USC rival Notre Dame is keeping pace with Trojans on the recruiting trail
However, the Trojans are ninth the only school putting together an elite 2026 class. Over the weekend, USC's archrival Notre Dame landed not one, not two, but three commits. The Irish now sit at No. 4 in the 247Sports Composite team rankings, just three spots behind USC.
Michael Chen of Fighting Irish Wire shared his thoughts on Notre Dame's rise up the recruiting rankings.
'Typically, players are a bit pushed off by so many other players being committed at the same position,' Chen wrote. 'But Notre Dame has broken that train of thought. The Irish had a massive recruiting weekend, as the 2026 class now is up to 25 total commits, while being ranked as the No. 4 overall group in the 247Sports Team Composite.'
Both USC and Notre Dame recruiting well is exciting for the future of the rivalry. Of course, however, in order for the two schools' elite recruits to face each other on the field, the Trojans and Irish will need to reach an agreement to extend the series beyond next year, something that they have yet to do.

Nebraska lands five-star safety and Omaha native Tory Pittman III for class of 2027
The Huskers landed their second commit and first five-star recruit for the class of 2027. Safety Tory Pittman III announced on social media that he is coming to Lincoln. Pittman is one of the top prospects in the nation for the 2027 class. The Omaha, Nebraska, native is ranked No. 1 in the state of Nebraska and among safeties across the country, according to the 247Sports Composite score. Pittman is entering his junior year at Omaha Central High School, but held a strong presence in the state even before entering high school, receiving an offer from the Huskers in eighth grade. In his freshman and sophomore years, he played both safety and wide receiver for the Eagles, totaling 88 tackles, five interceptions, and 29 catches for 528 yards and five touchdowns across 18 games. Pittman chose Nebraska over Colorado, Florida State, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, LSU, Miami (Fla.), Michigan, Missouri, Notre Dame, Oregon, Penn State, Sacramento State, Tennessee, USC, and Wisconsin. He joins four-star quarterback Trae Taylor in the class, who committed to Nebraska in May. Could Notre Dame be finding another way to get the ball to star RB Jeremiyah Love?
After today's media session, it looks very much like Notre Dame football could be trying to get its star running back Jeremiyah Love extra touches. It won't come in the way that we are all thinking, as he isn't expected to get more carries, but instead could get a handful of opportunities to return kickoffs. Special teams coach Marty Biagi met with reporters today and discussed the fact that Love and Jadarian Price could both be in line to see some opportunities on his unit. Biagi complimented the star back saying that anytime 'you see a guy that is presumed a Heisman candidate starting on our punt team, which often goes overlooked, but when you have one of the best players in the country willing to go out and be a gunner on our punt team, it sets the standard for no job is too small for anybody on our team. It sets a standard for what we really want to be.' Love being a team-first player isn't surprising, as he battled through injuries at the end of last year to help the team wherever he could. If he's able to take a few of those kickoffs for scores, it should elevate his Heisman status and we could very well be seeing him in New York City in December. Alabama football 2025 season preview, predictions: Kadyn Proctor
There are few offensive linemen across college football better at their respective position entering the 2025 season than Alabama Crimson Tide left tackle Kadyn Proctor. Entering year three in Tuscaloosa, Proctor was a day one starter at Alabama who joined the program as a top recruit in the Crimson Tide's 2023 class. However, Proctor's time in Tuscaloosa has not come entirely without bumps in the road, as the former top recruit in fact struggled at times as a true freshman, and even left the program entirely at one point via the transfer portal. One of the most important players on the Crimson Tide's 2025 roster, here is a look at everything you need to know about Alabama offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor entering the 2025 season. Kadyn Proctor player information Kadyn Proctor career stats Over the past two seasons, Proctor has started all 24 games which he has played for the Crimson Tide at left tackle. Proctor was a SEC All-Freshman selection during the 2023 season, and also earned Second Team All-SEC honors a year ago. Kadyn Proctor 2024 stats Proctor was back as Alabama's starting left tackle during the 2024 season, starting all 11 games which he played. A mainstay of Alabama's offensive line when healthy, Proctor earned Second Team All-SEC honors. Kadyn Proctor recruiting ranking One of the highest-rated offensive linemen in program history, Proctor came to Alabama ranked as the nation's No. 10 overall prospect in the 2023 recruiting class, per the 247Sports Composite rankings. A five-star prospect who committed to Alabama in Dec. 2022 after flipping from Iowa, Proctor was also ranked the No. 2 offensive tackle nationally, as well as the top player in the state of Iowa where he attended Southeast Polk High School. Last offseason, Proctor was considered by 247Sports as the No. 2 overall player in the transfer portal, as well as the top offensive lineman. Rated a five-star prospect, Proctor committed to Alabama again in April 2024 after previously transferring to Iowa in Jan. 2024. Kadyn Proctor 2025 season outlook Projected as a top 2026 NFL draft pick, expect Proctor to be one of college football's best overall players this fall. Proctor will start every game for the Crimson Tide at left tackle this season, which will be his third-straight year in Tuscaloosa as the top name at the position. The junior should also be one of the top left tackles, as well as overall offensive lineman, in college football this season, and has already been named to the preseason watch lists for a few honors such as the Outland Trophy. Overall, expect a stellar 2025 season for Proctor as Alabama's starting left tackle, and for the junior to eventually receive a few honors at seasons end on both a conference and national level.
