Knicks Guard Makes Big Personal Announcement During Offseason
Knicks Guard Makes Big Personal Announcement During Offseason originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The New York Knicks are going to be under a microscope all offseason long after firing Tom Thibodeau, who was the head coach of the team for five seasons.

Most recently, Thibodeau led the Knicks to their first Eastern Conference Finals appearance in 25 years. With Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns leading the way on the hardwood, Thibodeau had New York just two wins away from the NBA Finals.
Still, the Knicks believe they need another head coach to help them achieve their first NBA title since 1973.
While the club goes through an extensive head coaching search, the rest of the team will wait to see how the squad shakes out.

Trades and roster moves could be on the way. One player whose role seems safe, though, is Miles McBride.
The backup guard provided valuable playoff minutes for the Knicks this season. While there was plenty to be impressed with as it pertains to his on-court play, he recently made a major off-court announcement.

McBride and Ana Zortea shared on Instagram late on Sunday night that they welcomed their baby girl into the world.
"God is great," McBride shared on Instagram. "I love you babygirl"
This past season, McBride emerged as a real rotational piece for the Knicks, averaging 9.5 points, 2.9 assists and 2.5 rebounds per game while playing 24.9 minutes per contest.
Not only was the West Virginia product a strong contributor as a shooter this past season, but he was also the Knicks' strongest point of attack defender.
With a new head coach set to come in and lead the franchise, the bench is about to get much more valuable -- as Thibodeau didn't use his bench too, too much. A new head coach will value rotations much more, especially during the regular season.

McBride and his girlfriend Ana will navigate next season and the next chapter of their life with a newborn baby, too.

