 of the 110 laps for the first caution for an on-track incident – when Ryan Blaney was knocked off the course and into the dirt early in the third stage. The contact from Chris Buescher left Blaney stranded and right before NASCAR could throw the yellow, Bubba Wallace and Denny Hamlin both spun. It was technically the third caution of the race but the first two were for natural stage breaks. The race ended with six cautions – two in the final stretch. Up next The Cup Series races Sunday at Dover Motor Speedway in Delaware where Denny Hamlin won last year.

Semien's 250th career homer highlights rangers' 5-1 victory over al west-leading astros
Marcus Semien hit his 250th career home run, and Adolis García also homered to back a strong start by Nathan Eovaldi and give the Texas Rangers a 5-1 series-clinching victory over the Houston Astros on Sunday. Wyatt Langford walked to open the second, and the Rangers made it 1-0 when he scored on a triple by Evan Carter. There were two outs in the inning when Carter scored on a ground-rule double by Ezequiel Duran to push the lead to 2-0. García's third homer in the last four games put Texas ahead 3-0 with two outs in the third inning. Carter doubled to start the fourth, and Kyle Higashioka singled before Carter scored on a sacrifice fly by Alejandro Osuna to make it 4-0. The Astros cut it to 4-1 on a home run by Zack Short with no outs in the sixth inning. Semien's shot with one out in the eighth inning was his second of the series and gave him 250 in his 13-year career. Key moment–Texas jumping on Brown for two runs in the second inning to take the lead for good. Key stat–García's 20 home runs against the Astros since 2021 are the most of any player in that span.
