Samsung gives away free Galaxy tablets worth £259 in summer sale
Brits can bag a free Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ when picking up a Galaxy S25 as the tech giant kicks off its summer upgrade offer
Samsung is giving away free Galaxy tablets to Brits who upgrade their phone this month. The deal is available when shopping with Currys-owned retailer Mobiles.uk, which is also sweetening the deal with its own giveaway.
For a limited time, shoppers purchasing a Samsung Galaxy S25 can claim a free Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ worth £259, all of which costs £24.99 per month. The 24-month contract – with Three-backed iD Mobile – also comes with five times more data than usual, with 500GB for the price of 100GB.
There is a £59 up-front cost, but customers can also redeem a six-month trial of Google One AI Premium, which would usually set users back £113.94. The retailer has not set an end date for the deal, only confirming it's live 'for a limited time' and 'while stock lasts'.
Shoppers can claim their free tablet on the Samsung website after purchase, however, the tech giant will only accept claims on purchases made by June 26. iD Mobile is one of many mobile networks which increases its prices each year as inflation rises, with this plan costing £26.49 from April 2026.
Even with the increase, the total cost of the plan comes to £679.76 over the 24-month term. This is cheaper than buying the phone from Samsung and Amazon, which offer the same model for £799 and £699 respectively.
The free tablet is also available at other retailers including Sky Mobile, which comes with no upfront cost but at £30 is more each month. The Galaxy Tab A9+ hit the shelves in 2023 and boasts an 11' screen with 1920x1200 resolution.
The Android device has 128GB storage, four Dolby Atmos speakers, a 10-hour battery life and is slim at 6.9mm thin. The free tablet is also available with Mobiles.co.uk orders of the Galaxy S25+ and Galaxy S25 Ultra.
The retailer has achieved a 4.3-star rating from shoppers, many of whom have praised their 'quick and easy' experience. One five-star review says: 'Great service, delivery on time. Wouldn't hesitate to use again.'
Another says: 'Really quick and easy experience with Mobiles.co.uk. This is the second phone I've purchased through this company and it has been stream line. Kept informed throughout, quick delivery and by far the cheapest site I found.'
A third says: 'Easy transition from my previous provider on the day I requested. I kept my number using PAC code. Cheaper with better benefits so really happy. App seems good too and gives me the info I need easily.'
However, this three-star reviewer had a mixed experience, as they said: 'Requested my number to be changed which never did and had to phone iD Mobile to put in a new request. Rest of the service was good.'

EU country paying the highest pension and it's £8,000 more than the UK
Dreaming of retiring already? A stunning country just a couple of hours from the UK has one of the highest paying pensions in Europe - but there are several big catches Million of Brits could see a huge boost to their retirement, after HM Treasury unveiled plans to double the number of UK pension megafunds by 2030. As previously explained, this is where smaller local authorities and private workplaces come together, with the aim that bundling larger funds will result in a much greater return. The government states these changes will 'drive more investment directly into the UK economy for new homes and promising scale-up businesses'. "With over £50 billion secured through the recent voluntary commitment from pension funds to invest five percent of assets in the UK and new local investment targets for Local Government Pension Scheme authorities," HM Treasury added. "This tackles the gradual decline in domestic investment from UK pension funds, where around 20 per cent of Defined Contribution assets are currently invested compared to over 50 per cent in 2012." For now, Brits on the State Pension will receive just £230.25 a week (£11,973 per year) as long as they have enough qualifying years of National Insurance (NI). If your NI record started after April 2016, you will need 35 qualifying years to get the full rate of the New State Pension. But in comparison to nearby countries, the UK's state pension seems mediocre at best. According to the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) - as of 2022 - the full basic pension in Iceland is valued at ISK 3,439,428, equivalent to 31 per cent of average worker earnings. This roughly converts to £20,063.08 per year - more than £8,000 compared to the UK state pension. "There is an annual allowance of ISK 300,000 (£1,751.11) for exempt income, equivalent to three per cent of average earnings," OECD added. "Above this allowance, the basic pension is withdrawn at a rate of 45 per cent against income from pension funds. It is also withdrawn at 45 per cent against employment income but only after employment income is above ISK 2,400, 000 (£14,011) in addition to the allowance. There is also an annual holiday payment of ISK 106,765 (£623) which is withdrawn at two per cent above the income limits." However, the State Pension age is currently 66-year-old for men and women in the UK - although it is slated to increase to 67 by 2028 - whereas the normal pension age in Iceland is already 67 (except for seamen who have been working for more than 25 years in the occupation, who can retire at 60). If you claim your basic pension in Iceland before you reach 67, your funds will be reduced by 6.6 per cent for each year that the pension is claimed early. Iceland also has a pension supplement which is applicable for single pensioners. The maximum value of this benefit is ISK 869,124 (£5,0712) per year, some eight per cent of average earnings. This benefit is withdrawn at 11.9 per cent, subject to the same thresholds as the basic pension. If you're tempted to ditch Britain for Iceland, you may want to think twice, as you can only receive the full basic pension if you have 40 years of residency. While Iceland's pension may seem extremely generous, it is worth considering that the cost of living here is around 40-50 per cent higher than in the UK. This means you'd be spending almost double on your weekly food shop, property, and basic goods.

Save hundreds on Galaxy S24 or latest Samsung tablet in surprise EE summer sale
EE's sale slashes prices on some of the latest and greatest tech Over the past couple of years EE has expanded its offering, from being a mobile phone network, to now running a complete tech store. There's currently a summer sale at EE, offering discounts on a full range of devices – not just mobile phones. That includes headphones, soundbars, tablets and even TVs discounted – with the advantage of being able to pay monthly, by adding it to your EE bill with no fees or interest. But some of the biggest savings are on connected devices, where you'll get a get an EE plan along with the device. The first that caught my eye was the Samsung Galaxy S24, where EE has slashed monthly prices - £10 off many of the Unlimited tariffs, or £6 a month on its cheapest plan. I'd take the Unlimited Essentials, meaning you get the Galaxy S24 for £40 a month with unlimited data, minutes and texts. All of these will save hundreds over the 24-months of the contract, with EE breaking down the price rises over the duration of the contract too. The Samsung Galaxy S24 is a year old now, but thanks to Samsung's 7-year software update promise, shoppers are guaranteed support up to 2031. There's also not a lot of difference between the Galaxy S24 and the new Galaxy S25, with only a minor difference in the power and only a small difference in the design. EE isn't the only brand offering summer sales at the moment. Sky Mobile also offering a full range of discounts on its SIM plans, where consumers can pick up a 40GB SIM for £12 a month. The Galaxy S24 isn't only Samsung device that I'd recommend, however. EE is also offering a discount on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE. This is Samsung's latest tablet and one of the appealing things about this tablet is the 10.9-inch size. While Samsung has the Tab S10 Ultra (which is really expensive) and the Tab S10 Plus – both of which are more powerful – neither of them offer the more compact size of the Tab S10 FE. The Tab S10 FE also offers many of the premium features of its larger siblings, such as S Pen support and an aluminium body. The big difference is that the Tab S10 FE has an LED display, compared to the OLED display on the other Tab S10 models. While there's a difference in display quality, I'd trade that for the smaller size which is more convenient for travelling. As this is EE, this is for the 5G version of the tablet, which is great for browsing or watching movies on the move, without having to worry about where you'll get a connection from. The catch here is that this deal is only available to existing EE customers, but tech fans can get it from £28.80 a month – down from £32 a month – and again that's added onto their EE bill. Shoppers can also buy the Wi-Fi version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE for £499 on Amazon. It's currently being offered with double storage free.
