Eighteen-year-old pimp charged as Keningau police smash syndicate exploiting secondary schoolgirls for sex
Keningau District Police Chief, Superintendent Yampil Anak Garai, told Harian Metro that investigations revealed the syndicate had recruited teenage girls, including two Form Two students, to be prostituted to customers.
'The activity came to light after the victims' parents lodged a report on July 24.
'Following this, a team from the Keningau District Criminal Investigation Division rescued four victims aged between 13 and 21, and arrested eight individuals to assist in the investigation,' he said when contacted by the national daily today.
He added that an 18-year-old girl, known as 'Elly', was believed to have acted as a pimp and has already been charged in court under Section 14 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007.
According to him, the syndicate used social media applications to seek customers, charging around RM200 per service before sending the victims to designated hotels. The proceeds were then split between the suspects and the victims.
'All victims have been taken to Keningau Hospital for medical examination and placed at a Women and Children's Protection Shelter.
'For the two underage victims, the court has granted a three-month protection order, and they have been placed at the Ampang Protection Home in Selangor until 13 November,' he said.

Watchlist order for US pastor in child abuse probe
The pastor and American founder of a Pampanga-based child care facility accused of child abuse is now under the Bureau of Immigration's watchlist, preventing him from leaving the Philippines, according to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). Ferguson was arrested on Aug 13 and charged with two counts of violating the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act. His bail was set at 160,000 pesos (RM11,540). 'He is technically eligible for bail, but because he also has an immigration charge, he cannot be released. He will be committed to the Bureau of Immigration,' Manahan clarified. DPM Fadillah urges calm, says early investigation lapses in Zara Qairina case addressed
KUCHING, Aug 17 — The negligence in the initial investigation over Zara Qairina Mahathir's case in Sabah has been addressed, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof has assured. 'Right now, let this matter take its course since investigations are underway,' he said. Gemencheh primary school headmistress, 44, dies after collapsing in teachers' room
TAMPIN, Aug 17 — A Chinese national-type primary school headmistress in Gemencheh near here passed away after losing consciousness in the teachers' room today. Tampin police chief Supt Amiruddien Sariman said they received a report regarding the incident at 11.25 am and were informed that the victim had been resting in her room as she was feeling unwell. 'Initial investigations found that the 44-year-old woman had (earlier) attended the school's Entrepreneur Day Programme. 'At 9 am, the victim's colleague found her unconscious and she was taken to Gemencheh Health Clinic, where she was pronounced dead by the attending doctor,' he said in a statement today. Amiruddien said the deceased was sent to the Forensic Department of Tampin Hospital for a post-mortem to determine the cause of death, and the case has been classified as sudden death (SDR). — Bernama
