Stanley made a dream start, taking the lead after 37 seconds. A long throw by Freddie Sass into a crowd of bodies was pushed out by goalkeeper Vicente Reyes but only to Alex Henderson who blasted the ball low into the net.
The Reds grabbed a second in the 25th minute when Henderson's cross was tapped over the line at the near post by Kelsey Mooney.
Posh dominated possession but struggled to test home keeper Ollie Wright with their best chance of the first half – a Harley Mills free-kick which was narrowly wide.
After the restart, Stanley's Farrend Rawson could have made it three but sent his header straight at Reyes.
In the 54th minute, Gustav Lindgren forced the first save out of Wright, with the keeper diving low to keep out his effort.
Posh got one back after 79 minutes when Archie Collins headed home a Cain Hayes cross, but it was Stanley who threatened in eight minutes of added time, with Josh Woods almost adding a third.

August 17 - Austin Hays singled in TJ Friedl in the bottom of the 10th inning as the host Cincinnati Reds snapped the Milwaukee Brewers' franchise-record 14-game win streak with a 3-2 win Sunday. Spencer Steer bunted Friedl over to third to start the 10th. Milwaukee intentionally walked Elly De La Cruz and Will Benson before Hays drove the game-winner down the left-field line. William Contreras hit a two-run home run in the top of the ninth inning off Reds closer Emilio Pagan to give the Brewers a 2-1 lead. The Reds, who remain the only team in the major leagues not to be swept this season, scored a run in the bottom of the ninth to force extra innings. The Brewers committed a rare error to start the ninth when Joey Ortiz bobbled pinch-hitter Will Benson's grounder to short. Noevi Marte singled Benson to right with one out and Jose Trevino drove him in with a single to right to tie the game and send the teams into extra innings for the second straight game. Graham Ashcraft (7-4) pitched a scoreless 10th for the win. Grant Anderson (2-4) blew the save in the ninth and then took the loss in the 10th. Cincinnati starter Andrew Abbott has not won since beating the Miami Marlins July 9, despite having the second lowest ERA (2.41) in the National League heading into Sunday. The 26-year-old All-Star dazzled for seven innings against Milwaukee, allowing four hits, no runs, no walks and striking out seven on 92 pitches. Milwaukee starter Jose Quintana went 6 1/3 innings, allowing five hits and one run. The southpaw struck out four and didn't give up a walk on 98 pitches. Quintana and Abbott traded scoreless innings through six before the Reds finally broke through in the seventh. Hays led off with a double into the left-field corner. Marte singled to right, but Hays held up at third to put runners on the corners with no outs. Reds DFA Jake Fraley, recall fellow OF Will Benson
August 17 - The Cincinnati Reds designated outfielder Jake Fraley for assignment prior to Sunday's game against the visiting Milwaukee Brewers. Cincinnati recalled outfielder Will Benson from Triple-A Louisville in a corresponding move. Fraley, 30, was batting .232 with six homers and 23 RBIs in 67 games this season. Fraley hyperextended a knee during Saturday's game against the Brewers but was cleared medically Sunday prior to the transaction. Fraley was in his fourth season with the Reds. He batted .260 with 38 homers and 142 RBIs in 362 games with Cincinnati. "I don't really think there's ever an easy one, regardless of how guys are, because you're making decisions that alter their lives, and it's a big deal and we take it that way," Reds manager Terry Francona said. "Not that I need an excuse to lose sleep last night, but you do think about it the whole time. I think the day when I stop thinking about it, I'll re-retire." Overall, Fraley has a .247 career average with 47 homers and 179 RBIs in 459 big league games with the Seattle Mariners (2019-21) and Reds. Benson, 27, is batting .224 with nine homers and 32 RBIs in 61 games with Cincinnati this season. He has 34 homers, 106 RBIs and a .226 average in 325 games over the past three seasons with the Reds. Cincinnati also recalled right-hander Connor Phillips from Triple-A Louisville and optioned left-hander Joe La Sorsa to the same affiliate. Phillips, 24, was 1-0 with a 7.20 ERA in four relief appearances for the Reds earlier this season. La Sorsa, 27, is 0-1 with a 10.80 ERA in five appearances for Cincinnati. --Field Level Media

Nottingham Forest is ‘perfect place to be' – new signing Omari Hutchinson
Nuno Espirito Santo secured his fifth and sixth signings of the summer transfer window on Saturday after both Hutchinson and James McAtee committed to long-term contracts at the City Ground. Hutchinson was part of the side that won the European Championship with the England Under-21 side this summer and he will be reunited with fellow winning team-mates McAtee and Elliot Anderson in Nottingham. I get a message from him (Anderson) and he's telling me to come and I said, 'Listen, I'll try my best', but yeah, he convinced me to come.' England Under-21 captain McAtee enjoyed a couple of loan spells away from Manchester City with Sheffield United but has decided to make a permanent switch to Forest for a fee believed to be around £30million and like Hutchinson, he also signed a deal till 2030. The 22-year-old made 27 appearances for City in all competitions last campaign and thought now was the right time for a new challenge. He said: 'I think I'm ready for a new challenge. I'll try and get some more game time and try and show the world what I can do. 'I can't wait (for the Europa League). It's something that I'm looking forward to and I'm excited to play in there.'
