What's the 'issue' Thelin needs to solve?
Willie Miller asked Jimmy Thelin. Every Aberdeen fan is asking Jimmy Thelin. Jimmy Thelin is probably even asking Jimmy Thelin.'How are you going to beat Celtic in the Scottish Cup final?'Most are in agreement something, tactically, has to change. Is it five at the back? Is it Jack MacKenzie at left-back in place of Graeme Shinnie? Is it pace up top?All options the Aberdeen manager must be mulling over.In the sides' previous meeting earlier this month, Celtic ran riot in a 5-1 win at Pittodrie. Midfielder Shinnie, 33, was again deployed at left-back - he has played the past eight games there - while MacKenzie has watched on from the bench."James Forrest absolutely terrorised Aberdeen at Pittodrie," said Scott McDermott, Sunday Mail chief football writer, on the BBC's Scottish Football Podcast. "I felt sorry for Shinnie at left-back He's played most of the season in central midfield, he's not got the legs to play at left-back any more and he really struggled against Forrest that night. "Whether it's Forrest or Nicholas Kuhn that starts on the right for Celtic, if Shinnie's at left-back, then it's going to be an issue. "I just wonder whether that's something Thelin will change going into the game."Something's got to give. They need a bit of luck. They need Celtic to have an off day, which is rare. "I think we're clutching at straws here. I just don't see any other outcome."

Rangers fans shocked to discover who Russell Martin's VERY recognisable girlfriend is - as new boss signs three-year deal at Ibrox
Rangers fans have expressed shock after finding out who Russell Martin's former topless model girlfriend Lucy Pinder is. The former Scotland international defender signed a three-year contract at Ibrox just a week after a US-based consortium completed a takeover of the Glaswegian club. The 39-year-old had a short stint at Rangers as a player in 2018 and moves to Scotland for his first job after being sacked by Southampton in December with the club languishing in the Premier League 's bottom spot. Martin led the Saints to Championship promotion the previous season and enjoyed succesful spells at Swansea and MK Dons. The Rangers ownership labelled him the 'standout choice' to take charge after a long recruitment process to replace Philippe Clement - with former captain Barry Ferguson leading the team since February. Amid the initial fanfare over his appointment, some Rangers supporters took to social media to share their surprise after discovering who his partner is. 'How the f*** am I just now discovering Lucy Pinder,' one wrote on X. 'I still live in Scotland and I don't have a clue who she is,' another added. But others were fully aware of the former glamour model. 'Where have you been,' one fan replied to the tweet. 'Your having a laugh aren't you mate,' another replied. Pinder, 41, was at the height of her fame in the mid-2000s during the era of lads' mags such as FHM, Nuts and Loaded. She appeared topless in Nuts Magazine was ranked on FHM's '100 Sexiest Women in the World'. She also featured on Soccer AM, albeit fully clothed, and later entered the Celebrity Big Brother house in 2009. One Rangers fan took to social media to express his shock at finding out who Lucy Pinder was Pinder was discovered as a model on Bournemouth beach in 2003, at the age of 19, when she was working as a secretary. She is a life-long Southampton supporter, but will be cheering on her husband from Ibrox rather than St Mary's next season. Martin and Pinder went public with their relationship in August last year as she shared a picture of them together in Brighton, where Martin was receiving an honorary degree. Martin's relationship with Pinder follows the breakdown of his marriage to Jasmine, with whom he shares three children and who he previously hailed as a 'supermum'.

Emmanuel-Thomas, 34, was playing for Morton at the time of his arrest in September last year. He was subsequently sacked by the Championship club. Last month, he pleaded guilty at Chelmsford Crown Court to fraudulent evasion of the prohibition on the importation of cannabis between July 1, 2024 and September 2, 2024. He was remanded in custody and was sentenced today. Emmanuel-Thomas has been jailed for four years. Judge Alexander Mills told the striker: "It is through your own actions you will no longer be known as a professional footballer." "You will be known as a criminal. A professional footballer who threw it all away." London-born Emmanuel-Thomas came through the academy system at Arsenal. He made it all the way to the first team and appeared in the Premier League. After a series of loan spells, Emmanuel-Thomas enjoyed spells with Ipswich, Bristol City and QPR. He had a spell abroad before joining Livingston in 2020. Emmanuel-Thomas, nicknamed JET, impressed and earned a move to Aberdeen. However, he couldn't replicate his success at Pittodrie and left after less than a year. He failed to score a league goal for the Dons. Emmanuel-Thomas returned to Scotland on a short-term deal in July 2024 before being sacked in mid-September after being charged over his role in the drugs plot. The court heard that the drugs were brought into the UK by the striker's girlfriend, Yasmin Piotrowski. She and Rosie Rowland had flown business class to Stansted on September 2. Emmanuel-Thomas was linked to the discovery by WhatsApp messages, voice notes and pictures. The court was told it was "apparent" he had recruited the women, who were cleared after prosecutors offered no evidence in their case. Emmanuel-Thomas had offered the women £2,500 plus a free holiday to Thailand. After Piotrowska was stopped by border officials, Emmanuel-Thomas messaged Rowland to tell her to "delete everything from our chat if you can". The footballer then travelled to East London on September 5 and replaced his mobile phone. He was dismissed by Morton a couple of weeks later when the situation came to light. The 34-year-old pleaded guilty to a cannabis importation charge over an attempt to smuggle £600,000 of the drug through Stansted Airport. Emmanuel-Thomas was playing for Scottish Championship side Greenock Morton at the time of his arrest and was subsequently sacked. The former Arsenal academy product initially denied the charges but changed his plea to guilty at a hearing on May 7 at Chelmsford Crown Court in Essex. Before sentencing Emmanuel-Thomas, Judge Alexander Mills said: "It is through your own actions you will no longer be known as a professional footballer. You will be known as a criminal. The Mirror reports Footballer Jay Emmanuel-Thomas has been sentenced to four years in jail after last month pleading guilty to a cannabis importation charge over an attempt to smuggle £600,000 of the drug through Stansted Airport from Thailand. The 34-year-old striker was sacked by Scottish Championship side Greenock Morton after his arrest last year. The former Arsenal academy product initially denied the charges but changed his plea to guilty at a hearing on May 7 at Chelmsford Crown Court in Essex. "It is through your own actions you will no longer be known as a professional footballer," Judge Alexander Mills said before informing the footballer of his sentence.. "You will be known as a criminal. A professional footballer who threw it all away." The footballer, whose former clubs include Ipswich, Bristol City, QPR, Livingston, Aberdeen and Thai side PTT Rayong, had spent the past eight months on remand. But before his sentencing a letter from him to Judge Mills was read out in court. "This past year has been the most harmful and eye-opening of my life," he wrote. "At times it has been unbearable." He added that he "never imagined" he could be in this situation, and he "completely regrets but takes full responsibility for" his actions. He continued that seeing his daughter visit him in prison was one of the toughest moments of his life. "Watching her walk into the space broke me," he adds. "I never wanted her to see me in that light." Emmanuel-Thomas, of Cardwell Road in Gourock, Inverclyde, Scotland, was arrested in the town by National Crime Agency (NCA) officers in September 2024 after the NCA seized an estimated £600,000 of the class B drug as it was being smuggled through Stansted on September 2. Border Force officers detected roughly 60kg (132lb) of the drug in two suitcases, which had arrived via a flight from Bangkok, Thailand. Co-defendants Rosie Rowland and Yasmin Piotrowska, who both denied charges having flown with the drugs, were already informed that they face no further action after prosecutors offered no evidence in their case. Ms Rowland, 29, of Southend Road, Chelmsford, Essex, and 33-year-old Ms Piotrowska, of Purves Road, Kensal Rise, north-west London, wept after learning of the verdicts last month. Ms Piotrowska, who was described in court as Emmanuel-Thomas' girlfriend, watched on from the gallery as the sentence was handed down. The court also heard that Emmanuel-Thomas had offered the women an all-expenses-paid trip to Thailand, as well as £2,500 in cash, for their role in the plot. Emmanuel-Thomas came through Arsenal's youth academy and spent three years on their books as a professional between 2008 and 2011. During that period he had loan spells at Blackpool, Doncaster Rovers and Cardiff City. He was then sold to Ipswich before moving to Bristol City and on to Queens Park Rangers. By 2019 Emmanuel-Thomas was playing for Thai club PTT Rayong but in recent years has turned out for Scottish clubs Livingston, Aberdeen and Greenock Morton. He also won a number of England underage caps.
