Gamescom Opening Night Live 2025: How to watch and what to expect

Digital Trends2 days ago
I'm still reeling from all the Summer Game Fest 2025 announcements, but Geoff Keighly is already gearing up to take to the stage again to kick off Gamescom with his annual Opening Night Live kickoff presentation. This is the last major gaming event for upcoming video games to show themselves off to a wide audience before The Game Awards at the end of the year, and we already know some big titles are scheduled to appear. To give you a refresher, Gamecom Opening Night Live 2024 was where we first saw Borderlands 4, plus deeper looks at Civilization 7 and Monster Hunter Wilds. Will this year be able to stack up? We can't say for sure yet, but I can tell you how to watch it and what games you can expect to see.
When is Gamescom Opening Night Live 2025?

There's been no mention of how long Gamescom Opening Night Live 2025 will be, but last year's event was around 2 hours long, plus some pre and post-show coverage, so I suspect this year will end up being a similar length.
How to watch Gamescom Opening Night Live 2025
It is to be expected now that all the big gaming events will be streamed live across all major platforms, and Opening Night Live 2025 is no different. You can watch along with the rest of the world who isn't able to be there in person on the official YouTube, Twitch, X, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok accounts.
Make sure you also keep Digital Trends open as we cover all the announcements as they happen so you don't miss any important details.
Every confirmed announcement for Gamescom Opening Night Live 2025
The big showpiece kicking off Opening Night Live 2025 is confirmed to be Black Ops 7, but that will only be the beginning. That's the only confirmed title, but here are some other games I think are likely to appear:

Resident Evil Requiem
Silent Hill f
Directive 8020

Madonna's Soundtrack Album Returns With The Help Of A Young Hollywood Star

Madonna's Evita soundtrack reenters the Official Soundtrack Albums chart in the U.K., aided by a ... More West End revival and a hit song from that production. For nearly two decades, the singer-songwriter starred in feature after feature, but she never found the same level of success as an actress that she quickly earned as a musician. While some of her movies were commercially successful, only a few allowed her to incorporate the musical talent that made her a household name in the first place. Perhaps most memorably, Madonna took on the role of Eva Perón in the film version of Evita. The project remains one of her most important movie roles, and the accompanying soundtrack is still adored by fans – mostly of the singer herself. This week, it becomes a chart win once more. Evita Returns to the U.K. Chart Evita returns to the Official Soundtrack Albums chart in the United Kingdom this week. The full-length, credited solely to Madonna, reappears at No. 50 on the ranking of the bestselling soundtracks across the nation. Evita hasn't been spotted on the Official Soundtrack Albums chart for more than half a decade. The last time it landed on the list was in December 2018, when it resurfaced at No. 42 before disappearing again. Evita Has Logged Over 100 Weeks on the Chart Over the years, Madonna's Evita has spent a total of 109 weeks somewhere on the Official Soundtrack Albums chart. In all that time, the project has cracked the top 10 only once, and just barely. The full-length reached No. 10 in August 2006, and it hasn't returned to that competitive region since. The Evita Revival Played a Big Role Evita is back on people's minds as a revival of the show performs well on the West End in London. West Side Story actress Rachel Zegler leads the production, and this week, she and composer Andrew Lloyd Webber hit No. 1 on several charts in the U.K. with a new take on "Don't Cry for Me Argentina," perhaps the most famous tune from the show. Another Madonna Hit Returns as Well As Evita returns to the Official Soundtrack Albums chart, one of Madonna's earliest hits — one not connected to the film — also rebounds. "Erotica" becomes a top 20 smash once more on both the Official Vinyl Singles and Official Physical Singles tallies, reentering those lists at Nos. 12 and 17, respectively.

