Kilted-out king! Charles proudly dons red tartan as he arrives in Caithness for a series of visits
Charles, 76, was all smiles as he arrived in Caithness in the north of Scotland on Monday, July 28, with the monarch wearing a red tartan kilt as he stepped off at Scrabster Harbour.
Upon arrival, he was introduced to the crew of the Pacific Heron, a second-generation purpose-built nuclear transport vessel.
He unveiled a plaque for the ship after Charles met local sea cadets and Royal National Lifeboat Institution volunteers from the area.
The unveiling on Jubilee Pier came ahead of a reception in the nearby Fish Market Hall, where the King spent time meeting staff from the nuclear industry and local community members from Thurso.
A beaming Charles shook hands with members of the public before making his way to the reception for Caithness Communities as the King appeared in good spirits while continuing treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer.
The visit was hosted by the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority to mark the 70th anniversary of the Dounreay Nuclear site, the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Pacific Nuclear Transport Limited (PNTL) company, as well as the 20th anniversary of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority.
It comes after Charles attended Sunday service at St Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham, Norfolk - without the Queen by his side.
The venue is known for being a regular place of worship for members of the royal family, particularly during Christmas time. It is not known why Camilla, 77, wasn't present for yesterday's service.
However, the King's qife attended the annual King George Racing Weekend in Ascot earlier this week. Camilla picked an elegant, off-white ensemble for the occasion.
She was also seen recently attending the annual Sandringham Flower Show alongside Charles.
The royal couple arrived at the flower show on their estate in a carriage that once belonged to Queen Victoria.
They were all smiles as they rode the route lined with members of the public and waved to them as they passed by.
Looking well and relaxed in a smart suit alongside his wife, elegant in a black and white flower print dress, Charles looked delighted to be there again after being forced to miss last year's event due to his cancer treatment.
Many in the crowds commented on how delighted they were to see him back.
While Camilla did not join Charles for today's engagements in Scotland, she attended the Sovereign's Garden Party along with the King at the Palace of Holyroodhouse earlier this month.
The couple flew to Edingburgh for Holyrood Week, during which the monarch meets Scots from all walks of life.
Camilla picked a blue Fiona Clare dress and coat for the garden party that was also attended by Princess Anne.
Anne donned a mid-length floral blue dress with a matching blue blazer and chic fascinator.
The King's visit to Caithness comes on the same day the British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer joined Donald Trump for an impromptu press conference on the steps of the US president's golf club in Ayrshire.
Lady Victoria Starmer looked bemused as Mr Trump hailed her as a 'respected person all over the United States' during the leaders' meeting in Scotland today.
During the conference, the American president could be heard saying: 'We want to make the Prime Minister happy.'
Referring to Lady Victoria, the Prime Minister's wife, Mr Trump added: 'She's a respected person all over the United States.
'I don't know what he's (Sir Keir) doing but she's very respected, as respected as him. I don't want to say more, I'll get myself in trouble. But she's very, she's a great woman and is very highly respected.'

She went on: 'And mum and dad and the family and friends at home who keep my feet on the ground - Everybody here as well and our viewers who've put up with me for 15 years - thank you.' Earlier this week, Alex reflected on her journey with the show, telling the BBC: 'I feel incredibly proud to have been on the iconic sofa for all these years. 'It certainly doesn't feel like 15 years, and it still feels fresh, as the show keeps evolving. I feel like we keep coming back better and better. 'I started as a young girl, and I feel like I've grown up with our viewers. They have seen me through all my big life moments, like getting engaged and married, to having children. Our viewers are like extended family by now!' Alex and Charlie married in 2015 and share three children - Edward, Kit, and Annie. Last year, the presenter opened up about a 'rough period' in their relationship when Charlie was battling Lyme disease and viral meningitis. Speaking on Gabby Logan's podcast The MidPoint, Alex said that he is 'in a much better place now' but was a 'shadow of himself' as he suffered with his mental health over the illness. She said: 'It's my husband's own story to tell, so I won't go into detail, but he suffers with his mental health, 'And we've just been through a really bad period where, bless him, he had Lyme Disease and then he had viral meningitis. The unlikely bond between JD Vance and David Lammy
US Vice President JD Vance is taking his holiday in the UK - a trip which will include visits to the Cotswolds, Scotland and, to kick it all off, a few days staying with Foreign Secretary David Lammy at his grace-and-favour country home, Chevening House in Kent. It would seem an unlikely friendship on the face of it. One grew up in north London, the other in rust-belt Ohio. One is a left-wing advocate of multi-culturalism, the other a conservative who has, albeit jokingly, referred to the UK as "the first truly Islamist country" with a nuclear bomb. Yet, despite their differences Lammy and Vance appear to be the best of friends. As he settled in for a brief chat with the media in the drawing room at Chevening alongside the foreign secretary, Vance spoke warmly of their relationship. "I have to say that I really have become a good friend, and David has become a good friend of mine," he said. Vance converted to Catholicism as an adult and took mass with Lammy when he visited Washington DC earlier this year. The pair have something else in common, although neither want to to draw attention to it: their previous less-than-flattering comments about Donald Trump. JD Vance's past verdict - "reprehensible", "an idiot", "I never liked him".And Lammy's? "A tyrant" and "a woman-hating, neo Nazi sympathising sociopath". Be it political expediency or a genuine change of heart, both have since revised their opinions. Explaining the appeal of the region to wealthy Americans, writer Plum Sykes told the BBC's PM programme it combines the desire for countryside with the need for glamour. "Americans can't go to Wales and survive in the same way they can in the Cotswolds where you can get a matcha latte and go to a gyrotonics class. "The business of the private jet people at Cotswolds airport has gone through the roof." Vance is reported to be staying in a house, very close to Diddly Squat - the farm and pub belonging to broadcaster Jeremy sets up the possibility of an awkward encounter between the two. Clarkson has previously lambasted Vance, with "a bearded god-botherer" being among his more printable insults. But a friendship might still flower, after all forming unlikely relationships seems to be as fashionable as the Cotswolds at the moment.
