Lamar Odom ordered to vacate LA mansion over unpaid rent
According to court documents obtained by The Post, Odom missed rent payments for January, February, and March 2025. A three-day notice to pay or vacate the premises was posted on March 11, warning that failure to comply would result in the termination of his lease. The landlord followed up by mailing a copy of the notice and, on March 17, formally ended the agreement through what's known as an 'election of forfeiture,' effectively revoking Odom's right to stay at the property.
After Odom failed to respond to the lawsuit, the court ruled in favor of Executive Recovery Group, Inc. on April 28, granting them possession of the home and ordering Odom to leave. In addition to seeking unpaid rent, the sublessor also requested attorney fees and damages.
This latest legal development adds to a difficult chapter in Odom's life. The former Lakers forward, previously married to Khloé Kardashian, suffered a near-fatal overdose in 2015, leading to 12 strokes and six heart attacks while in a coma. Though Kardashian paused their divorce during his recovery, it was finalized in 2016. Since then, Odom has spoken publicly about his experience and launched the Odom Wellness Treatment Centers to support others facing addiction.
The property in question has also been previously leased by the late rapper Mac Miller, who filmed his MTV series there before his death in 2018.

Bed Bath & Beyond skips California expansion citing strict regulations
Beyond, Inc, the parent company of Bed Bath & Beyond, announced it will not open physical retail stores in California as part of its 2025 expansion strategy. Instead, the retailer will serve customers in the state exclusively through its e-commerce platform, Executive Chairman Marcus Lemonis cited California's challenging regulatory climate as the primary reason behind the decision. High taxes, labor laws, environmental mandates, and operational costs were identified as barriers to profitability. 'At Bed Bath & Beyond, our responsibility is to our customers and our shareholders. We will not participate in a system that undermines both,' Lemonis said in a company statement. Although the retailer is avoiding brick-and-mortar stores in California, it plans to provide robust online service with 24–48 hour delivery options and same-day delivery available in select regions. Beyond, Inc., headquartered in Murray, Utah, also owns Overstock and buybuy BABY. The company acquired the Bed Bath & Beyond brand following its bankruptcy in 2023. The move underscores a broader trend in retail, as companies increasingly weigh state-specific strategies and shift investments toward digital channels amid changing consumer habits. In financial updates, Beyond, Inc. reported second-quarter 2025 earnings per share of $0.22, beating expectations of a $0.35 loss. Revenue reached $282 million, surpassing forecasts of $261.38 million. Despite the strong quarter, Needham maintained a Hold rating, noting ongoing challenges with revenue trajectory and profitability. To strengthen its brand identity, Beyond announced plans to rebrand as Bed Bath & Beyond, Inc. effective August 29, 2025, and will begin trading under the ticker BBBY.

Pakistan demands equal green financing
Pakistan has taken the lead in rallying regional support for a fair and effective Global Plastics Treaty, urging equal access to green financing and technology for developing nations. Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination Dr Musadik Malik chaired an interactive briefing with delegations from Bangladesh, Egypt, Tajikistan, Malaysia, and Sudan on the sidelines of the Fifth Session of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee on Plastic Pollution (INC-5.2) in Geneva. The session aims to finalise an agreement to curb plastic pollution. Malik warned that the poorest countries are being left behind in the fight against environmental degradation. "Those consuming the most plastic get the largest share of green financing, while developing nations bear the worst environmental and socio-economic impacts," he said. He stressed that the treaty must include technology transfer, capacity building, and financing mechanisms prioritising countries most affected by climate change and plastic pollution.

Lil Yachty slammed over George Floyd lyric previewed during livestream performance
Rapper Lil Yachty is facing widespread criticism after previewing a song on streamer PlaqueBoyMax's channel that included a controversial lyric referencing George Floyd, whose 2020 death in Minneapolis police custody sparked global protests. During the August 14 livestream, the Atlanta-born artist — real name Miles McCollum — rapped, 'Put my knee up on her neck, I went George Floyd,' while others in the room nodded along. The line, which appeared to make a sexual joke using the circumstances of Floyd's killing, quickly drew sharp condemnation across social media. 'This is so ass dawg. You can do better than this,' one user wrote on X, formerly Twitter. Another asked, 'Mocking one of the most horrific deaths in American history… Why green-light an ignorant bar like this?' Several commenters compared the lyric to past rap controversies, including Lil Wayne's 2013 Emmett Till reference and his 2009 Rodney King lyric, while others called Yachty 'one of the worst rappers' to reach mainstream success. Stephen Jackson calls out Lil Yachty over George Floyd lyrics: "Put my knee up on her neck, I went George Floyd" -Lil Yachty — SAY CHEESE! 👄🧀 (@SaycheeseDGTL) August 15, 2025 Stephen Jackson, a former NBA player and close friend of Floyd, was tagged in multiple posts criticizing the lyric. One commenter wrote, 'We do not support bunk gibberish like this in the community. All blessings to King George Floyd, his family, and everyone against this disrespectful nonsense.' Floyd, 46, died after former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin knelt on his neck for over nine minutes during an arrest. The incident, captured on video, prompted nationwide and global protests against police brutality and racial injustice. As of Thursday, Lil Yachty had not publicly addressed the backlash, adding to the ongoing debate about accountability and boundaries in music lyrics.