Mets Announce Pete Alonso, Juan Soto News After Third Straight Loss
Mets Announce Pete Alonso, Juan Soto News After Third Straight Loss originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Mets are looking to rebound from their first series sweep of the season after dropping the latest set against the Tampa Bay Rays. Despite two strong shutout performances from the pitching staff earlier in the week, New York struggled to maintain consistency, and the offense seemed out of sync at the plate. Advertisement Right fielder Juan Soto and first baseman Pete Alonso both cooled off during the series, combining for just three hits over the three games. Soto, in particular, struck out multiple times in key moments, and Alonso's power was noticeably absent. However, despite the weekend's struggles, both players have fueled New York's success in recent weeks. Mets right fielder Juan Soto (22) celebrates with first baseman Pete Carchietta-Imagn Images On Monday, the Mets celebrated a shining moment: Francisco Lindor, Pete Alonso, and Juan Soto all emerged as frontrunners in the initial All-Star ballot returns. Lindor leads his respective position, but Alonso and Soto each trail at least one other player. The team took to social media to capture their excitement about the news: Advertisement "ALL-STAR BALLOT UPDATE Francisco Lindor, Pete Alonso, and Juan Soto are amongst the leaders for their positions!" the Mets announced on X. Throughout the 2025 season, Alonso has been elite. He's hit 17 home runs and leads the National League with 63 RBIs, and is on his way to potentially earning his fourth All-Star appearance. Soto has also shown flashes of his MVP-caliber form, reaching 13 home runs and 36 RBIs this campaign. With Monday off, the Mets will turn their sights to a big Tuesday matchup in Atlanta against the Braves. They'll look to regain form and recapture their offensive rhythm—leaning on their All-Star trio to lead the way. Red Sox Urged to Trade for Brewers' Rhys Hoskins ‘Right Now' Amid Rafael Devers Trade
Red Sox Urged to Trade for Brewers' Rhys Hoskins 'Right Now' Amid Rafael Devers Trade originally appeared on Athlon Sports. After the Boston Red Sox traded away superstar designated hitter Rafael Devers, there are a lot of questions left for the Red Sox front office. With the team sitting above .500 and in range of a Wild Card spot, the team shouldn't be in rebuild or selling mode. They should instead be trying to acquire MLB talent to contribute to a postseason run. Advertisement With all of the money freed up from the Devers trade, there are plenty of paths Craig Breslow and the front office can take. One MLB executive believes they should swing a deal for Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Rhys Hoskins. According to an article from Mark Feinsand of a National League MLB executive urged the Red Sox to acquire Hoskins to shift the narrative on the Devers deal. "'What the general public never factors in their knee-jerk trade reactions in what the teams trading away the large contract can now go do with those dollars,' and an NL executive said," Feinsand reported. "Boston should go and trade for someone like [Brewers first baseman] Rhys Hoskins right now. Then the deal takes on a whole new dimension." Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Rhys Hoskins (12) hits a single in the fourth inning against the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Stratman-Imagn Images If Boston did use some of the money on Hoskins, while it wouldn't negate the negative feelings from the fanbase over that decision, it would help soften the blow of losing the final player from the 2018 World Series squad. Advertisement Hoskins is currently under contract for $18 million in 2025 and has a mutual option of $18 million for the 2026 season. The Red Sox could offer an extension and move off Triston Casas permanently, or they could use him for just one year, and let Hoskins walk after the 2025 season for a new payday. Whatever the Red Sox could do with Hoskins, they'd be getting a great slugging hitter on their roster. In 2025, Hoskins had 56 hits, 23 runs scored, nine doubles, 10 home runs, 37 RBIs, 30 walks, and 73 strikeouts in 229 at-bats. The Brewers' slugging first baseman is a player the Red Sox need, and he's also likely to become available if the Brewers begin to lose games in the build-up to the MLB trade deadline. From the perspective of an MLB executive, adding someone like Hoskins with the freed-up money from the Devers trade should be something the Red Sox do "right now." Not only would it add offensive firepower, but it'd also help justify the deal and help round out a roster with plenty of question marks following Devers' departure. Rick Carlisle is a WNBA fan, and in the NBA he's far from alone in that club
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — It's official: Rick Carlisle isn't just an Indiana Fever fan. He's a fan of the WNBA game in general. The Indiana Pacers coach — shortly before his team was to play in Game 5 of the NBA Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday night — was asked to share his thoughts about how the WNBA is getting attention at this time of year. Carlisle didn't hesitate to tout how he thinks the WNBA is a great basketball product, in just the latest reminder than the W has some big fans all over the NBA. 'I've become a big follower of the WNBA,' Carlisle said. 'I have close relationships with some other head coaches in the W, along with (Fever coach) Stephanie White. I watched almost every Fever game last year. I think all, or just about all, of them were on national TV. And I'm following the entire league very closely. It's great basketball.' The Fever are a huge draw nationally, and obviously in Indianapolis as well, because of the Caitlin Clark phenomenon. The Pacers make no secret of how they are Fever fans, and vice versa. It's also been quite common for years to see big NBA names — LeBron James, Chris Paul, Bam Adebayo, Damian Lillard and many others — showing up at WNBA games. San Antonio star Victor Wembanyama was at a Dallas Stars game earlier this season. Russell Westbrook and his Honor The Gift label helped style and design what Georgia Amoore wore to this year's WNBA draft, when she got picked sixth overall by Washington. 'I can't thank him enough because even the little bits of advice he's given me along the way, to have a contact like that now as someone I can try and lean on or lean into, it's amazing, and I think it's the start,' Amoore said of Westbrook on draft night. 'You're going to see this happen more often, and I think it's just a blessing to be the first one to do it.' Carlisle said he understands why NBA coaches and players are drawn to the WNBA — and added that the NBA can learn plenty from how some in the WNBA play the game. 'There are things that can be learned by NBA staffs and players watching the W because the dynamics of their game are a little different,' Carlisle said. 'The footwork elements of it are very, very high level. And you know, the personalities, they are coming at you all the time. It's very fun. It's very fun to follow.' ___ AP NBA:
