Happy Mother's Day 2025: Mothers have always been the epitome of unwavering love, bravery, and selflessness. This Sunday, May 11, will be particularly memorable. It's Mother's Day, after all. It is a special day to celebrate and honour the incalculable and selfless efforts they make for their children's success.
Family members often make an effort to bring a smile to her face and even surprise her with gifts or other special things. Here are some beautiful and heartfelt songs to dedicate to your mom.
Luka Chuppi (Rang De Basanti): Despite its melancholic tone, the song will always be a favourite on our Mother's Day playlist. Written by Prasoon Joshi and sung by Lata Mangeshkar and A.R. Rahman, this song never fails to bring tears to one's eyes. It provides a window into a mother's emotions as she grieves over her child.
Maa (Taare Zameen Par): Children might feel lonely and depressed when their parents don't believe in them and their potential, as this incredibly moving song from Taare Zameen Par illustrates. One of the most beloved and heartfelt Bollywood songs, written by Prasoon Joshi and sung by Shankar Mahadevan, discusses the relationship between a mother and her child.
Aisa Kyu Maa (Neerja): The lovely bond between moms and daughters is well captured in this song. The recitation of the Hindi alphabet at the beginning takes you back to their early school years. Featuring Shabana Azmi and Sonam Kapoor as the mother-daughter duo, this song from the film Neerja is very special for the audience.
Meri Pyaari Ammi (Secret Superstar): The strong bond between a mother and her daughter is depicted in this poignant song. It tells the tale of a young woman who, despite her father's disapproval, is determined to challenge patriarchy and follow her dream of becoming a singer. Kausar Munir wrote the song, which you should definitely include to your Mother's Day playlist.
Mumma (Dasvidaniya): This is one of the most beautiful songs to honour our mothers. It captures the intense love of a kid who shows his mother how much he cares for her despite having only three months to live. We know, it sounds heartbreaking, but it is a perfect song to make your mother feel special.
Tu Kitni Achhi Hai (Raja Aur Runk): Without enjoying the lovely tune of Tu Kitni Achhi Hai, Mother's Day wouldn't be complete. This well-known song, sung by Lata Mangeshkar, is from the 1968 film Raja Aur Runk. The song, which was composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal and with poignant lyrics written by Anand Bakshi, portrays Nirupa Roy, a beloved Bollywood character, in maternal roles.
Teri Ungali Pakad Ke Chala (Laadla): This moving song from the 1993 film perfectly captures the deep love a son has for his mother. It embodies the ageless idea of appreciation towards one's mother and stars Farida Jalal, who is well-known in Bollywood for playing caring motherly roles.

Aamir Khan replaced Amole Gupte as Taare Zameen Par director after 2 days of shoot, says Darsheel Safary: ‘Forget who is the director'
Bollywood actor Aamir Khan was tagged a 'perfectionist' early in his career, but the label also invited criticism — with many accusing him of 'ghost directing' films and sidelining directors. While Aamir denied such claims in an interview with Galatta Plus, Darsheel Safary recently shared that Aamir, in fact, took over the direction of Taare Zameen Par from the film's original writer and creative director, Amole Gupte. In a recent interaction with Vickey Lalwani, Darsheel Safary recalled how Aamir completely reshot a scene in Taare Zameen Par, despite Amole Gupte being present on the set. He said, 'He told us forget everything that we just shot. I am going to direct it. Amole sir is right here and he is going to be on the set as a creative director. It is his film, I will make it, we all will make it together. Forget who is the director.' Darsheel also shared that Amole shot for the film for just 2-3 days before Aamir took over the director's chair. When asked how the transition was for him, Darsheel said, 'I was scared of Aamir sir. Amole sir and I were actually friends. He had spotted me at Shiamak Davar's classes.' He added, 'Amole sir and I had great friendship. His son and I are also good friends. We have done a lot of masti together.' Darsheel also admitted to Aamir giving inputs to Amole while shooting the film. 'I remember them talking about what works and what not. I remember very clearly him (Aamir) giving inputs.' Defending himself, Aamir said in the interview with Galatta Plus, 'A lot of times people would assume that I am ghost directing. They would assume that when these directors didn't work with me and their films were flops and it happened so many times with me that it became like 'it can't be a coincidence'. It was infuriating to convince people that I am not directing these films, it is these directors who are directing it.' The spiritual sequel of Taare Zameen Par — Sitaare Zameen Par — will be released on June 20. While Aamir played a teacher in the previous film, Sitaare Zameen Par will see him play the role of a basketball coach.
