
Man arrested, vehicle seized after person shot in Lower Hutt
Emergency services were called to Hanson Grove in Stokes Valley at 9am on Sunday to reports of a gun being fired.
A man was found with life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to Wellington Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit.
Detective Sergeant Martin Todd said a 25-year-old man was arrested last night and charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and unlawful possession of a firearm.
"We have also located and seized a vehicle of interest, a maroon-coloured Toyota MarkX station wagon with the registration KMW290, which will be forensically examined."

He acknowledged that while an arrest had been made, police still needed the public's help.
"We would like to hear from anyone who saw this maroon station wagon on Sunday morning.
'We ask that anyone in or around the Hanson Grove area in Stokes Valley, the Sladden St area in Naenae, as well as Poole St in Taitā, between 7am and 10am on Sunday, August 3, review any CCTV or dashcam footage they have."
Todd said police would have a visible presence in the area for the coming days.

Police are seeking witnesses to a serious crash in Kaikohe this afternoon, which has resulted in the death of a child. Emergency services responded to the two-car crash at the intersection of Hillcrest and Orrs Roads just after midday. Child dies after crash

Police said a man who they think was the driver was found shortly after, and a second man was found soon after that. St John said it had responded with two ambulances, two helicopters and a rapid response vehicle. One patient was flown to Whangārei Hospital and another to Auckland City Hospital, both in a serious condition. Four more patients, in moderate and minor conditions, were transported to Bay of Islands Hospital by ambulance. Police want to hear from anyone who witnessed the crash.
