LG's new mini-LED TVs include a wire-free wonder

Back in January, we reported that LG was planning to launch a range of premium QNED TVs with Evo branding for 2025. And now they're rolling out.
That includes the most intriguing new model – one with wireless 144Hz video support.
The QNED9M is the first LG QNED TV to come with the firm's True Wireless technology, previously exclusive to M-series OLEDs.
Its Zero Connect box transmits audio and video without cables at up to 144Hz refresh rates, while still meeting AMD's criteria for a FreeSync Premium gaming experience. That means very low lag despite the wireless transmission, and could see it compare favourably against the best TVs out there.
The refresh rate for the rest of the Evo QNEDs in the range is either 120Hz or 144Hz depending on the model. The 55- and 60-inch QNED87, QNED86 and QNED85 have 120Hz, while the 65-, 75-, 86- and 100-inch models have 144Hz.
All models sport LG's mini-LED QNED displays and the latest generation of its Alpha AI processor (in the QNED9M, QNED85 and QNED92) and AI Picture Pro optimisation. All run webOS 25.
There's dynamic tone mapping for fine-tuning the brightness and contrast, virtual 9.1.2 surround sound, an AI object enhancer for enhanced detail and in a nice touch, AI personalisation for each user of the TV.
LG's Picture/Sound Wizard can recommend audio and video mode for each individual profile. You can switch between them via voice recognition, as well as with the remote.
If you're familiar with LG's remote controls you'll already know about its mouse-like control, and the remote here also has an AI button for voice recognition and navigation.
The TVs will go on sale next month in the US, Korea and European countries, with other territories following later this year.
Different models are currently available to order in different countries. LG UK is currently listing the QNED85 only, with prices of £1,099 for 55-inches, £1,399 for 65- and £2,099 for the 75-inch model.
In the US, the 55-inch QNED82A is $599, whilethe flagship 100-inch QNED85A is $4,999.
LG Australia currently lists two of the new Evo QNED TVs for pre-order – the 65-inch QNED81 at AU$1,899 and the 100-inch QNED86A at AU$8,999.

CostCo is the latest US retailer to confirm Nintendo Switch 2 stock

The US retail giant now has a Nintendo Switch 2 bundle listed on its website. It includes the console itself, a digital copy of Mario Kart World, and a 12-month Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription. Stock could obviously vary depending on your location, but the webpage states that the Switch 2 "is expected to be in stock and available for purchase soon" and urges shoppers to "check back again later." There is, however, still no sign that Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders will be available at CostCo. Furthermore, the retailer is limiting purchases to one unit every seven days. But after a week, it's realistic to expect Switch 2 stock to sell through entirely at CostCo given how difficult it has been to already secure a pre-order. As for price, CostCo hasn't disclosed this quite yet. But if I had to guess, given the addition of a 12-month NSO + Expansion Pack membership on top of the $499.99 Mario Kart World bundle, I'd expect this bundle to go on sale for around $549.99. Likely not the most affordable bundle out there, then, but certainly one worth considering if you'd like a Switch 2 console on day one, and are running out of options elsewhere. iPhone 17 Air leak shows impossibly sturdy frame, but don't put your "bendgate" fears to bed just yet