Alicia Silverstone Uncovers Dark Family Secrets in Trailer for IRISH BLOOD — GeekTyrant

Acorn TV has released the first trailer for Alicia Silverstone's Irish Blood , which dives deep into family drama and buried secrets. Silverstone stars as Fiona Sharpe, a divorce lawyer whose life takes an unexpected turn when she receives a message from the father who abandoned her on her 10th birthday. That message pulls her to Ireland, where the truth is far murkier—and more dangerous—than she ever imagined. The synopsis reads: "Divorce lawyer Fiona Sharpe (starring Alicia Silverstone) receives a message from her estranged father, embarking on a journey to Ireland. 'There she learns key truths about her father as well as a family that doesn't know she exists, and, moreover, the story of abandonment that has shaped her entire life – was a lie. A lie intended to protect her and her mother from her father's shady business dealings. Fiona resolves to uncover the full truth about her father and reconnect with the parent she only thought she knew..." The six-episode series comes from creators John Krizanc and Christina Ray, with episodes directed by Molly McGlynn and produced by Deadpan Pictures and Shaftesbury. The cast also includes Jason O'Mara, Wendy Crewson, and Ruth Codd, and it's all shot on location in Ireland, which looks stunning. Silverstone teased, " Irish Blood is the story of a woman discovering herself and confronting her past after traveling abroad unexpectedly. I love how unpredictable the storytelling feels and the combination of drama, humor, and suspense my character experiences." The series will be released on August 11, 2025

Mom's unexpected secret chili ingredient leaves millions of TikTok viewers divided: 'Absolutely not'

A mother's chili secret has gone viral in a TikTok video that has some loving the added ingredient while others are in disbelief. The video was posted by the Hnieno Fam, a family-oriented TikTok account centered on a London mother and a father of two. Jade Hnieno, the mom of the family, shared the video last month, revealing the mysterious addition: a square of dark chocolate added directly to the pot. "Secret ingredient to make the best chili," she captioned the video. The video, which has been viewed over 6.4 million times, was met with both intrigue and disgust. "Absolutely not," one person wrote. "No," another said bluntly. Others defended the little-known ingredient, sharing their own unusual tips for incorporating dark chocolate. "Although chili and mole are different in terms of ingredients and cultural origin, both are usually added with dark chocolate to enhance their flavor experience." "I worked for a small-town chocolate brand for a while and THIS was our key ingredient for a chili cook-off," one person said. "It's so good." "Also works in a bolognese sauce," a second person wrote. "I'm Mexican and yes, it is very normal to use dark chocolate in chili," another said. "We literally use it to make mole." A different TikToker revealed, "I like to cook some cocoa powder with the tomato paste in the beginning and deglaze with a Coke." The mother behind the account, Jade Hnieno, told Fox News Digital her family really enjoyed the chili. "We had it with baked potato and sour cream, our favorite way to have chili," she said. "I think the chocolate enhances the flavor by adding depth and richness to the dish, balancing out the acidity from the tomatoes and peppers." Science appears to support her reasoning. Fox News Digital spoke with food scientist Bryan Quoc Le, Ph.D., about how chocolate can enrich the dish. Le, who is based in California and works for Mendocino Food Consulting, said the fat compounds in dark chocolate help soften the spicy punch of capsaicin. "Due to its higher cocoa solids, flavonols and fat content compared to other grades, unsweetened, high-percentage dark chocolates are recommended." "On the other hand, the bitterness of chocolates due to compounds like flavonols, phenolics and other non-polyphenols effectively balances the bright sourness of tomatoes due to citric and malic acids, making the umami taste more prominent," he said. "Although chili and mole are different in terms of ingredients and cultural origin, both are usually added with dark chocolate to enhance their flavor experience." The cuisine expert also noted that mixing chocolate and chili peppers dates back to the Mayan and Aztec empires. "One of the earliest evidence of mixing chocolate and chili peppers dates back to the 15th century [when] Olmec, Maya and Aztec consumed hot chocolate with chili peppers due to [their] medicinal purposes and ritual traditions," he said. But if you have a spare white or milk chocolate bar in your pantry, the food scientist recommends keeping it out of your chili. "Due to its higher cocoa solids, flavonols and fat content compared to other grades, unsweetened, high-percentage dark chocolates are recommended," Le advised.
