Bing brings AI video tool to everyone for free, uses OpenAI Sora to generate AI clips

India Today2 days ago

Microsoft has introduced a new AI video creation tool called Bing Video Creator. This new feature allows users to generate short AI videos simply by describing what they want to see. The feature works similarly to Bing Image Creator, which creates images using AI based on users' prompts. The video tool is powered by OpenAI's Sora model. At the moment, Bing Video Creator can create five-second clips from text prompts and is available for free through the Bing mobile app. Desktop access is expected to roll out soon. Microsoft says the new tool will let users skip complex editing software and create simple video clips using plain language. 'Whether you're letting your imagination run wild, bringing a story to life, or looking for that perfect video to communicate what you're thinking, Bing Video Creator puts the power of video creation at your fingertips,' says Microsoft in the official blog post announcement.advertisementHow to use Bing Video CreatorTo use Bing Video Creator, you will need to download the Bing mobile app, which is available for both iOS and Android users. Within the app, you can either tap the bottom-right menu and select 'Video Creator' or type a phrase like 'Create a video of' into the search bar.
After entering a prompt—such as 'Otter and a capybara drink cocktails while on holiday in Hawaii, sitting on a beach hammock'—the new AI video generator will begin creating a video that matches your description.

Microsoft notes that the quality of the output depends on how descriptive your prompt is. A vague request like 'a person running' might not produce a useful clip, but something like 'a man in a blue tracksuit running along a foggy mountain trail at sunrise, in slow motion' gives the AI more to work with. Including details such as setting, motion, objects, and tone improves accuracy.advertisementMeanwhile, the Bing video creator can also generate up to five seconds of video and is created in vertical format (9:16). Microsoft says that a horizontal format (16:9) is in development. Users can generate up to three videos at a time; if all slots are in use, you must wait for one to finish before starting another.Once the video is generated, you will get a notification. You can then download the AI-generated video and share it via a link, or post it on social media. The videos will remain available for 90 days, so will be able to revisit or reuse them.AI safety measures in placeOf course, just like other AI tools, this new AI raises questions of safety — and to address these concerns, Microsoft says it has built protections into the new video generation tool. The platform will block prompts flagged as risky and will notify users about the same. Each video generated by the AI tool will also carry digital credentials identifying it as AI-generated, in line with the C2PA standard.Microsoft says it is relying on both OpenAI's safety filters in Sora and its own additional safeguards to minimise the risk of misuse.

World's youngest self-made female billionaire is a 30-year-old college dropout, beat Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Rihanna

For years, pop icon Taylor Swift has been the world's youngest self-made female billionaire. She reached the billionaire mark in 2023 at the age of 33and has held the record since then. But now, she has been unseated, and not by someone from the entertainment world. The new record-holder is a 30-year-old college dropout known as much for her self-confessed workaholism as for her hard-partying lifestyle. (Also read: World's richest influencer is a billionaire; donates all earnings, still richer than Tom Cruise, Johnny Depp, Shah Rukh) AI founder Lucy Guo has become the world's youngest self-made female billionaire at the age of 30. Forbes' list of America's Richest Self-Made Women, released on Wednesday, puts Lucy with a net worth of $1.3 billion. This happened after ScaleAI, the firm she co-founded with Alexandr Wang at the age of 21, has been valued at $25 billion in a new deal. According to the New York Post, Lucy is the daughter of Chinese immigrants and was raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, where she quickly picked up coding in middle school. She dropped out of Carnegie Mellon University as she clinched a $100,000 entrepreneurial scholarship bankrolled by billionaire investor Peter Thiel. She was fired from ScaleAI after disagreements with her co-founder, but has kept her 5% stake in the company, which has now made her a billionaire. Taylor Swift is one of the youngest female billionaires in the world. According to Forbes, the 35-year-old has a net worth of $1.6 billion as of June 2025. Barbadian musician Rihanna, 37, is also a billionaire with a net worth of $1 billion. Selena Gomez was reported to be a billionaire in September 2024. This would have made her the youngest self-made female billionaire at 32. But Forbes later revised her net worth to $700 million. Earlier, Forbes had called Kylie Jenner the youngest self-made billionaire when she reported breached the $1-billion mark in 2020 at the age of 2020. But like Selena, her billionaire status was revoked, too, given the financial irregularities with her businesses. Kylie has a reported net worth of $700 million now.

AI-driven search ad spending set to surge to $26 billion by 2029, data shows

Spending on AI-powered search advertising is poised to surge to nearly $26 billion by 2029 from just over $1 billion this year in the U.S., driven by rapid adoption of the technology and more sophisticated user targeting, data from Emarketer showed on Wednesday. Companies that rely on traditional keyword-based search ads could experience revenue declines due to the growing popularity of AI search ads, which offer greater convenience and engagement for users, according to the research firm. WHY IT'S IMPORTANT Search giants such as Alphabet-owned Google and Microsoft's Bing have added AI capabilities to better compete with chatbots such as OpenAI's ChatGPT and Perplexity AI, which provide users with direct information without requiring to click through multiple results. Apple is exploring the integration of AI-driven search capabilities into its Safari browser, potentially moving away from its longstanding partnership with Google. The report has come as concerns grew about users increasingly turning to the chatbots for conversational search and AI-powered search results could upend business models of some companies. Online education firm Chegg said in May that it would lay off about 248 employees as it looks to cut costs and streamline operations because students are using AI-powered tools including ChatGPT over traditional edtech platforms. QUOTE "Publishers and other sites are feeling the pain from AI search. As they lose out on traffic, we're seeing publishers lean into subscriptions and paid AI licensing deals to bolster revenue," Emarketer analyst Minda Smiley said. CONTEXT AI search ad spending is expected to constitute nearly 1% of total search ad spending this year and 13.6% by 2029 in the U.S., according to Emarketer. Sectors such as financial services, technology, telecom, and healthcare are embracing AI as they are seeing clear advantages in using the technology to enhance their ad strategies, while the retail industry's adoption is slow, the report said. Google recently announced the expansion of its AI-powered search capabilities into the consumer packaged goods sector through enhancements in Google Shopping.
