'Go on, Bobby!': Primal Scream leave Aviva Studios bouncing
Rock 'n' Roll royalty Primal Scream returned to Manchester in glorious fashion - leaving Aviva Studios pumping.
Bobby Gillespie's troupe brought their latest tour to the city in support of the band's mere 12th studio album Come Ahead - released towards the end of 2024.
Punters certainly got value for their money with two quality support acts - in the shape of Mozart Estate and Baxter Dury.

The grey-suited Dury - son of Blockheads great Ian - delivered a definitive warm-up set filled with angst, some wonderful flailing of limbs and more than a fair share of synth.
Gnashers bared, the frontman, drinking from bottle of Stella, did all he could do to relieve himself of the aforementioned grey jacket as he declared his love of Manchester, while repeatedly referring to himself as 'delicious f**king me'.
Highlights included I'm Not Your Dog, Miami and (Baxter) These Are My Friends. You'll be hard-pressed to find a better support with the crowd fully uninhibited dancing away, they were more than ready for their main event.
Ascending on to the stage soundtracked to What The World Needs Now is Love, Bobby Gillespie and co took Primal Scream's devotees through the impressive back catalogue of the Glasgow group formed back in 1982.
More recent offerings Medication and Innocent Money were received well with the band's enigmatic lead receiving regular cries of 'go on Bobby' and 'come on Bobby' from the enthused masses.
Throughout the near two-hour set there were nods to political activism and greater emphasises lingering on Primal Scream's choice of walk-on entrance music, mentioned earlier on.
Gillespie, 62, was looking sharp in a white cocktail suit jacket as his vocals echoed around the roomy hall while the eight-piece on-stage wowed - bassiet Simone Butler notably doing great work. At one point, Gillespie described the music business as 'strange'.
Two thirds in, the singer informed Primal Scream's adoring fans that the evening was diverting from art rock to pure rock 'n' roll. An enviable greatest hits run came which, in-turn, further lifted the levels of those in attendance.
Ahead of closer, Country Girl, someone down the front seemed to catch Gillespie's attention with him politely requesting 'please stop trying to distract me'. Accompanying this interaction were a few peace symbols and kisses to the slightly over-zealous supporter.
The three-song encore of Melancholy Man, Come Together featuring a snippet of Suspicious Minds, and Rocks brought a wonderful night at Aviva Studios to a close. The latter two became high decibel singalongs.
Before taking their bow, Gillespie said: 'You've been beautiful, Manchester.'
Prior to leaving, many headed to the merch stall for a souvenir. An eye-catching item was a signed Fender guitar themed around Primal Scream's iconic Screamadelica record released in 1991. Although, at £2,000 those interested in purchasing were presumably loaded.

Bethenny Frankel fires back at Joy Behar over remarks on 'The View,' calls co-host 'miserable'
Former "Real Housewives of New York" star Bethenny Frankel fired back at "The View" co-host Joy Behar on Sunday, calling Behar "miserable" over comments she made during the ABC daytime talk show on Wednesday about Frankel's appearance. "So, Joy Behar took a swipe at me on 'The View.' Whoopi [Goldberg] mentioned that I was talking about the show, saying that none of us looked the way that we looked two hours prior. It took a lot of work and glam teams," Frankel said in a video posted to her TikTok on Sunday, explaining "The View" segment discussing her recent participation in a fashion show. Frankel, 54, walked the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit runway last week and said after the Miami event that the women went through a lengthy glam process before hitting the runway. The co-hosts of "The View" played a clip of Frankel's comments during the show on Wednesday, to which Behar reacted, "I appreciate her candor, but her boobs are still fake." "These are a lift, from like 20 years ago, maybe 15, 20 years ago," Frankel said, responding to Behar's comments. "This is actually a lift, Joy. But, the thing that that show really illustrated was that women my age and older, women of a certain age, can live their lives freely with happiness and joy. And that we're not washed-up, miserable older women." "I actually feel sorry for Joy that she hasn't lived her life, or doesn't seem to be living her life, with any joy," Frankel said. "You have to be really miserable to take a swipe at something that is literally self-deprecating." Frankel accused Behar of kicking a person while they're down, and pointed out that she made the original comments to explain that a lot of work went into the swimsuit models' runway appearances. "Sadly, Joy is painting the picture of the older, seemingly miserable, washed-up woman that all of us are trying to show that we aren't," she added. "You keep being happy, you keep living your life, you keep being the example of a woman of a certain age that you would be proud of, and we have women like Joy Behar that remind us of who we don't want to be." Behar's comments during "The View" were met with laughter from the audience and fellow co-hosts. Frankel said in her original video, "Every woman that was with me on that stage did not look that way two hours prior, okay, it was everybody's job, and that's what goes on in Hollywood and the entertainment industry and the images that you and your daughters see of women of Kim Kardashian, of Beyoncé, of J-Lo, of every famous person, that there is a lot of work that goes into that, a lot of glam, a lot of contouring, a lot of lighting, a lot." A representative from "The View" did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The co-hosts also discussed a clip of Cheryl Burke, who used to be a dancer on "Dancing With The Stars," during which she dismisses rumors about having undergone plastic surgery, taking weight-loss medication, and whether she's faced any health issues. Co-host Sara Haines said during the discussion, "I think all we know now that, from airbrushing magazines, to filters on social media, to a two-hour prep to go down a runway, like, of course, no one wakes up that." Behar quipped, "That's not true, I wake up exactly like this."

Diddy Trial Highlights From 19th Day of Testimony
Diddy's ex-girlfriend had a lot more to say about their relationship Monday on the 19th day of witness testimony in his criminal trial ... telling the jury about a violent exchange, and recalling the moment Diddy found out the Cassie beating video had been published. The day began with the judge delaying a decision on Diddy's defense motion for a mistrial ... the decision will come down Tuesday morning, after prosecutors submit their response. This is all in relation to some prior testimony from Cassie and a friend about an alleged incident where Diddy held the friend over a balcony at Cassie's home. "Jane" was back on the stand for more testimony, answering questions from prosecutor Maurene Comey ... telling jurors about a violent incident at her home. She testified Diddy came over on June 18, 2024 and they argued about a recent trip he took to Utah ... with Jane telling jurors she confronted Diddy about possibly bringing another woman with him. She said the woman was between 18 and 21 years old and said she called Diddy a "pedophile" due to the age gap. Jane said the dispute escalated to physical violence and told jurors Diddy chased her through the home, breaking down locked doors ... until she escaped down the street and hid outside for 2 hours. She said she returned home but he was there and the violence continued. In her testimony, Jane said she was with Diddy at his home on Star Island in Miami in May 2024 when the Cassie beating video first aired on CNN ... and she said he huddled with family and his team and made some drafts of his apology response. Jane told jurors she would keep getting back with Diddy after violence and unwanted sexual encounters with other men because she missed him and loved him ... and it will be interesting to see what she says Tuesday under cross-examination.