Rumored to be only 5.5mm thick, the upcoming iPhone 17 Air will be Apple's slimmest phone since the infamous iPhone 6, but can its reported titanium-aluminum frame help Apple avoid another "bendgate" disaster? Footage shared to X last week by reputable leaker "Majin Bu" claims to show a mock-up of the iPhone 17 Air being put through an impromptu bend test and passing with flying colors. Should it prove accurate, it's a clear indicator that Apple is taking durability seriously with its return to ultra-thin smartphones. While the iPhone 17 Air hasn't been officially announced yet, we've seen a boatload of rumors about it, including leaked images of the design. The dummy unit shown in the video certainly matches up to what we've seen so far, but can we expect the real deal to stand up to similar levels of punishment? Maybe we shouldn't put our "bendgate" fears to bed just yet. See also: Best Apple deals in May 2025 On Friday, Majin Bu posted a video on X showing a bend test with a dummy version of the iPhone 17 Air. Despite repeated attempts, the mock-up barely flinches, a polar opposite outcome to Apple's previous iPhone 6 Plus, which controversially folded with ease during Unbox Therapy's famous "bendgate" video released in 2014. Hopefully, this is an indicator that Apple has learned from its past mistakes with "bendgate," and devised a way to make the iPhone 17 Air significantly more durable than the iPhone 6 Plus. The iPad Pro M4 gives us reason to be optimistic, at least, since its ultra-thin chassis reportedly uses a new internal ribbing design that helps prevent bending. However, you might not want to get your hopes up just yet. Keep in mind, the "phone" in this video is not an actual iPhone 17 Air, or even a phone at all. It's a pre-production "dummy," meaning it's a model based on the actual phone, or at least appears to be. Since this isn't coming directly from Apple, we can't confirm how accurate the design or build quality of this mock-up is, regardless of how much it resembles previously leaked images of the iPhone 17 Air. That said, dummy units like this are sometimes solid through-and-through, designed to give third-party companies a better idea of the size, weight, or ergonomics of a device to aid with the design of accessories, like smartphone cases, well in advance of a product's release. This lump of metal may pass the bend test with ease, but the actual iPhone 17 Air that is expected to hit store shelves later this year? That's another story entirely. Even if this leaked video is an accurate representation of the iPhone 17 Air's resistance to bending, durability isn't the only concern surrounding this phone. Battery life could also take a hit due to the Air's ultra-thin chassis. There's simply less space for a large battery compared to something like the iPhone 17 Pro. That may be why Apple is rumored to be introducing an AI-powered battery optimization feature, which may be able to help compensate for a physically smaller battery in the iPhone 17 Air. The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge may give us an idea of what to expect in terms of battery life. It features an ultra-thin design similar to the iPhone 17 Air, including a 3,900 mAh battery, which is notably smaller than the 4,900 mAh battery in the S25 Plus. It's possible we could see a similar reduction in battery size from the iPhone 17 or 17 Pro compared to the iPhone 17 Air. James Gunn Debunks Superman Rumor About The Runtime While Offering Thrilling Update About The DC Flick

If there's one movie I'm looking forward to on the 2025 movie schedule more than any other, it has to be James Gunn's upcoming Superman. To be sure, I'm far from certain the movie is going to be great, but there's a lot of reason to believe it will be, and the potential for something really special is quite high. This makes it very exciting to learn that the movie, set for release in a little over a month, is very nearly done. In a post on Threads, James Gunn did what he does best: debunking the latest rumor regarding one of his films. In this case, it came from a fan asking about an official runtime for Superman, listed as two hours and two minutes. Gunn said the official runtime for the film hasn't been set yet, for the simple reason that the movie isn't actually finished. However, that day is very close as there are apparently only a couple of VFX shots remaining to finish. Gunn said… That is not correct. It's almost totally locked - meaning we're just finishing a couple VFX shots over the weekend - but that's not the running time. The runtime itself isn't particularly important. The movie will be as long as it needs to be. Given that we've seen more and more blockbusters with runtimes significantly higher than two hours, it's unlikely the movie will be edited down more than James Gunn wants. While there was a time when we might have seen a movie with broad appeal edited down for no reason beyond a desire to hit a certain runtime, that's less likely today. What's important is that Superman is literally days away from being completed. It doesn't change how many days I need to wait to see it, of course, but the fact that it's nearly done makes it feel like Superman is just a little bit closer. Max: Save Up To $41 On Annual PlansThe first part of James Gunn's new DCU, Creature Commandoes, is already available on Max, and there you can also watch every previous Superman movie to get ready for the new one. It's probably worth signing up for a year just to be able to watch all the DC content. Alternatively, its cheapest plan starts from $9.99 a month. I'd always recommend getting Max as a part of the bundle with Disney Plus and Hulu, though, starting from $16.99 a Deal Superman will make the big screen debut of the new DCU under James Gunn, and with numerous DC Comics characters other than the Man of Steel set to appear, the movie will certainly open up many different directions for a cinematic universe to go. When Iron Man first arrived, we didn't know what Marvel was planning, but with DC's new universe, we know what's happening, which makes Superman's arrival all the more exciting and important. Superman is going to be a big movie when it hits theaters in July. Whether it's a great film or a major box office hit remains to be seen, but success or failure, Superman is going to make a considerable impact. I can't wait to see which it is. How long I'm sitting in the theater is the least of my concerns.
